Love The British Subhumans. Believe it or not, as old as I am, I've never heard Citizen Fish, or Culture Shock, but I'd love to. Every time I've talked to Dick Lucas, he always seemed like a nice person with a wonderful sense of humor. Good interview.

I was the only one on the audience at 3am at a free festival at the end of the 80s - and this guy just stood there all on his own and sang a whole series of songs in the pouring rain - and I couldn't hear a word of it - but I still felt united by the tone of it!
although I am a Rockabilly ,have Loved Subhumans since the 80's and have still got the singles and the day the country died album that they sold at the gigs. best place to see these guys back then was the red lion pub in Gravesend Kent.
Dick is an absolute LEGEND and to the interviewer… “shitty song/sounding punk bands” Its all about expressing yourself no matter how shitty it sounds. Not the dressing up part. Most Punk legends dont typically dress “punk”.
I've see a lot of people give you crap in the comments, lady. I just wanted to say this is a great interview. Very human. I meet Dick when he played in Atlanta many years. The band came over to our warehouse after the show. I'm pretty sure they stayed the night at our warehouse too though I can't completely recall because I used to drink so much. Why didn't you ask if he remembers the warehouse next to the VW repair shop in Atlanta!? 😂😂😂 2004ish, 2003 maybe? I saw them one time before in 99. I wanted to see them in Atlanta last night and realized that I missed buying the ticket and it had sold out. Oh well! The real kicker is one of my buddies I texted today about missing the show tells me, "you should have hit me up, I had an extra ticket. Gave it away to someone real smelly"😂😂😂😂 Great interview and I think it's important to highlight the fact that punk rock is now is welcoming to all outsiders. And the UK really shows that with anarcho bands as they the years rolled on. I would argue even earlier with "avant-garde". Captain Sensible, anybody? I remember days of the bizarre tribalism between different aspects of the music and such. I got Worlds Apart on vinyl, Blurrg . I'm going to go find some rocks and balance them now. Cheers!
Dick used to send me recordings of his band the Grapes, in the 70s, before he made any records. I used get tapes of different bands from him when he was at college, and he would put his own songs on the end, and chat. One song stands out in my memory, called Feedback Fever. 😃
I've always loved his vocals. Bought a compilation LP as a kid. It was like a 4 EP compilation put one 1 LP. Sounded great on my thrift store record player. Had some savage anger back in those days. Playing music was and still is a therapy session to me. Great interview Erin.
Back in the 80s,me ànd a few others, were in the habit of hitching round the country going to punk gigs, and subhumans were the band I saw all over the place and along with conflict definitely saw the most, got really good memories of them days, could be pretty hard getting lifts sometimes, people tended to be a bit reluctant to give a lift to a punk sometimes, but always got there one way or another, hitched from Luton all the way to Manchester once with a mate of mine, got our days mixed up,all day in the pissing rain, finally got there, gig was on the night before, wtf? Good days 🤘🤘🤘
My God Erin!! Subhumans are just Killer Cool!! You do so well with your interviews, and great of them to take time to talk and hang out with you. Your awesome. Stay Punk my dear.
He’s a good sport and realizes not everyone is going to get it. She’s being lighthearted, but yeah, kind of cringe. She didn’t catch the signs that he was serious.
Really disturbing that you were laughing at nothing, and something he happens to take seriously, you missed the lesson laughing at the wrong time, so awkward. SMH.

Funny. C.Shock sung about postcard punks, and 35years later, Dick gets interviewed by one.
And?
@68andiboy Looks like irony is just something that is experienced by people other than you, Mr 68....
Good to see Dick still up on stage.
Agreed. Very nice guy too.

i love how Erin says "Vinyls"
That has to trigger those gatekeepers lol
My favorite shirt of all time was the Millions of Dead Fish/CitizenDead Cop one . unfortunately I sold it.
Would love to put Organised Chaos back together #Mike ❤
why does she laugh at his rock balancing? he tries to tell her it's not funny and she keeps laughing. terrible.

Let all able boddied men enter the UK because they're flying war torn countries. DEEK
It reminds me
Of the first time fat Mike ever sand the song about killing his mom
Lol. Fat Mike is a derro degen!
Because she's just another left weirdo minded chick.
I respect her tho, she just need more grounded/rooted connection with 80s punk, such as Subhumans
She should interview Noam Chomsky in that get up!
Really disturbing that you were laughing at nothing, and something he happens to take seriously, you missed the lesson laughing at the wrong time, so awkward. SMH.
WONDERFUL ❤ x
Magic!
saw Subhumans in 2003 with Leftover Crack - f'in awesome!!!!
Don't forget his first band : The Mental. Kroezel
Holy SHIT, nice hawk Eric!!!
Thought citizen fish were brilliant
.
Good to hear Dick, but this girl is really annoying. For a few questions, I can see Dick dealing with it internaly. Haha. Oh well.
Craziness. Started in '86, I was 5.
1980, so you weren’t even born.
Brilliant, great interview, respect to this dude legend for long time and nice guy and you beautiful lady x
Oi!
14:20 mega cringe
Yahh yahh.lol
I'm just here because this chick is hot. I'm not even a fan of punk.
Did you notice Dick trying not to look? He was really trying hard. 😂
Lol I see it!
@@fretboardfodder1037 When women dress like this they want to be looked at. It's actually disrespectful not to look or acknowledge their beauty.
Until we call the police 😋
@@OriginalWhiteDevil The thing is, the whole anarcho punk thing is not to objectify women, and he has to try not risk his reputation. 😄
What an awkward looking interview
Turning rebellion into money! Of all the people who should know better than to play that farcical event it's Dick. What a cop out.
Oh my god, didn't they tell you? Punk rock is over.
It is for you ..a LONG time ago
Stop laughing.
All of the "not fit in with society " stuff is nonsense. You work, pay taxes, eat, drive, and go to the dentist. Otherwise, go live in a cave.
Erin you’re hawwwwt ❤
Punk died in 78, This is 2nd phase crap. The mohawk brigade 💩
Nah punks still alive if you know where to look
Your mom prob wasnt even born yet
Why are you here, then? Why are you watching? You don't like it, move on....puzzy.
Really? In 78? No, my son....punk hasn't died. If you don't like it, why are you here, watching and commenting.
Normies and their normie “punk” hairstyles, lol
