RUclips recommended this video. I decided to watch it because the title captivated me. I guess we gravitate towards things that we resonate with. I've always felt like my life is a mess; it has no direction. So, yeah. Why not give the vid a shot? In the course of the video, there was a mention of "Nothing goes to waste" which has always been my motto in trying to justify all the seemingly useless stuff that I did in my life. I felt validated. But the truth is, it's only when I look back that then I could connect the dots. Truly nothing is wasted. I think as long as we are moving forward and just striving to do things that matter to us, there will be a reason for it in the future and only then will we realize that the thing we did was not a waste. But, of course, when we know for certain that what we're doing now is not useless, it does help ease the anxiety. But life is full of unknowns. I guess we just have to trust that what we're doing right now is what's meant to be.
I'm so amazed at how Robert is so humble and modest even with the amount of fame and popularity he received in the last 20 years, it's so rare these days. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to his life, I know I am relating to it (also had dozens of different jobs while knowing exactly the few things that I am passionate about...but didn't listen to that inner voice of becoming an entrepreneur with those skills and interests). Listening to how he explains things and how we must approach life destroys all the hundreds of "motivational gurus/salesmen" we see online.
Starting at the fact that the self is transitory, discovering ourselves is an always calibrating and endless journey. Outstanding interview, your interviewing skills are simply amazing!

I'm 31 and I tell myself exactly that. There may be someone who thinks the same and she is 29 or 26. It's funny we got to let go of the age thing. Focus on what interests you.
I’m turning 39 in February… I feel like I’m alittle out of control bc I’m trying to micro manage and not focus on my purpose, marriage and child. I know it’s never to late to start things going..
Listened to this on my morning walk…. Love synchronicities… I’m currently 35 and have been wanting to write a book for a couple years thanks for this timely reminder I’m right on track👌🏽
All of this is very nice. The problem is what to do when you get stuck at 40, with regret, alone, in a place you don't want to live, no money, a handful of additions, a career you don't like at all that cost you a great deal economically and mentally for 20 years and is the only thing you know how to do, out of shape and all your friends and family seems to be on track. And you know all is your fault, feel deep guilt cause you had all the resources at your disposal and multiple chances to get it right , but you wasted them all. And now, you can't find the energy/motivation/drive to start going the other way. It is a strange feeling with you have already given up, but you don't care any more.
The key is... Don't depend* on motivation. Build up a habit instead. Something that you work on daily without motivation or even thinking about it. By just doing and acting on your goals/dreams, you are far ahead than 95% of people on earth
48 laws of power is so important for everyone to read once and when you feel abit of a dip in life and you are looking for an answer again re read it or parts you need from it, you may find that something you were missing or failing to understand in how to play your next move and to make it one of your best

Thanks to this, I decided to quit social media forever. I could feel people's bad energies through the screen. I wanted to share my happiness but they weren't happy with mine. I already have to deal a lot by myself and having other people throw shit at you constantly, people you thought were your friends, is just too much to handle. I'm a pretty lonely person but I rather stay like this than having to deal with the BS that's out there.

9:24 I like the story of the clueless editor, just goes to show you. As the saying goes: "No" doesn"t mean you can't. It just means you can't with that person.
This is true, but before you seek control, you should first seek to know who you truly are at a core level. Ignore that step and you'll just be spinning your wheels going nowhere.
48:03 I'm just like Robert Greene, a classic introvert who just can't stand political and social games, especially now that I'm almost 37 years old and have worked so many different jobs. Being an Entrepreneur, Business Owner, and Investor right now, I just can't stand the thought of going back to the same old games where I have to live up to other people's (often low / pathetic) expectations, rather than just living up to my own expectations. Also, I could care less about what people think, and would rather not be bothered with that issue either because, at the end of the day, nobody gives a shit about you anyway unless you serve their self-interest. Now, I don't really mind working for and with other people but the position has to be at least as independent as possible.
It's funny Robert mentions at the very end that he wasn't being himself and that he needed to be himself, while in another interview with Patrick David about the "Laws of Human Nature", he stresses the importance of being a good actor and NOT being yourself. But I guess in essence he just means that you just need to be true to yourself and who you are, and then be a good actor with other people around you who do not know or see your true self. Only you know who you are, not other people. You show them what they like to see.
I love how Robert quotes Get Rich or Die Trying as he's talking about 50. Robert you are my favourite author hands down, you gave me hope in my interests and showed me that it's possible to have a mentor who's an ex con hip hop star and another one who's an established billionaire CEO.
@@mikewallis2987 I'm confused why you believe so. There are so many people that do this actually. Travel the world, discover cultures/experiences, and increase networking probability for success. Not made for everyone, but I can see someone like Greene doing this.

