1:04:49 so true. You would be surprised how many beautiful girls are jealous of other beautiful girls when them themselves are also beautiful. If they dress or style themselves very well... the admiration is there. It should not turn into envy. It's such a waste of energy and time, especially when you realize you yourself are just as special as well. We all have something to work on. Just focus your valuable energy on getting yourself better and having the life you admire. You won't have time to envy nor judge. If you do, you have more to do on self work.
Agreed. I literally wake up with a Robert Greene interview and end my night with another. Constantly listen to his audiobooks as well. Obsessed is an understatement 😅
He's quite an inspiration. He truly expand our perspectives of things, places and people. He hasn't got the right acceptance from our Corporate ruled world of greed, Narcissism and distortion of our beliefs, thoughts and attitudes towards others or the humanity at large.I truly adore this man.
I usually don't leave comments... But I have to put this out there; the reason I love Tom's interviews is that he is willing to get vulnerable and be put on the spot Look how Robert is now dissecting Tom's insecurities on screen and he is fearless sharing it with me. Thank you Tom. You make content like no other ...
Very good information, I didn't talk to people until I was 10. I definitely observed everyone and everything when I was a child. Non verbal communication is very deep and has impacted the way I react and communicate with people today. It is a blessing I didn't talk before I was 10 years old. It has shown me things I know I wouldn't have.
Robert Green is so correct about not knowing ourselves and being mystery to ourselves, but also our anger coming from deep within us from way back in our childhoods. I often asked myself why am I so angry or sensitive about what someone says? Often I realized that it has little to do with what someone says but rather with the wounds I have experienced as a child and I am working through to heal. People say very cruel and horrible things in anger designed to inflict harm and pain. I get triggered by those hurtful and cruel words because of my unhealed wounds. Over time when I am healed more whatever someone says won’t be able to hurt me anymore.Sometimes I wish people are not so selfish or inconsiderate and other times I see how my desire to want others to be different from what they are makes me suffer because majority of people who are abusive and selfish etc are people who are absolutely unaware of their behavior or how it impacts others around them. As I am certain I am also not aware of how my behavior impacts others at times as well even if I put greater effort into making sure that I am careful , caring, and understanding ultimately I am flawed human being just like everyone else. Of course I make sure I am aware of myself and my actions but it’s been very difficult to understand how to process my emotions and feelings.
Judith Herman writes about trauma, as does her friend van der Kolk. To read about the treatment of the worst traumas that can happen is very useful, for me at least. Both are so compassionate.
Nice and great comment. Only one thing can save us from our Daemon and from deep pain when hurt too much by life and others: work, dedicating us to a project, work again, and keep on progressing, and working again. For one goal, be better and surrounding ourselves from better people for a better life and lifestyle ... and beware of the narcissists. Very dangerous
I think it can be beneficial to look inwards and effect change that way, but in my experience, sometimes you just have to find better people to be with, or take a job with less human interaction. If you spend too much time trying to fit yourself around people, you'll end up bent out of shape! Some people and places are better avoided!
To believe that you can believe...believe affects us all like gravity, either you control your believe and it works in your favor or you believe becomes an impediment and becomes the foundation of all of your limitations, watching this podcast for the 30th time and everything is beginning to make sense...seek believe, understanding, control and you have power
Stand in awe of talent. Natural gifts. Both of you, self effacing, but in the harmony of this discussion brings joy and understanding. Like each musician in a legend Grateful Dead concert, 1977-78 era. When I went to a trial simulation conference in Colorado 10 years ago at NITA, there were the most brilliant minds. Masters. But each in their own way pulled energy from hitting on their own, unique greatest gifts.

