The fact that they modified the old TV with a Smart TV on the inside was the cleverest solution they could come up with. Now they can watch all the modern channels with their vintage TV.

I was born in 53 and this is my life! My dad used to sell and service Motorola, Zenith, RCA, and other brands. If memory serves the Motorola Quazar featured works in a drawer and it really cut into dad's repair business. Printed, solid state circuit boards that could be easily replaced took the place of vacuum tubes. It used to be my job to work at the shop bench, vacuum out all the dust and dead bugs, and remove and test each tube - then replace the dead ones. I also sorted electronic parts in shop inventory by color codes, and by age 9 or 10 I got to answer the phones. I would ask questions so dad could trouble shoot the problem and pack the right diagnostic gear and parts he might need on the in home service calls that I scheduled. (I was a precocious, old soul.). Getting the old tube sets fixed now is difficult. Your lamps and lampshades - more memories! I could go on and on, but I will spare you! 😁 Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.❤

My dad's first job was an assistant for a tv repair man. He went on to become an electrician and repairs antique electronics as a hobby. He has cathedral radios, tvs with 8 inch screens and all kinds of photographs. The old tubes are probably hard to find because he hoards them all lol Any time he finds any online he snaps them up.

My mom is 82 and doesn't go near a computer. I know if I showed this to her, she would say, "Boy have I got a lot of junk for her!" She is still in the house I grew up in. My parents made due with hand me downs from their parents, first marriages, etc. She DOES have a LOT of your stuff. We had a sunburst clock in the dining room. She had the pole lamp by her sewing machine. The big pink chicken Pyrex bowl with handles was our popcorn bowl, and she has one of those Siamese cat statues on her dresser to this day. (It has plastic whiskers and is the color of butterscotch!) Oh, and the little statues with chains with two babies attached! It makes me very happy that when I do have to clean out her house some day, there will be people who will love and adore all her wacky old stuff. LOVED this video!

In 1986, my mom remarried. My Dad’s family home had a 1960’s electric stove bought to replace his Grandmother’s wood stove. She never used it. It had been stored in the pantry all those years. The buttons lit up in pink, blue, green, and some other colors. I loved the deep well. I believe your stove has one too. For anyone looking at the cooktop, check out the left back eye. Do you use the deep well often?

What a fun home. I like that you're not afraid to incorporate modern tech with vintage because the overall impression is faithful to the period and the mood. Collections that are livable and enjoyable are the best because collecting things can become an all consuming obsession which really kind of defeats the purpose to begin with which is to have a beautiful home that you can enjoy and visitors can admire. Congratulations.

Very cool! I have one suggestion.... instead of the light switches that swivel up-dpwn, get the push-button wall switches (often with mother-of-pearl inlay), which are relatively easy to install. I have that in a couple locations in our house and they are a fun way to add to the retro feel.

However is is old, it is the second oldest record player ever designed, before the large speakers or like horn looking thing was adding. It sounds old, reminds me of pearl harbor music lols.

I dont recall if I already commented on this video but I LOVE YOUR HOUSE! I've always been into vintage things and the fact you've made your house into a living breathing functional time capsule is beyond amazing. You're right, it's like going back in time and I cant say it enough I LOVE your house!! Fantastic job with the decor and finding acquiring everything. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Have you made a video tour for the rest of the house? Your vintage kitchen is something right out of a 50s tv show. I absolutely love it!!!!

I found the Disneyland plate and the boxing glove. Then I became so interested in what you were saying, I forgot to look for the rest. Also, I was looking forward to seeing your dinnerware and flatware.

YES, that stove was built to last and be efficient,in the way when you take a very hot tray from the oven you were given a place to quickly and safely pop it on the top to the side. Me at home i am burning my fingers trying to find a place to drop the hot tray as everything in my kitchen is sooo in practical and melts.

I thought that microwave ovens came out in the early 70s. They were about is a big as a regular oven, and 2 thirds the length was for cooking, and 1 third of the length of the 'control panel'. Some had an analogue clock on them.

Oh my, that's a great idea for the TV! It would have been nice to get a whole view of each room to understand the layout/how it looks all together.
And just realised, where is part two?!

I truly wish I could find a time machine and go back to the 1950s. Such a simpler time! I know everyone is going to say everything that was wrong with the 50S and 60s. Unfortunately every decade and era had their own set of challenges! 2020 I wouldn't have to think twice about leaving. Cheers ❤

Pretty nice. I grew up in the 60s. Some of your kitchen decorations are not really 50s. As for the microwave: there may have been some rudimentary model custom ordered for the very wealthy. My parents got a microwave in early 1970s, and it was a typical model. It was huge! Microwaves were twice the size they are today. And it had the woodgrain finish. Worked by turning a knob since touchpads were no where near available then.
