Robert Greene studied at U.C. Berkley, and he received a degree in Classical Studies from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Robert published his first book, The 48 Laws of Power, at the age of 36 and has since become one of our generation’s most influential writers. He’s responsible for several inventive successes, including The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, Mastery, The Art of Seduction, and his most recent work, The Laws of Human Nature.
His works are widely praised by a variety of sources, including war historians and acclaimed musicians and actors like 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and Will Smith, amongst many others. Several of his books appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Robert was also featured in the first episode and Episode 713 of The School of Greatness, so please check out those interviews after hearing this one!
Robert also has personal knowledge of what it takes to overcome hardship. In 2018, he suffered a massive stroke, and he’s had a long road to recovery. But Robert refuses to quit, and today he continues to work, write, and enjoying hiking just like he used to!
I am so inspired by this man and his ability to maintain hope even in the wake of tragedy. If you’re ready to learn how to overcome tragedy, create abundance, and embrace failure, join me on Episode 1,024 with Robert Greene!

the full quote “Power is dangerous. It corrupts the best and attracts the worst. Power is only given to those who are prepared to lower themselves to pick it up.” It is similar to a quote by Fyodor Dostoevsky "Power is given only to those who dare to lower themselves and pick it up. Only one thing matters, one thing; to be able to dare!"

@@Ocatoe369HS To me, this just basically breaks down to: don't be afraid to be YOU! The original, authentic YOU, untainted and unjaded(red underline, so I assume I made that word up?) and unafraid.
Procrastination comes from doubt of what you originally instinctively decided through the computing powers of your nervous system was the correct next move.
Confusion, which can be contagious and often is, comes from illusions. There are myriad illusions which can be deceptions if we don't sift the true from the rest. Do you know what deceptions are?
[It was rhetorical. If we knew deceptions, they wouldn't be correctly called deceptions would they?] So again, the supercomputer that is at your disposal and allows interpretation of this condition one finds oneself in is the only thing that can pick the correct path from the infinite paths one could take(for THAT ONE!)
Wandering thoughts arise when we try to pontificate on matters that are none of our business as individual Navigators of this condition. We can only decide on an individual level. Past that, the waters muddy or bloody into chaos wilderness beyond our scope of ability to pathfind.
Being soul -passive/-aggressive happens when we stray from our soul's intended seat, which is at the "center", so to speak, of one's being.
And don't get me started on busyness. I try not to know it. I am turned away from it naturally. Mostly because it just sounds dull, boring, etc. Like a rigid system without much purpose in a constantly changing existence, haha.
If I rambled without making much sense, I might have pontificated this whole reply up. If that is the case, ignore it as best you can and move on. I am not, not was I ever, a pontiff. I'm just Timothy and thought writing down these thoughts was the next right thing, so I went with it.... ♋✌️

    Insights:
    1. Confront your darkest fear & be comfortable with it.
    2. Actually fear of failure is not that much bad, it keeps you alert, focused & become grounded.
    3. Channel you horrible past, past failures & pain to something meaningful & significant & use that energy for which you are born to create.
    4. Use your strong emotions as a greatest source of motivation.
    5. The greatest regret is realizing not achieving your full potential. Wake up & do your work before it is too late.
    6. You are obsessed by yourself so much that you are not paying close attention to what others people are saying. To become an empathetic listener, go on to other people’s head & find their stories interesting rather than your own.
    7. You should never allow success go on to your head. Repetitive success makes you arrogant & overconfident. You may lose all of your achievements in a single blow next time. So, FAILURE is good.

He sounds like someone who has learned these things from personal experience, which is I think why he sounds so genuine and can speak with authority on these matters.
I don't know the guy and I don't know his past or anything like that but it's just the overall feeling I get from him. He has helped me through some things as well.
I've only read his books before today. Seeing and hearing him speak is showing me his humanity that I have to say I questioned when I read 48 Laws of Power way back maybe 12 years ago.
I think it was the forward or something like that, pre-chapter 1 I think, that said something like if you aren't looking to gain more power, you're lying to yourself. Power is the name of the game and all-important in the conscious journey we find ourselves in.
Back then, my ego rejected this notion and I probably judged his worldview(never claimed sainthood, haha.) Over time I think I began to see what he was saying more, but tonight, I feel I understand with much greater clarity.
...But it might be my ego again... That guy's a real pain in my ass at times... If y'all see him around here anywhere, kindly let me know so I can chase him off. But don't be too harsh/judgey when informing me of his presence. He feeds on that shit too. Smh.

I never feared failure, but I had always feared success, because then it means I would truly be alone and can trust no one....
And as of recent...I've finally dealt and embraced that fear...and have an overwhelming calmness and unearthly feeling of great things coming and happening.