Most everything, thus far and excited to hear the rest of this video; learned that self awareness is something required before anyone there is realization, reflection and introspection. I’m 52 and love that I can still learn life.
You are one of the most inspiring people I have ever met, you are as real as can be and it's hard to find words to say how much I appreciate your work. it's amazing
Wow. I love listening to these gentlemen talk. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to lose some of your basic physical functions like your hands. Heck, I've had to slow down my cardio at the gym because if I don't, I get a tachicardia attack, where my heart goes from 130 bpm to 176 all at once, and just that is frustrating. I'm 48 now, so I have stress from my physical job and not getting enough sleep. So I can't do intense cardio like I like.
Everything is my fault . That’s what I say and preach . You always have the choice to act a certain way and then what follows next is direct result from your choices in life. That’s an amazing way to not be the victim all the time and take some initiative in your life. Life will throw challenges at you and it’s how you react to those challenges is what gives you the result
I like to see the world as a complex video game with certain fixed actions/reactions, and I'm the protagonist--like Mario--navigating it. Yelling at the Goombas, wishing they'd move differently, or wishing they wouldn't kill me won't change the fact that they killed me. It was from my actions that led to the Goomba Goomba-ing in the way they Goomba to kill me; it was my fault. The world is going to operate just as it will operate, and you can only control how you react as you navigate it. Dwelling on how things aught to be is a recipe for frustration and a deep sense of hopelessness.
Just love these two, sir Robert Greene is such a genius when it comes to revealing Harsh yet reality of human Nature, and Tom is such a fascinating guy when it comes to processing and asking the right questions ✨❤️, there's is so much I've learnt in this 3 hour video. So fascinating and amazing.
great and respectfull interviewer. 👍💐 lets person speak, listens, does not rush, explains why he asks a question when person needs explanation and asks wise questions.
"everything is my fault" attitude can be very self-destructive if you're not careful. Also, it can instill a false sense of total control of the outcome or that your part in anything has a much bigger impact on the scenario than it actually has. Personally, I've had to learn to apply the opposite mantra "I've done what I can the rest is up to the other person" because I don't know how much sleep I've lost in my life due to overthinking things I could have done differently.
"My life is an exact reflection of choices that I've made" yeah sure, maybe helps some people sleep at night thinking like this but remember that people don't choose to become severely ill for example. Diseases don't care about your "ownership" of choices. No one has the exact same options when it comes to choices in everyday life, there are many boundaries depending on your resources and your health for example. Some people just have to do with trying their best with what they have in that moment and leave it at that.
What I'm trying to say is that this attitude that if you want to be different you make different choices is flawed. Sometimes the change we yearn is outside our control due to limitations such as health, or money for the matter. What's easy to change for some people may be near impossible for others for complex reasons.
Was any abused child asking for the abuser who did that to them? I'm reading a book by a woman who treated Holocaust survivors. You know where I'm going with fault here . . .
Copy of my OP in another thread: "Everything is my fault?" LOL, that's the ultimate megalomania. Suppose you are a passenger in a car and out of the blue, you are broadsided by a drunk driver. Broad daylight, your driver is perfectly sober and has never been in a crash. Is it your fault? No, but rehab (and a fat lawsuit to pay for it) --- 100% your responsibility. You think you'll win if you tell the drunk's lawyer that it was your fault? Or that you'll make better progress in your rehab by blaming yourself? So twisted!
2024. I would like to express something profound, but language is so imperfect that it fails to convey the emotions I wish to communicate. This is why nonverbal cues, which are difficult to capture in written comments, are essential. You speak of such simple things, which, due to humanity's forgetfulness, have now become treasures. Gentlemen, you have touched upon the topic of Erickson. Observation is the foundation of science and development. Through observation, one can read emotions from human behavior-emotions that people often try to conceal with spoken words. Since childhood, I have enjoyed watching people, observing them to the point where it became an intuitive part of my instinct for self-preservation-so mature that I not only see but also "feel" various emotional states of others, as well as their attempts at manipulation, whether conscious or unconscious. This is a fascinating superpower of humans because if our ancestors had not learned to harness fire by observing how others did it, they would not have passed that knowledge down to future generations.
I did a personality type test and found out i am an infp personality type like greene here and this really helped me imrpove myself and unlock the source to a lot of issues and questions. I am still getting things back from my stroke after 10 years. I can do things now that I never dreamed that I would be able to do again. There is always hope after a stroke, it just takes orders of magnitude longer than you think. Hang in there!
Thanks for your encouragement! I had a stroke two years ago where I had to relearn to my abc’s, count, write, and read again. It’s humbling as a lawyer to start over, but I’m having trouble with changing my stories about my patterns in recovery.

