"This is Hikaru's best chance because i am not playing" That's what he meant basically .
To be fair, that's true of every player in the candidates.
Yep, which is factual.
also ding liren is in very bad form so if they win the candidates then they will win the championship too prob
@@honblegaurav9917 you'll never know, Ding will be defending the title.
Also Nepo chokes and Magnus embarrassed him so hard he retired from the WCC.

Gukesh: I'm about to ruin this guy's whole prediction
True😂
Gukesh did really surprisingly great but I have personal opinion that Nepo have a kind of plot armor 😂
To be fair, Aside from Gukesh doing way better than expected, and Alireza doing way worse, this wasnt that bad of a list. It was pretty accurate to the actual rankings as they stand rn.
Certainly an incredible event so far for a 17 year old.

This is Hikaru's shot. He's in his late 30's now. Magnus is out. Ding is a sitting duck. The guy will be playing for all his hopes and dreams. Should be entertaining to watch. Someone should play "Lose Yourself" outside his apartment on loop.

He just needs to find mate in 8, cause there are just 8 pieces on the board, and rank each single piece once.

2:43-2:48 "For Gukesh, it's very hard to say. I cannot imagine him winning, but I could see him being anywhere from like +2 to -5." Surprise! Gukesh was the clear winner (without a tie-break) with a +4 score. He had only one hiccup. Aside from that big miss, Magnus' predictions were quite accurate. @@Deerjason I hope it isn't just me, I feel like "looking optimistic" reads weirdly the way it was used, English is not my mother tongue tho so it may actually be just me XD
More importantly, Fabiano's performance in the future has practically nothing to do with how many other Americans will be there or how good they will do themselves. Seems like you missed the point.
We know Magnus is exceptionally good in chess. As a result Magnus wins in Classical, Rapid, Blitz, 960, online bullet, etc... He is just great in chess, and he wins whatever. Fabi in not that good in Bullet. It means, his skills are not universal. He trained well for long classical games but he does not have such exceptional skills in all time controls. So doesn't Ian. He does not show any good results outside of that single tournament, not super successful in titled tuesdays or world rapid&blitz chess championsip. That's why I think Hikaru has the best chances. He'surprisingly good at otber formats, 960, blitz, bullet, etc, just like Magnus does, so it shows more hidden talent.
Damn I didn't expect him to put Hikaru over Ian.
But yeah Fabi, Hikaru and Ian are probably taking 80% of the winning chances from the candidates
The experience just means a lot for such a high pressure tournament. It seems very rare for a player to win in their first candidates tournament.
95% for this trio

The world needs more of this.
Magnus's thoughts on Hikaru last time: decent
edit: I started a debate but at least it hasn't progressed into a full-scale war
But also, "Hikaru has never had a better chance to become WC than this," which looks like a compliment but could it also mean that...... Hikaru will become WC only because Magnus isn't playing? (I personally would love to see Hikaru win tho)
“Decent” is a huge compliment from Magnus when you hear how critical he always is of his own play

Rooting for Caruana. Dude has the third highest peak rating ever, and managed to draw with Magnus in the classic portion of the WCC. Although one could say that Magnus was trying to draw just to go to faster time controls cuz he has an edge there, I still think Caruana at his best was really close to Magnus, so I think he deserves it.
Those classic games were really sharp and hard fought. Astounding that neither player cracked. Especially the game where Fabi sprung a prepared piece sacrifice in the opening.
