    The video only shows how a basic/simple soap is made. Instead of using water, I use Aloe Vera gel. All other ingredients you may like can be added to the recipe. The soap will be ready to be used after 3 to 4 weeks of curing. For those asking the quantity of ingredients used, here it is:
    76g - Sodium Hydroxide
    185g - Aloe Vera gel
    450g - deodorized coconut oil
    Thank you very much for watching.

      @@poke6983 When you cut the aloe vera leaf, the latex will just drip on its own and when you prepare and wash the gel, the remaining latex will just go off with the water. You can measure the iced aloe vera gel by weighing.

However how does this pan out in the long run for those in the areas where the temperatures drop below 70 I would think that the coconut oil will harden and clog drains. Please wear eye protection and gloves when making soap! Sodium hydroxide is caustic and can cause severe burns, even blindness if it gets into your eye. Also, wooden spoons are not recommended since the lye will cause the wood to splinter, adding wood splinters into your soap. if the quantity of ingredients vary then what will be the effect on product??? for example more or less with caustic soda; more or less Aloe Vera gel; if more or less of oil [with little difference]???

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  3 года назад

      If you add orange peels, the soap will be better.
      If you add more caustic soda, it will be harsh to the skin and will be itchy.
      If you add more aloe vera gel, it will take a very long time to saponify and will take a long time to dry the soap.
      If you add more oil, the soap will be very soft and because it's coconut oil, it will strip off your skin's natural oil. :)

    Thank you for sharing😢 your recipe. I'm just curious who don't you use the mixer? Is that somehow connected to a specific process? Also I'm wondering if the amount of coconut oil won't make skin too dry as it usually does when it's over 25% of the recipe? Thank you in advance for your answers!

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden
      @TheAloeVeraGarden  Год назад +2

      I didn't use a mixer to show that you can make a soap without it. Any soap is drying regardless of oil you use if not superfatted properly. The recipe here is a superfatted recipe. Also, I am using 100% Aloe vera gel instead of water. Aloe vera is naturally a humectant.

    Without going out and buying a blender to make this soap, what is your suggestion to pulp the Aloe Vera, or would a pure Aloe Vera liquid from a grocery store be acceptable?
    Technically, Castile soap is made with 100% Olive Oil, but this looks like a nice soap. On my to try list once I work out the pulping/juicing side of things. :)

    Does it not dry out the skin?

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden

      If you change the oil, you will have to change the amount of sodium hydroxide. Aloe vera soap made of coconut oil does not dry your skin, it's so much different when you use just plain water.

    Thank you for your lovely video. I have a question... do you think that the aloe Vera gel makes the soap last longer in the shower? Or does the soap get used up at the same rate as soaps without the gel?

    • @TheAloeVeraGarden

      Based on my experience, homemade soaps last longer in shower compared with commercial soaps which melts so easily.

      Aloe vera gel does not make it last longer than making soap without the gel. Aloe vera just adds a silkiness to the bar and nice bubbles and maybe some skin soothing properties.

      Essential oils are soap additives, you can add it when the mixture starts to thicken. This is a very small batch, so just a little essential oil will do. If you're already using essential oils, you would know how much to add. It's a personal preference. Just don't use to much as some essential oils can irritate the skin if used too much.

      @@edwintorres884 Cold process soap must be cured for a while to neutralize the lye in it.While soap will form bubbles within the first 24 hours, that doesn’t mean it’s done. Most soaps need 4 or more weeks to cure, or to complete the saponification process, during which fats, water, and lye turn into soap.