This discussion is clear that we talk more then we know how to listen, thinking is the abstract process of what the Will can do not a fundamental bases of the only way to do a thing. Expression start in the womb, most people feel disconnected, and lost because growing in an environment that foresters limited ideas cripples expectation to be formula.

Wow I had no idea he was going through so much. I was surprised to hear him speak about it like he did but as humans I get it. I wonder if he has tried past life regression. Its supposedly heals anything. It’s all in our mind and the way we feel about it. There is a reason he is ordered to do this book it’s all he has to really focus on to feel better. I really adore this man. Listening to him is soothing and all his words flow into beautiful sense. I have taken so much for granted.. I know this feeling, like why was I so unhappy look at all I had.

31:55 The origin of wisdom According to the Greeks is to "know thy self " 😔 👇🏻 Socrates didn't come up with "man, know thyself " Too many claim he's the father of philosophy, but to the ancient Egyptians he was just a student. One that stole writings, teachings and made it his own. Luxor temple was constructed in 1400 bce which has the inscription " Man, know thy self" Luxor temple (1400 BCE) Socrates dies (399 BCE) According to a proposal by De Lubicz and Lamy (1956), the Greek aphorism may have been adopted from Ancient Egypt: there are two parts of the ancient Luxor Temple, the External Temple, where the beginners were allowed to enter and the Internal Temple where a person was only allowed to enter after proven worthy and ready to acquire more knowledge and insights. One of the proverbs of the External Temple is "The body is the house of God." In the Internal Temple, one of the many proverbs is "Man, know thyself, and you are going to know the gods".

"Understand the reality " is the best part
Great author, great storyteller, and on point. I love Robert Green, he is the world's alpha nerd ❤
Seems very down to earth ❤
Alpha nerd😅
Alpha nerd ? Help
Mr. Greene is such an exquisite soul and genius. There is no one else who gives me such brain candy. I had no idea he had a stroke, my heart goes out to him. I love him so much. He is one of my modern heroes.
thank you to this program, gave me good vibes to start my journey again....YOUNGS ARE YOU READY????
1:04:49 so true. You would be surprised how many beautiful girls are jealous of other beautiful girls when them themselves are also beautiful. If they dress or style themselves very well... the admiration is there. It should not turn into envy. It's such a waste of energy and time, especially when you realize you yourself are just as special as well. We all have something to work on. Just focus your valuable energy on getting yourself better and having the life you admire. You won't have time to envy nor judge. If you do, you have more to do on self work.
I'm really really a late bloomer! Love Robert Greene!
I can listen to this man talk for hours. The two together are amazing, so much insight back and forth. I can tell he likes Tom very much
Agreed. I literally wake up with a Robert Greene interview and end my night with another. Constantly listen to his audiobooks as well. Obsessed is an understatement 😅
CHERISH EVEREY MOMENT AFFORDED TO YOU. Its loads better than the regret.
All I can say is thank you Mr.Greene.
Robert green u must be very blessed I don't know wht to says ur books he really help me to know who I am thanks u so much ❤😊
Roberts attitude of changing his perspective on life is awe inspiring! Thank you for being who you are Robert!!!!
He's quite an inspiration. He truly expand our perspectives of things, places and people. He hasn't got the right acceptance from our Corporate ruled world of greed, Narcissism and distortion of our beliefs, thoughts and attitudes towards others or the humanity at large.I truly adore this man.
His humbleness is my lifetime goal ❤
I usually don't leave comments... But I have to put this out there; the reason I love Tom's interviews is that he is willing to get vulnerable and be put on the spot
Look how Robert is now dissecting Tom's insecurities on screen and he is fearless sharing it with me.
Always change for the better , rise up , keep moving forward , in the end all the pain will become the most wonderful dream you can achieve!!
I had the same stroke at age 10. I was paralyzed for 12 years. I am still working on my book. I need motivation!
Wish you the best on your book
@@l.w.paradis2108 Ooh I bought a book Called The Body keeps the score by Van Der Kolk..’ reading it now👌
I think it can be beneficial to look inwards and effect change that way, but in my experience, sometimes you just have to find better people to be with, or take a job with less human interaction.
O thank you so much.
I left a comment and you just raised the bar.
👏👏👏
It's just confusing to start again.
Robert. My office is rooting for you. Stand in
oh my bro I feel for u Robert heard it in ur voice saw it in ur eyes,,,,,just know this my friend u have changed my life and I'm sure heaps of others past present and future I appreciate u Robert thank you
Most everything, thus far and excited to hear the rest of this video; learned that self awareness is something required before anyone there is realization, reflection and introspection. I’m 52 and love that I can still learn life.
You are one of the most inspiring people I have ever met, you are as real as can be and it's hard to find words to say how much I appreciate your work. it's amazing
Dear Tom,
It is a true blissing to have people like you.
Please keep up the great work.❤❤❤
I appreciate Sir Robert Greene so much~ ❤️❤️🍵☺️☺️
Everything is my fault .

