    This is one of the best video reviews I've seen on YT-- You got to the point-- you stayed on topic-- you told how much it cost upfront -- you briefly told about the shortcomings of the machine and how you fixed it --you gave a good demonstration of the capabilities of the machine without a lot of needless repetition-- you told what HP of tractor you were using with it and how it worked with that HP class of tractor-- You actually showed exactly how the machine cut the grass by throwing it back with your foot You didn't waste my time with a nerve grating loud music and video introduction-- You didn't stick your face right in the camera and say in a high screechy voice "Hi I'm the Stoney Ridge Farmer" like an irritating idiot. You kept the video within a reasonably short length of time without talking about how the chickens are doing and how the weather has been (reason #2). Good Job Mr. Gross !!

    Great video! I bought the exact same one last year and have also experienced great results so far. I run mine with a "white Kioti" Bobcat ct2040hst and the 65in ditch bank flail matches up nicely with it. As you mentioned in previous comments it's very important to tilt the mower about 15 degrees back so it rides solidly ok the rear roller. I have a hydraulic top link which is handy for this being able to adjust the angle of approach on the fly.

      @@billygrossjr.5585 Well I bought one, the 200DB Flail Mower by Titan Attachments. Had problems out of the crate it didn't include enough lower hitch pins to actually connect it to the tractor (ie. it comes short 1 lower hitch pin). Hydraulic hoses kept unscrewing themselves in the 1st few hours of use causing hydraulic fluid to spray everywhere! Then the tilt cylinder unscrewed itself and went to spraying hydraulic oil all over the mower. While trying to figure that out (re-tightening it didn't seem to stop the fluid from spraying from it), I noticed the belts seemed really loose so I took the belt covers off and found that the PTO gearbox mount welds were cracking open like zipper's being unzipped! That was the end of that mower, after like 8 hours of trouble-laden mowing.... but Titan Attachments did send me a replacement 200DB flail mower free of charge it took about a month before they shipped it (drought here in Texas stopped weeds and all from growing so I wasn't in an extreme rush I guess). Replacement mower did much better for about 8 hours of mowing but then the tilt hydraulic cylinder on it began to unscrew itself! I caught it this time before it ruptured internally like the 1st unit did. I got it all but 3 threads screwed back in, but it needs to be thread-locked I'm guessing. Otherwise, replacement mower still came short 1 lower lift hitch pin (I just took one from the original mower and used it), the rubber discharge flap just comes all to pieces in no time it's very easy to tear single-layer rubber, the jack stands for these mowers make NO sense they aren't the same height and neither is tall enough to even reach the ground so I must use blocks under them to disconnect from the mower! And finally both mowers shed several of those front guard plates they get knocked-off very easily. No rocks or concrete or anything that hard here, just weeds briers grasses and some small

    • @michaelshrader5139
      @michaelshrader5139 2 года назад +1

      ps. The hydraulic hoses I tightened and re-tightened and they just kept unscrewing themselves. So far the replacement mower hasn't had any issues with that happening at least. That tilt cylinder though definitely is going to have to be blue thread-locked to keep it from unscrewing itself and rupturing! Titan Attachments IS aware of the issue. Just saying.

I got a John Donne John Deere 1070 with a rebuilt engine it’s 65 hp. I’m thinking about getting something like this. I have a 7 foot Woods and I we are a 5 foot would brush hog that will take out a I think a 5 inch long it’s got a huge heavy duty 3 inch shaft in it and built like a beast. I like looking for better equipment and would rather buy that used if I have to then something less heavy duty that’s new. When you see something that last it matters.👍👍

    Great, objective review. Nice job! This really helped. When using these ditch bank flail mowers to mow pasture fields (not high brush or high grasses) what ground speed can you mow? For example I can mow up to 4-5 mph with my flex wing rotary cutter (John Deere E12) and still do a great job.

    • @billygrossjr.5585
      @billygrossjr.5585  2 года назад

      Thanks! I would say probably similar speed? I am pretty OCD and am bothered when I don’t cut all of the blades of grass lol so I mow slower than I could I am sure I could. I typically mow tall grass at about a walking speed (probably 3mph). So shorter, more sparse grass in a pasture would probably be quite a bit faster?

    • @michaelshrader5139
      @michaelshrader5139 2 года назад

      I find the roughness of the ground being mowed to be my limiting speed factor. I don't want to shake the tractor and mower apart going too fast over fields that haven't been properly cared for in years already! If your ground is smooth enough and you don't have obstacles to be on the lookout for (such as discarded wire or concrete pipes etc. that might be hidden) then you can go at least as fast with a flail mower as with a rotary cutter.

    I bought the 86" version--WORST mower I have ever seen!!! I saw plenty of videos of the ditch bank mowers and thought they are all the same so I bought the Titan.. Took it to my field, started it up and set it down on the ground, I really thought the mower was running backward!! That is it just wasn't cutting, it just rolled over the grass--nothing. I raised the mower up so I could see under it, yup it was spinning and in the correct direction. The problem is the flawed design, the front of the mower pushes over the grass (lays it down) since the grass is so long by the time the cutter goes over, the roller in the back just pushes it down more and the blades just go over the top.. The problem is the front of the mower being too low, I don't want to plasma off 4 inches of steel from the front to make it work, but that is what it needs. Some would say just precut the grass then go over it--Seriously? I am not going to waste fuel to double cut anything! Hell, my 8 foot bush hog or my sickle mower do better on their worst day!

      Dang man, sorry to hear that.. maybe the 86” is a different design?? I am impressed with how well mine cuts.

      @@billygrossjr.5585 Billy, yes, it basically is the same but it is longer and I think the cutting head is too high inside the machine, I could lower the machine to the ground about an inch but I don't think it will make any difference plus it would also mean putting the 3 point frame on the ground too. When I ran it, I set it down nice and level, ran it and did not realize that frame on the 3-point was cutting a ditch through my yard. That is another issue that yours does not have, the frame where your 3 point connects is even, on mine the frame on the "passenger side" :-) extends down below my link by about 6 inches on that side. Look at the 3rd and 4th picture here: www.palletforks.com/tractors/3-point/mowers/flail/titan-3-point-offset-flail-ditch-bank-mower/FLAILDB-GROUP.html
      You will see how the frame hangs below the lower link ,,and that is with the frame level as it should be

      Are you sure your 3-point hitch isn't just set too low when in operation?
      I would try lengthening your top link considerably, which will result in raising your 3-point hitch as well as raise the leading edge of the mower (the primary issue you have).
      The base of the mower may not be level, but does that matter?

    Sounds to me like you shouldn't be giving advice .