Thank you both for this interview... I was going through a terrible time a little while back... a family betrayal that ruined my finances, credit and lost most of my belongings... that was both nice things lost and also priceless sentimental... and left in a situation that was precarious and dangerous... that book opened my eyes because all of a sudden The enormity of this situation...reading that book... I saw my family... so much abuse and dysfunction... Id been shamed for ever being protective of myself or calling out abusive behavior... I slowly became more and more unwise... more and more controlled ...main weapons were spiritual abuse... turn other cheek... forgive with no end....no boundaries allowed... and it opened my eyes big time. I hadn’t even allowed myself to see danger as that was shamed... anger was shamed, even confidence shamed, aspirations ALL shamed... So I basically read the book and was like, ok-there are dangerous and dysfunctional people all over the place but I didn’t delve deeper because obviously I don’t agree with being all manipulative like the 48 laws which was like a guidebook to what I experienced in my family... it was just good to know to be able to process my life.
So 3 years later, I’m glad I watched this ... I’m still processing but what I’m getting from this now is there is dark energy within love (sparkling darkness) and light energy within love (sparkling light) and then there’s EVIL--evil light and evil dark and I don’t ever want to go there. BUT sparkling darkness.... it’s what I’ve been missing !!! It’s what I was shamed out of!!! It’s dense, deep, mysterious, powerful energy!! It’s beautiful!!! I was first deceived by Christianity but then that same stuff was in New Age! If people are cruel, you attracted it? Lies! You just have to be able to SEE correctly and to do that you have to be GROUNDED!!! I had on rose-colored glasses thinking being “good” would protect me... and it’s simply not ENOUGH! Christianity, New Age is like fairy tale delusions of if you’re good and loving enough you can turn any monster into a prince! My GOD, the only thing I can say I’m impressed about is that I held on to false ideas, trying to be good, even as I was dragged down a dirt road with rocks! 😂 that’s how dedicated I was to “love”. Now I see so many of my impulses to protect and direct MY SELF WAS the voice of LOVE and I overrode it because of the wrongful moralities I was taught... trying to be “good”... Creator includes each of US... we’re to be protected and respected TOO! And people sick with ego see all this love love love love and transparency transparency transparency transparency as a TARGET!!! Dark sparkling energy is the sacred I !! The I that is connected to Creator and through THAT connected to ALL. When I was very young, I was very wise... beatings, withholding food, being called bad/demon possessed... before 5 and below I had extreme clarity... I KNEW they were evil... then it was just layer upon layer of trauma and false shame and the desire to please... the carrot of if you are GOOD, you will be loved!!! Good meant-no boundaries, endless abuse and always forgiving, no boundaries, being controlled--but had no idea I was being controlled because Id say to myself... I’m strong, I’ll be “loving” I can take it... a never ending martyr... cutting off pieces of myself for others... I’m astonished and grateful I’m alive. The sparkling darkness is deep, dense, powerful, wise... the light is the JOY and the sweet kisses of life every day! But the light can be a LIE too-light can be BLINDING. Anyway, that’s what I’m taking from this... I literally felt that part of myself return last night... I recognized it clearly... a missing and essential part.... and the darkness in me is true and beautiful and sparkling. Within love, that’s how are darkness is with all of us. Our soul is our original good... cleansing our spirits with the power and connection in our souls. Hope this makes sense to someone. This interview just changed my life. I’d thought of the sparkling light and sparkling darkness thing a long time ago (because I don’t like how light and dark is used for good and evil because it is the foundation of racism. Metaphors are powerful.)... but I also knew, I didn’t have that sparkling darkness... I’ve been lost without it... so un-grounded and lost... people as idols (I see now-people who spoke as FALSE PROXY FOR GOD) that I made sacrifices to to prove I was good to try to get love-because that’s how I taught it works! Both in Christianity and New Age!!! Pure of heart but full of IGNORANCE and like he said-it these delusions you don’t even learn the right LESSONS!!! I got worse and worse trying to be MORE AND MORE loving and giving... just offering my neck to be sucked of my BLOOD, my LIFE FORCE! it was a part of me that was shamed and so denied... reclaiming this power... a huge and important part of my spirit and wisdom and feeling has returned... emotion and wisdom in motion ❤️ It IS an experiential event! It’s natural to all of us! I feel grounded and powerful in a way I haven’t felt since 5 and under. Now is just the beginning❤️Thank you, Mr. Howe and Mr. Greene. I wish you both so much of exactly what your soul and spirit needs!!!!

My favorite author, because he writes about real things, about reality of how the world and people operate and how to master one’s self. Actionable, useful life advice, so refreshing. I have to give him the biggest compliment I can give someone, Robert is extremely self-aware, humble and has an amazing attitude of always looking at himself first when there is a problem in some sphere of his life. Amazing and extremely admirable. Hope he lives a long and healthy life, because I want to meet him and have dinner with the man. Has my outmost respect.

Im 21 years old studying psychology and im happy to say I’ve learned so much from Robert, thank you for this! Feed the mind which leads to wisdom and knowledge for later generations! Make it worth it because 200 years from now we would be nothing but a lost memory God forbid, may we make every moment worth it even the dark ones. Be resilient!

One thing I loved about this interview & Robert captures this idea in the laws of human nature when he's talking about having a mask you show the world. Robert was sharing his fear of failure, despite all his success. NO one is immune to this feeling no matter what people have accomplished. but despite this feeling, he overcomes it by becoming a relentless student of his fear & understanding it. So powerful that through his books, he does this over & over & over again by going headfirst in it by going balls deep on the WHY. This interview was intense holy shit. Amazing work Lewis

1:06:08 When one awakens, they awaken in the head, the heart and the gut, usually at different times. Right here, Robert is describing his gut awakening. The ego lets go of it's desperate grip on life and opens to the unknown.

@@aybigetek in my opinion people's instincts change over time. we have the same brain & sensibilities for the past centuries & we're just coping up with the fast changing technologies but he never considered that we are moving more into the spiritual realm. robert green i think is only knowledgeable of old old literature which people give too much credit too. it's only literature, not work of science such as pyramid, sculpture, rennaissnce art. he's only into literature & social conducts of the past wherein there's a big gap in social structure back in those days. king & peasant for example..to summarize i think his books are impractical these days. still a good interview though