So uplifting! I need to hear this today… timeless wisdom for all the ages
You are totally right. Greene is agreeing with the host here. No idea why.
Was any abused child asking for the abuser who did that to them?
I'm reading a book by a woman who treated Holocaust survivors. You know where I'm going with fault here . . .
Copy of my OP in another thread:
"Everything is my fault?" LOL, that's the ultimate megalomania.
So twisted!
Imagine seeing the way all things are! Got to be a super power!
Mr green is full of knowledge I hop he get better
Well, that's entirely up to him. /s
To get good at something I feel it comes down to interest and it's impossible to fake interest
I literally know everything about my self and why I'm that way. Because I remember almost every memory for a baby lol.
Wow, I love where this conversation is going.. I really like this guys talk.
My previous psychologist was a narcissist. She was so charming. He’s too right.
I did a personality type test and found out i am an infp personality type like greene here and this really helped me imrpove myself and unlock the source to a lot of issues and questions. Just remember to think of it as a guide and not literally as personality tests arent 100 percent. But also books like Robert greene, carl jungs works, and videos on typology and psychology or self care videos really helped me discover a lot about myself i knew but didnt know why.
Omg, I had a stroke too. Yoga and body building will help so much, seriously.
Change the diet to a ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting lifestyle!
Robert Green laid out a number of my patterns. From the abandonment, narcissistic mother-patterns to list a couple

He articulates very well practical every day problems, in a deep way. Incorporating power elements in thinking and feeling
He’s the type of guy who might be an absent father (due to the his work) but he would certainly become the best Grandfather in the entire world. His grandkids would look at him , like a real life Jedi

The origin of wisdom According to the Greeks is to "know thy self " 😔
👇🏻
Socrates didn't come up with "man, know thyself " Too many claim he's the father of philosophy, but to the ancient Egyptians he was just a student. One that stole writings, teachings and made it his own.
Luxor temple was constructed in 1400 bce which has the inscription " Man, know thy self"
Luxor temple (1400 BCE)
Socrates dies (399 BCE)
According to a proposal by De Lubicz and Lamy (1956), the Greek aphorism may have been adopted from Ancient Egypt: there are two parts of the ancient Luxor Temple, the External Temple, where the beginners were allowed to enter and the Internal Temple where a person was only allowed to enter after proven worthy and ready to acquire more knowledge and insights. One of the proverbs of the External Temple is "The body is the house of God." In the Internal Temple, one of the many proverbs is "Man, know thyself, and you are going to know the gods".
I wasn't wary enough. I was too adventurous and trusted people. After so many disappointments I'm now in my 70's and dealing with a lot of crap brought about by not seeing how evil others are. It's my own fault and I'm too old to fix it

I try my best to not allow anything to dictate the present but I am human so thoughts will happen all I can do is allow those thoughts to happen to help with my present I try not to focus on the future but I still do
I can also choose not to give the words from others the value and power to make me react differently than I want to respond.
Great interview.
I have those same abilities, I knew a friend was coming around the corner before he even came around the corner. And many other seemingly extra sensory experiences.

Perhaps you are right and there literally could be something wrong with the people we are dealing with but in the end we gotta accept the fact we can't change other people but we can only change and control our attitude.
You are so right .and sometimes you froced to deal with wrong or bad people .life has tough choices .no matter how wisely you choose you can end up with wrong choice