From what I can gather from your short comment, I think you're doing amazing! 😅

@@m.e.l9482 I'm almost thirty and my life is going ✨nowhere✨ - I have hope I'll figure something out.
@@francookie9353 30 can be a difficult age, I remember feeling like I hadn't achieved anything and I was running so behind in life. Actually I'd done so much by that age, I just didn't acknowledge it. Perhaps write a list of all your achievements and that doesn't need to be awards and accolades necessarily but even overcoming a fear you may have had or having a difficult conversation with someone that went well, sticking out a job or even leaving a job etc. Once you've written them all down, you start to see things differently. Really hope that's useful. I'm sure you've got lots going for you and if you don't have much to write down, maybe think of some things you would like to do in the next few years, wishing you all the best 💖

Astute observation. More interesting is the fact that you made at least 50 people scroll up and look at Robert Greens table.

What a tremendous success story. I’m surprised he lived over seas for so long! As a lost 22 year old, Robert’s story inspires me to expand on my experience and really ask my self what it is I am good at, and what it is that I can offer.
thanks for watching!
Oh boy is that the truth about ENVY being the biggest danger…. You don’t see it until it’s too late …… ENVY…. made my life a total misery… but at the time I didn’t know and was not aware that was the reason why I was being persecuted… I was oblivious.. …I am soo grateful to Robert Greene ..and his books… also for these videos they are very much appreciated Thank you 🙏 💛🌻🏴🇦🇺
Thanks so much , very enlightening
I’m reading the Laws of Human Nature and his writing style is so effortless and easy to understand and interpret. I like listening to him talk too
thanks for watching Julia!
I owe a lot of my success and thriving in life to Robert Greene. From “The 48 Laws of Power”, to “The Art of Seduction”, to “Mastery” and “The Laws of Human Nature”
I feel that I understand relationships, inter-personal dynamics and can maneuver in every type of environment, thanks to this wise man.
Thanks Rob!!!
Genuinely did you learn anything applicable from his book on seduction?
I think it's one of the worst books that has been written on the topic in the last few decades.
Went to high school - NCSSM 1989-1991; was likely the dumbest kid in the whole school. It was very tough but I acceptable that I cannot compete in life in certain fields/areas. Since high school, failed many times, rejected many times. Allowed me to rethink what I can be good at and help me develop persistence and the habit of work hard. Now, I am part of a happy family and a "relatively" successful nephrologist.
Great interview as a 35 year old man, I can start to feel that mentality, Im not in the worst place, but I feel I need that step up, and also to hear the true self. Very inspiring, thank you.
wow, your personality's really complemented each other, in the sense that you really listened and timed your questions rightfully so as he was speaking about the right topic and Robert greene answered every question with an amazing level of clarity and honesty whilst still managing to be contextual and using science and experimental studies as evidence. I`m embarrassed to have honestly written an entire paragraph but I`m literally so impressed.
Well said :)
Yeh- Wish we could all have conversations like this lol
Absolutely. I’m impressed
Robert Greene is still going strong! Still hungry. I love this man🌹
thanks!
The mindset that you're on the right station, you're just dialing in the frequency is perfect!
That's a really helpful way to look at finding your Life's task!
The fact that Robert Greene said get rich or die trying after collaborating with 50 just made this the greatest interview on earth

Yoh have no idea Robert how much difference you have created in my life. I will always be indebted to you for the wisdom you have shared through your books.
Amazing interview. We need more minds like Robert Greene in this crazy insane fake world we are living in
I agree
the world is fake but Robert is the insane one,by trying to be authentic.
Obviously you haven't read his books 🤣
I agree he is amazing 😍
Deflect envy...my god if l wrote all these books with all that cash no one would get a look in...l would love it..

