      Yeah, it's because he literally conserves all his mana to cast his ultimate during candidates but by the time he comes to WCC match his mana is enough to cast only 1-2 simple spells and then he has 0. Then the cycle restarts, he conserves mana doing nothing until the next candidates. Then loses WCC match not being able to cast his ultimate, yare yare

      Not only that, he never lost a single game in all three Candidates tournaments. And after ALL (!!) of his 33 games in the Candidates, to this day, he has held the top 1 spot, either alone or sharing it with somebody. His overall performance with white in the Candidates is about 2900. And people still think he's not a favorite 😂😂

His rapid and blitz game can definately improve but in classical, i dont think anyone, among the youngesters, can calculate better then him. • @bobtheominc4838
      @bobtheominc4838 7 месяцев назад +3

      Imo, I think Magnus is in part ranking the juniors lower because of the immense pressure of the tournament that they’re not used to, not because he thinks they’re substantially worse players or don’t have the talent to win. To be fair, that’s shown some this Candidates with the juniors in particular really having time scrambles that have led to losses, and this is the same problem Alireza had last year in the candidates. I think Alireza is an incredibly strong player, but struggles to handle the mental duress on the top stage, and Magnus felt like many of the juniors would have to adjust to the pressure. Even more experienced players like Ding had that problem in the last World Championship. I do think he thinks Fabi and Hikaru are the strongest players in the tournament, but he’s not saying Gukesh or anyone else is weak. I haven’t followed Gukesh much in particular more than others, but I’ve heard he can be swing heavy and is a classical beast but weaker in other formats. I believe Magnus said he was his most difficult match in the World Cup. That being said, I think Gukesh has a great chance to win if he can avoid tiebreaks. I would love to see Fabi win as his chances only get worse from here and I don’t want him to go down in history as the best player to never win a WCC, especially after his psychological decline losing in 2018, but right now it seems like it’s Gukesh’s tournament to win with the remaining schedule. If Fabi can’t win, I’m pulling for him! I also just hope Nepo doesn’t win, not that I don’t like him, but I don’t want to see him crumble again and would rather see someone else get their shot.

      If the winner is to be decided based on strengths then why do they even hold these tournaments? The top rated player should be considered the champion. Just like Hikaru could have beaten Vidit and topped the leader board others also could have beaten him and climbed up the leader board right? So the one who has a cool presence of mind would eventually win and in this case Hikaru lagged behind gukesh.

      Praggs knowledge of chess theory far exceeds gukesh and he's a far more stable player. Gukesh has often had spells where he does really poorly whereas pragg although he can have a bad day here and there, it never persists for long. This is clear even if you just look at their journey once they both hit 2700. Gukesh has been erratic, falling rlly low at times and then back up whereas pragg has been slowly but very steadily climbing up with barely any significant drops. Pragg also has a very fearless mentality remaining calm under high pressure situations against the very top players. Ofcourse you can argue this candidates gukesh has been on par with pragg but you need to consider who's been more consistent in terms of past history as well.
