Think about it. How far can you go in your car, after leaving your home, in 11 minutes and 30 seconds? This plane went from jetway rollback, to high above the clouds in that same amount of time. That's really showcasing the marvel of the advances of all this technology. I think that is so cool. Way to go to everyone involved.
Man airplanes are gonna lose their soul for a while until we adjust to it, and then once we hardcore aviationist get over ourselves, we can start to appreciate the engineering and science that went into making these machines safer and quieter, and also more efficient. Right now I'm offended though yet impressed at the same time. lol
Yup, definitely not the most exciting aircraft from a spotter's perspective (in regards to the quieter engines), but there's still plenty to appreciate.
Interesting sound, really is like one of the latest wide body aircraft! I'll miss that famous 'buzz-saw' sound on the older A320s though, that was epic.
PW absolutely nailed it with the geared turbofan engine. It's a huge feat of engineering to make the fan spin three times less than the turbine. It keeps the fan tips subsonic thus decreasing noise and vibration as we can hear on this video. I hope the authorities will force PW and GE to combine their technologies into one engine with the potential of reducing by 30% noise and atmospheric pollution.
The technology has much more growth potential. If they start putting exotic materials and the like, P&W feels they can be more than 30% efficient than current engines. That's huge.
I thought it was 20%, but then given the semantics of advertising we never really know what they are comparing it to. The LEAP engine also made claims that are hard to evaluate but not nearly as much as P&W GTF. I think the success of this also scared off Rolls-Royce from their open rotor concept. GE open rotor was 30% better than the P&W JT8-200 of the day on MD-88. But what are they comparing this one to? V2500?
I agree! I miss the roar, it was also most like a growl the engines use to make. Very quiet now... Remember the old DC-10 Growl or whine those P&W use to make! Great video!!!
They won't buzz. The purpose of the reduction gear is to make the fan rotate below transonic blade tip speed and to allow the turbine to rotate much faster than the fan.
That’s amazingly quiet!!! So glad the saw mill or cow mooing sound is just barely noticeable at full power. Will make for a much more pleasant plane ride.
I don't like the idea of a geared turbofan ie, more to go wrong, but it sounds nice, like a 777 and is quiet and powerful, that plane just hopped off the ground and kept climbing . Impressive!
Actually, I watched this again and again, and noticed that at 8:47 an onwards you can actually hear abit of a roar, but you have to listen carefully and look for it...it is there though.
+LUX Spotting No, it does not. If anything, the spool up sounds closer to RR Trent 1000 / XWB, while the takeoff thrust sounds different from anything else. People should just stop saying every modern turbofan sounds like the GE90 when it's not, it's getting ridiculous.
I flew a320neo for the first time couple of days ago, and comparing it to the older generations, it sounded ''weaker'' (quieter) than the older generation, but still performed the same, or even better. quite impressive, and also for passenger comfort, a bit more relaxing probably. still i like the buzzsaw of the cfm and similar engines (because i grew up with it), but people will probably say the same about the cfm-leap engines etc. its going to be interesting to see how it will be in the future
I just love these big engines start up, wings are moving fast as regards design, don't blink, going to more a military design CAD and CAM, and very cleaver Aero guys. my pleasure, Air Clips.
The plane sounds like a lower-volume 787. Probably because of the relatively slow speed of the front fan compared to many other high-bypass engine types.
Hell of a nice video and very interesting description. Thanks mate ! BTW, it seems like the A320neo does a lot of noise during startup, am I right ? :)
7:00 sounds like a mini GE90
I love the blue-green line in front of the enormous fan, it makes the engine look even cooler
Its like a mini 777!
Big beautiful engines? :p
PW1100G does look like a mini PW4000
baby 777
That'll be the embraer e2 jets

Great comment. No better way of articulating what most of us feel!
it has a similar sound to the GE90
love that blue ring inside the engine
I cant believe how quiet that engine is! Absolute Eargasm!
That was the most spectacular climb out video I have ever seen. Great job
WOOW !
I thought the same !
Interesting sound, really is like one of the latest wide body aircraft! I'll miss that famous 'buzz-saw' sound on the older A320s though, that was epic.
Kevin Andrew the a320 is narrow body
nardgames He means like a wide body's engine's sound like GE90 on 777
Looks like a 777 with winglets and shorter wings haha :D
Why are new jet engines sounding like ge 90s these days mm?
That was a powerful take off, loved the sound !
It's so quiet. I love it. Thanks for sharing this.
Too silent :/
I miss the Roar...
I agree! I miss the roar, it was also most like a growl the engines use to make. Very quiet now... Oh well!
But not when I fly for 5-10 h. But yes, at the Start i Miss it too.
Yup the A350 has one kind of
Yes, sorry it's A330 Ceo* ^^'
Skylax Oh ok :D I prefer the RR trent sound. The P&W sounds like a broken hair dryer. The CF6 is ok for me :)
no more roarrr
The spool sounds like a triple seven's PW4090 without a buzzcaw

RR nailed it many years ago with the 3 spool RB211 series of engines! Short rigid spools with none of the shaft bowing issues of the PW1000.
wow, 777 sound ??
WOOW!! Very gorgeous and steep take-off in FRA. I am deeply in love with these brandnew Airbus single-aisle seat planes
Music to my ears. What an amazing spool up
I like that engine. Looks powerful and solid despite being really quiet.
I agree! I miss the roar, it was also most like a growl the engines use to make. Very quiet now... Remember the old DC-10 Growl or whine those P&W use to make! Great video!!!
Engines are quieter no buzzing
+mike97525 The aircraft was light today, there was no need for much power.
They won't buzz. The purpose of the reduction gear is to make the fan rotate below transonic blade tip speed and to allow the turbine to rotate much faster than the fan.