Robert Greene the 50 cent story is pure gold. If one is going to "fail" along this path, what better story than that! ROFL!!!
I had the pleasure of interviewing Robert for my podcast. Such a pleasant guy. So polite and humble.
Greene is a mentor of mine, even if he is not personally aware of it 🙏💕✌️
I'm so amazed at how Robert is so humble and modest even with the amount of fame and popularity he received in the last 20 years, it's so rare these days.
Outstanding interview, your interviewing skills are simply amazing!
thanks!
I love Robert Greene’s books I am obsessed with this man, he’s so down to earth and so humble. ❤❤❤
I. Was born in 59 also but didn‘t get anywherr near rhis. I read the 48 laws of power and value this book with accuracy. Being a lawyer who must use language and preciseness as a tool to work with, this interview is very inspirational.

This is speaking directly to my soul as a writer. Thank you Mr. Greene, thank you Behind the Brand.
May Robert greene live long!
I appreciate his well though out responses and at 67, I’ve also had a very challenging life full of adventures with the ups and downs. I always thought I might like to be a author, but I didn’t know what I could write about, so that others would be interested in reading my story’s. Now with this interview, it has given me the seeds to play with, and develop some aspects of my own life’s journey to commit the written page.

Robert Greene is great for inspiration and grounding, sensing where you're lacking in your discernment of how your view of the world could be improved.
Robert Greene'i çok seviyorum. Onun İktidar kitabı sayesinde derin bir depresyonun karanlıklarından kurtuldum.
Really... Wow gives me hope

I would pay you to wite a book i have the story for.
Thank you sir, anytime I see a long content video about Robert Greene I always gain tremendous insight. Not only about human nature but about myself.
Change your friends. Move to the country and get a small job.

48 laws of power is so important for everyone to read once and when you feel abit of a dip in life and you are looking for an answer again re read it or parts you need from it, you may find that something you were missing or failing to understand in how to play your next move and to make it one of your best
I like that your way of interviewing has provided a chance to hear Robert's words in a sort of spontaneous chat. I could clearly hear what he had to say about different things- which is incredibly helpful.
I am enamored by Greene and his ideas. Excellent interview! The interviewer didn’t waste a question or any time!
I have been listening to this interview so many times, maybe more than 50 times, now I get It 🥰🥰🥰 I already get What my talent is, just take times to improve it many years
hearing those of your setbacks makes me feel im long way up to my life to be depresed about in my own situation right now. this makes me feel so great and motivated.
kind of relating too
Thanks to this, I decided to quit social media forever.
Boo hoo

I kinda did the same so I totally understand ur perspective, its very lonely n depressing but it doesn’t help totally especially in today’s world . I dnt have the appropriate answers as i am trying to find for myself too maybe thats why iam on this video

sometimes yes, sometimes no
This is true, but before you seek control, you should first seek to know who you truly are at a core level. Ignore that step and you'll just be spinning your wheels going nowhere.

I'm just like Robert Greene, a classic introvert who just can't stand political and social games, especially now that I'm almost 37 years old and have worked so many different jobs.
Correct, one must be in control of his mind, feelings, actions. Power is nothing without control.
working on it
It's funny Robert mentions at the very end that he wasn't being himself and that he needed to be himself, while in another interview with Patrick David about the "Laws of Human Nature", he stresses the importance of being a good actor and NOT being yourself.
But I guess in essence he just means that you just need to be true to yourself and who you are, and then be a good actor with other people around you who do not know or see your true self. Only you know who you are, not other people. You show them what they like to see.
I believe everything what Robert Greene says. I think his wonderful man and I am learning lot listening him. Thank you Mr Greene!
I love how Robert quotes Get Rich or Die Trying as he's talking about 50. Robert you are my favourite author hands down, you gave me hope in my interests and showed me that it's possible to have a mentor who's an ex con hip hop star and another one who's an established billionaire CEO.
