One of my residents is a Jew and I read up on their rituals when someone dies and what they are called, which I think it is (Onen). I was fascinated by the fact that 30 mins after death,they are not to be touched. She died on the Sabbat as well and that in itself is another long ritual.
May she rests in peace ☮️
Why was she buried without a coffin? I thought a pine box was used. May she rest in peace and her memory a blessing.
In Jewish burials, we don't use coffins because it says that we come from ash and return to ash. But some Jews outside of Israel do use Coffin because of laws in those countries which do not allow burial without a coffin.
@@yizhakshachar The wood used should be pine, and have holes in the bottom of it so earth can spread into the holes. Also, no Jewish coffin should have any metal of any kind. Pine is used because it decomposes more or less at the same time of the body.

Actually this video was a waste of time. They were just filming people stand around and the photographer showing his camera. MAY She be a blessed memory.
Thank you for your reply, watching a ceremony is not interesting like watching a movie. The idea here is to show the tradition of funeral in Jewish culture.

Why was that one gentleman in the grave so long? Did he have to position her body in a certain way?

filled, and a metal tray placed
over the grave and more dirt
shoveled over the tray?
the body has to lie on it's back face up, then the guy covers part of the hole with bricks to make some cover over the body, then people put dirt on the rest of the grave hole. About the piece of metal in the end, I don't know about it.

The flowers are a thing of respect, it's not from religion
Flowers distinguishes us from the rich and the poor, us Jews must be buried alike. We can appreciate them when we're alive, but not when we're dead. Like placing a stone or rock on the head stone, a rock lasts for ever, where as flowers do not. I have attended more Jewish funerals recently and have noticed more flowers being present. I kinda like the flowers being there. But some of the older attendees all tut when they see them.
Where was this ? In Canada the body must be in a box.
In the Middle East very common for Jew and Muslim not to use a coffin

we Jews don't do funeral in a temple, we go straight to the cemetery. A rabbi does not need to attend in funeral. But there was someone who did al the instruction and the speech, someone from the cemetery.

Why was the guy with longer black hair taking all the photos and pictures of the entermet
Hi, I'm the guy with the longer black hair, it's my grandmother's funeral. Some of her family members lives in Canada and USA and couldn't come to the funeral, including her younger son. The older son (my father) lives in Israel and he made the longest speech and in English, So I took video and pictures of the funeral so they can watch it from home. I didn't know the funeral will go Viral, I thought only family members would see it.