Amazing plane, and liked how it climbed so quickly.
I love the spool up on this thing, it just feels so powerful! However, the full thrust sound is pretty anti climatic...
if the bus is this quiet can you imagine the C-Series with their pratts
No rattling noise. amazing
this baby spools up like a 787
That’s amazingly quiet!!! So glad the saw mill or cow mooing sound is just barely noticeable at full power. Will make for a much more pleasant plane ride.
Awesome video mate!
OMG those engines sounds like their big brothers on the a350!!, amazing video!
Absolutely true. Efficiency increases profit margin...for the carrier. I started in1959 at TWA. Spent 12 yrs. in the industry.
What an awesome looking engine
I like the shape of the engine rotor blades
nice! It sounds like a 787...
+HD Aviation Videos ✈ which engine varient?
The A320neo has two variants: PW1000 and CFM International LEAP. This one you see has the PW, and it sounds like the GE90, Trent 1000, and GEnx.
its like a GE90 but without the moaining roar thing when it builds up the power..
The A319 and A320 were always my favorite planes to fly on FSX :P
What a climb rate!
One of the most beautiful takeoffs I've seen
Excellent. Clean, quite and smooth.
Listen closely around the 9 minute mark, you can almost make out the buzz saw/roar sound on climb out
Awesome video! Thanks
I don't like the idea of a geared turbofan ie, more to go wrong, but it sounds nice, like a 777 and is quiet and powerful, that plane just hopped off the ground and kept climbing . Impressive!
This plane is allmost 8 years old, time flies as fast as a plane!!!
Yes it is always hard to get reminded of the faster getting flow of time :D
thanks for the video, good job
Impressive! Thanks for sharing
Beatiful fan on this engine... Very hard power!!!!
dat climb rate :0
well until climb power is engaged :/
almost as good as an MD-90 eh?
Flying A320 next Saturday from EWR to Fort Myers !!
Actually, I watched this again and again, and noticed that at 8:47 an onwards you can actually hear abit of a roar, but you have to listen carefully and look for it...it is there though.
Does anyone know why u cant hear any engine roar in the neo planes?
Because the engines are built different.
Amazing video!
kinda sounds like the 77W
haha that is awesome, sounds like a mini GE90!
Impressive climbing speed!!
Nice vídeo. Congratulation.
I love this new engine
Top Class ! Thanks for Sharing...
i love engines with round spinners
Amazing video
Am I the only one who thinks it sounds like the GE90? :-o
+LUX Spotting just a bit :)
I was thinking exactly that!
Not quite.
+LUX Spotting yeah plus, the trent 500
+LUX Spotting No, it does not. If anything, the spool up sounds closer to RR Trent 1000 / XWB, while the takeoff thrust sounds different from anything else. People should just stop saying every modern turbofan sounds like the GE90 when it's not, it's getting ridiculous.
holy hell just realised these where in service
The future has arrived. the neo versions look awesome, so sleek
Man, that thing can climb!
Beautiful plane....
Superb video. Incredible climb rate.
I wonder if this engines would work well on MD-80 series.
Sounds like a 777 spool up
I flew a320neo for the first time couple of days ago, and comparing it to the older generations, it sounded ''weaker'' (quieter) than the older generation, but still performed the same, or even better. quite impressive, and also for passenger comfort, a bit more relaxing probably. still i like the buzzsaw of the cfm and similar engines (because i grew up with it), but people will probably say the same about the cfm-leap engines etc. its going to be interesting to see how it will be in the future
Thanks for your awesome comment I know what you mean I think comparing them will never include the nostalgic aspect
That takeoff was hella quick
Yes I also didnt thought it would go off that quick
5:10 - Aegean
Excellent video and info. Thanks!
B777-300ER Engine Sound
I'm glad the engines are Pratt and Whitney on some neo planes
Where is this? Nice runways. I like the new quiet engine vs engines that sound like about to blow.
That is one quiet engine .... sweet
nice video...what flight was this?
Sounds sexy, sounds powerful and looks like a mini GE-90!! What else could we ask for?? LOVE it!!
I just love these big engines start up, wings are moving fast as regards design, don't blink, going to more a military design CAD and CAM, and very cleaver Aero guys. my pleasure, Air Clips.
Were the engines leab 1 A or pw 1000 G ı couldn t knew
It sounds like a Boeing 777 with the GE90-115B
I'm guessing that's going to be a signature sound for large diameter high bypass engines.
Sounds like a mini Trent XWB
It may not roar, but it's still a thing of beauty.
The plane sounds like a lower-volume 787. Probably because of the relatively slow speed of the front fan compared to many other high-bypass engine types.
Thats exactly right. Thanks to the gear reduction technology, the fan can run at slower speeds.
Fantastic!!!!
At glance, the sound is similar to a RR Trent series on high compressor spooling sound.
Hell of a nice video and very interesting description. Thanks mate ! BTW, it seems like the A320neo does a lot of noise during startup, am I right ? :)
The takeoff sound literally sounds like a b777 200/300
Who else thought this sounds like a 777 on take off.
+Kaipeternicolas Friend wasn't kidding. Weird because it's PW, but I thought about the GE90.
I thought these engines where the new geared turbofan the CS Series has. Has a distinct wine
Surely this is one of the more quiet engines out there and it did not flinch a bit..
Cant wait for this model to arrive in fsx
Nice Video Bud.
Great video! Just a question: no PTU valve sound on this new A321neo?
6:57 TO/GA Toggle
anyone else misses the barking dog? 😭
I never knew Frankfurt runways were so long
genial video..., impresionante
Man I was waiting for that A320's ROAR....😓
these engines are SERIOUSLY quiet.
6:58 takeoff
Very nice but i like the sounds the old two spool engines made
Very good flight!
