This will have to go into the comment response section of the next video. I should've known that mugs made for Portal 2 would've had higher resolution textures.
Another things i know about Portal because Portal is best (plus i don't know if they'll be mentioned later in the iceberg): In the same beta leak in where the end was us getting stuck in Xen, for some reason there was liquid portals which flood the place after we kill GLaDOS and take us to Xen, and another fun fact from that same version is that GLaDOS was made out of Rollermines, or at least that's what the leaks say, i don't really know if those leaks are 100% real, but the liquid portals were a real thing 100% real. The Aperture Science Perpetual Testing Initiative actually has a story, from a universe in where Cave Johnson is not dead (and he goes by Cave Johnson PRIME, to not be confused with other Caves, which is important for the next things i'll say:), Aperture is going bankrupt so Cave gets the idea of going to another universes to fund the non-sense testing and find the money universe before an *EVIL CAVE JOHNSON* (Called: Dark Cave) does, he wants to do this to get back to the original universe and un-bankrupt the original place, but in the end they fail, and i'm not so sure but they end up fixing the original Aperture anyway, his assistant is not Caroline, it's a guy named Greg who we never hear but Cave constantly talks to. 1.- Tho Chell got whitewashed in the second game the original actress for Chell's model is Brazilian-Japanesse 2.- Many people don't see as canon the fact that the science project in Portal 2 says Chell as this could just be something made by the textures artists as a joke (tho in the official GLaDOS potato merch includes that same image in full hd and still says Chell), also another thing to notice is that Chell is said that has no family, relatives, friends or doesn't likes to talk about them as when asked about them (in the lab rat comics) she just stays silent (Classic Chell), i highly doubt she had any relation to Aperture in the past, as even if she were an Aperture scientist's daughter she should know that Aperture is an pretty awful place to be and therefore (if we canonize the original actress', Portal's player model, appearance and/or nationalities) THERE IS NO WAY GLaDOS IS CHELL'S MOM, plus Cave was probably too into """doing science""" to think about the *gladussy* or anything else or to let his assistant go away for at least 9 months, that's what i believe regarding the GLaDOS being Chell's mom theory, plus there's no mention of anything remotely close to any of that in any Portal related thing. Portal is one of the most scientifically accurate games ever made (except for the boots and other minor things), including the cores way of working (kinda), the portal gun (except the conservation of speed between portals if we consider the expanding universe theory as real), and the moon ending (yes, ignoring most imposible things, the ending is realistic, matpat made an entire video about it). Also, it's been scientifically proven that Portal helps in cognitive thinking, problem solving and essentially makes you a big brainer, unlike other games that promise to do the same. There are many places in where you can softlock yourself that were not considered by the devs. The moon's cicles might reference that in the original Portal 2 script you would be able to see the progress of the day, from night (the start) to sunrise (the end), also, there was an ending planned to be posible to achieve barely starting the game, in where you would be able to see the moon and shoot it for a fake ending with credits and music included, this was obviously the inspiration for the ending we all know and love, but still. The Mantis-Man were originally going to play an important role in the original script, no one knows how, but in a recent interview the original writers said that if there's ever a Portal 3 the Mantis-Mans will be important (being the main reason for the mantis civilization joke in Desk Job). There's a theory that says that GLaDOS gave the combine the energy *balls* as a deal for the combine to leave Aperture alone. That's all i can think of for now, sorry if it's too much info, but i really really love Portal it's my fav game of all time.
The moon entry could also be reffering to the theory where Rattman portaled himself to the moon and from there he sent the radio transmission heard in one of his hideouts (which depicts a companion cube on the moon)
just a little more context, hoopy the hoop appears in many locations in portal 2, which is why it may be on the list. The locations seem strange though, showing the dev team almost certainly wanted the community to latch on to it
Epic video, i love that the Portal community is still so active :). btw i wanted to add something to the iceberg, that as far as i know only happens in the spanish version of Portal, which is that the cut GLaDOS dialogue, all of it is dubbed to spanish, i discovered this when ṕlaying Portal Flash (the mod for Portal 1), which reuses some of the original Portal story and cut dialogue that's still in the final game, in the Portal flash ending (which is ONE of the original Portal endings) you would end up escaping while GLaDOS warns you that not even she knows what's going on outside, referring to the combine, for some reason those lines where also dubbed to spanish. not very important, but still i found it neat, btw great vid
I'm pretty sure I know which line you're referring to. Are you sure it got cut? I think it just occurs so late in the boss fight that most people won't even get to hear it.
@@sudologic the lines are there, but they are not played in the original game (if that's what you mean) as those lines where from the original script in where GLaDOS cloned Chell and all that weird stuff (which was reused for the Portal Flash mod), in Portal Flash they play as soon as you destroy the robot, i had the game on spanish and was surprised to listen to the whole mod in spanish, including those lines which i perfectly knew were scraped from the original game, they really dubbed every single GLaDOS line, including the cut ones A line that most likely no one listened to is one that plays once you get the achievement in where you take all the cameras off the walls, you have to wait until GLaDOS stops talking, take the camera off, wait for her camera dialogue to end and continue, do that with every camera in the game, and in the end you should be able to listen to the line
@@sudologic (Edit: I saw the ending again and yes, GLaDOs says the lines i was referring to, not the cloning stuff, the combine ones, i can't believe i forgot that, portal is my fav game ever i will upload a video of me crying in the corner of my room for 45 minutes as an apology)
Viewfinder is probably even more like that cut portal game concept than Superliminal. quite fun, only suffers from being too short like alot of those kinds of games often do.
I had no idea there was an ARG in Portal 1 before the big one for Portal 2. If I'm already learning about cool things I've never heard of, I can't wait to see what lies beneath the surface.
Wait- I- I've seen a few of your videos but never realized how small your channel is! I thought you were just another big youtuber on my feed that I hadn't seen before. Your production quality is great!!! I hope more people catch on and start watching your stuff. Keep on keeping on!
0:55 Actually in the Hammer World Editor there is an entity called weapon_paintgun similar to weapon_portalgun Some leftovers from a really old version of P2
interestingly enough the version on xbox 360 features restricted out of bounds movement and no radios + the old ending which is strange to me. it seems valve made a version with free out of bounds after having already implemented restricted out of bounds previously
Love to, I gotta figure out how. I don't own any of the consoles it was released for, and I don't really want to shell out for the hardware. Maybe I can find it cheap on eBay?
fun fact! the mug models in that rattmann den are re-used from counter strike source, specifically the cs_office map

Wow! Glad to hear it! I'm amazed by how supportive the Portal community can be
