🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on RUclips yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Wondering how to join these squares? Here's 3 different techniques you can try! 😀🧶 ruclips.net/video/6z8cpynq_Bs/видео.html 👈
That would be perfect! I always have trouble joining the squares and deciding on a border. Part two and three absolutely brilliant idea
Nice!
SUGGESTION: Please consider producing a part 2 of this video about exactly how you would suggest joining these beautiful squares together. A part 3 could be a final border you would suggest for surrounding this blanket.
I agree! I was going to post this as a question 😊
Agreed! Please!
I didn't want to kurb anyones creativity with giving set rules for these squares incase people wanted to join them diagonally or mix them up with solid coloured squares HOWEVER, if you wanted them exactly as they look in the thumbnail, I'd be tempted to either sew them together OR crochet them together at the BACK of the work - you can do any join you'd like though! 😃🧶
You could also keep going and make one large granny square blanket if you prefer? You could experiment with the colour changes to make all sorts of patterns!
As for borders, again, I don't like to give set rules so literally ANY border you fancy really!
A mattress stitch would hide the joining seam and then a simple double crochet boarder could be a suggestion.
Yes please.
This would have to be one of the most beautiful granny squares I have seen, definitely on my “to do” list.
That is so kind, thank you so much!🥰
Hooked by Robin always chooses the coolest colors!
Thank you!🥰
What a wonderful tutorial. Clear, concise and no annoying music. I love this granny square and can’t wait to get started on it.
Thank you so much! 🧶🥰
Love how you get such color variation without a million ends to weave in! 🙂
Me too, weaving in ends is not fun! 😂😃
I learned this pattern from a different RUclips video, but I love how you put 2 chains in the corners instead of 1, I think it helps it lay more flat. I also really appreciate you showing the back, because I thought I was making a mistake by being able to see the color carries. You're an awesome and thorough teacher!
Thank you so much Steph, I’m glad the video helped. These squares are so pretty!😃

I love a beautifully colored piece with so few ends! It’s so stunning with the colors you’ve chosen, and they’ll look amazing together on a blanket.
The "so few ends" was 100% my favourite part of this entire square! 😅🧶
The yarn colors you use makes it pop and more interesting.
😃🧶
Love this design. I do a lot of granny square blankets and donate them and this will make a pleasant change. You are naver to old to learn. I'm 83. Cheers from N.Z.
You are so right Patricia! You are NEVER too old for anything full stop! 🥰🧶
I'm 60 and just coming back to crochet. I've never done anything but a granny square and only 5 or so since I was hmm was going to say 13 but 16 or 17 sounds right. I love this combo so.much I must make it. Would live king size but I bet I would go over 1 000 dollars! I'll make a cheap redheart king size some day maybe. But i want this shine !
This block is absolutely gorgeous!!! It is so much fun to watch your expertise and creativity!
Thank you so much Sherry! 🥰🤗
You scared me silly!! I couldnt find this vudeo!! I got tge uce yarn. Then white. Then decided it didnt look like enough and ordered more. Then we had bad weather. Then i have been sick and more bad weather ( texas) . I was about to start as soon as arthritis eases iff from the weather. I hope i have enough yarn. I splurged on this. THIS tutorial and yarn is what has got me wanted to crochet again for the first time in decades. Granny square is all i know. But i spotted another stitch i hope you leave up too. Dear Lass, hello. I love the Granny Squares, but I haven't seen it done like this. I have been crocheting over 85 yrs. And those colors. I have been using Red Heart for yrs and they used to have so many colors and then stores stopped selling all those colors. But thankbyou for sharing the yarn with us. My neighbors gr gr gr granddaughter got on her phone and showed me how to find the Ice yarn on my phone. I am ordering many colors. Thank you so much. 👵 👍

I don't know why but I'm bored with granny squares now I've made so many but I'll get back into them again
I tend to have periods where I'm OBESSED and only make granny squares then just stop and not make any for months and months 😂
@@HookedbyRobin crochet is great because there's just such a choice of patterns and styles to choose from and you actually taught me how to crochet so thanks Robin 😁
Hi beryl
I’m the exact opposite when I feel bored I start making granny squares!
Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington, Michigan, USA
Thank you so much Brandy!🥰🤗
Omg, I had to like and comment before even watching. I have to go through my stash and then watch with yarn at the ready because I love the look of this so much!
Thank you so much Natalie!😃🥰
Carrying the yarn was easier than I thought it would be. I absolutely love this pattern. The timing of finding this video was perfect as my husband surprised me with rainbow yarn because I had mentioned how beautiful I thought it was. Didn't have a clue what to make with it and I came across your video. Thanks for making it! 😊
What an amazing surprise Donna, I love that!🥰 I’m glad my video helps, it suits these squares so well.x
Simply brilliant, you clever girl!!!💖💖💖
Awwh, thank you!🤗🥰
Wonderful! I’d love to keep going to see what a giant square looks like! Thank you .
Thank you Laurel! 😃 I think a huge blanket like that would be amazing.🌈
I would also love to see it! I have been playing around with continuing it but I am stuck on how to start each new row. Is each new corner meant to be the opposite color? Would I slip stitch until the first corner or would I start it like row 4? And then would I do 3 double crochets with the rainbow into the open space right before the corner or no? Lol thanks in advance to anyone that can explain it lol
Absolutely beautiful and so creative! Love the tile look and color changes, with very few ends to sew in. 🧡👏💙 Excellent tutorial, too!
Always love not many ends to sew in! 😃 Thank you so much for watching.🥰
Never crocheted before but was transfixed by this tutorial.. loved the multicoloured yarn. Might give crocheting a go
Definitely give it a go! This playlist I made for beginners may help you too:

Thank you so much Monica!😃🤗
Beautiful color you're using!
It is so pretty!😍🌈
Great video, very helpful, I love this granny square🤩
Thank you Katelyn!😃🧶
I received my Rainbow yarn this morning and crocheted a square using an ordinary DK white acrylic yarn, as I couldn’t get the ICE yarn you recommended. Once I got the hang of floating the yarns (CAL with your video), it was fun to do and looks great.
I will do some more squares tomorrow - thank you for a beautiful pattern, and for explaining it so well that even this rookie managed it.
You're welcome Frances and I am glad you got some of the rainbow yarn, it is beautiful! 😃😍
Very nicely made thanks for sharing it beautiful ❤️
Thank you Mary!😃🧶
The Picasso yarn is very seductive - and quite tricky to use! It's easy to work with physically, but one must find a pattern that showcases the color changes well. Otherwise, I think the result is an overwhelming jumble of very strong colors. This pattern uses the Picasso yarn beautifully. Thanks for this well-taught video lesson.
Thank you so much Zebra! 🥰🤗
I'm going to do this right now! Thank you!!😀🧶🧶🥰
Yay! That's what I like to hear! 🤗🧶
That is the coolest square. Thank you
Thank you Ann! 🤗🥰
Love this so much!! I am currently working on your puff flower blanket, but this will be my next projekt for a beautiful cardigan! 🥰
