The album on which this song first appeared, "Moondance," came out in 1970. I met the woman who became my wife in 1973. The album was a profound element of our soundtrack as we fell in love. I’m 46 years old and I became transfixed with Morrison’s music way back in about 2006, as a 26-27 year old. People would give me the weirdest looks when they would hear what I was blasting. They said I was weird or that music is for old people but I was like “the dude has written some of the best songs, lyrically, than any other singer/songwriter besides maybe James Taylor…” I’ve never went with what was popular, or what people thought I should listen to. Maybe as a performer, but as his first proper album, which was recorded in his early 20s, is my favourite album of all time, I would say he inevitably got worse with age!
He is one of my favorite singer, The man was gifted with the best talent ever I love all his songs and his voice is so lovely What do you admire most about him?🙂
I've heard it said more than once that Van's best performances are the ones where he drops into a club unannounced, borrows an acoustic guitar, and comes out and does an impromptu solo set. Just like this. I've been a fan for more than 50 years.
More than 50 years for me too. Saw him with "Them" several times at The Cellar in Arlington Heights in the 60s. He never stopped getting better all these years. Into the Mystic may very well be my favorite of all.
Musicians from that era all had their own original sound.Van has his own unique vibe and no one writes or sounds like him.One of the greats. So many today sound the same.
um, folks complaining about the staging etc., you do realize that Agape is a Los Angeles Church/spiritual center in the New Thought tradition. Van is playing with the church band probably to help them Fund raise and find a new home after they lost their building recently. And if you dig Van's ability to channel Spirit in his music then you might try to respect a place he apparently gets spiritual sustenance from.
The explanation makes it sound like a New Age center and that it is not. Their ARTICLES OF FAITH are traditional Christian not New Age if that's what "spiritual center in the New Thought tradition" is meant to imply.
Sean Hennessy, you have absolutely ZERO clue about what you're talking about. This place is completely, only, all about living an empowered peaceful, forgiving and whole, healthy existence - mind body and soul . There is nothing they do that is a con, a sales or a peddling of anything for money. ZIP. I will HAPPILY take a look at ANYTHING you have to show otherwise. You know not of what you speak. I get it. You're not a wise, spiritual or loving, forgiving person, nor do you choose to do anything meaningful or positive with your life or your mind. But don't slamthose of us who do. And no, I don't go there. I live in Portland, Oregon. I just happen to want to be as good a person as I can and forgive the past and live a happier, more positive and WORTHWHILE LIFE. You clearly do. Anyway, this was specifically a fund raiser project. News flash: churches (in this case, a spiritual community - not a "religious" tradition - which I'm against, too) THEY DON'T GET RICH OR CON PEOPLE. They just want to continue.
Saw Van in concert 2 days ago at Newcastle and he was fabulous as ever. The young lady who was the backing singer was also a talent in herself - a fantastic voice. At 76 years of age, Van the man is still doing it :-)
@@kathrynclark2757 It was fantastic. I saw him for the very first time about 9 years ago then another time somewhere in between and then this latest time and he was every bit as good, if not better than the first time. He comes out, does his thing then goes away - no messing about and no small talk in between.
Van the man! Nothing more to say. I’m just gonna let this music take me back when life was simple, and people got along without getting offended over ever damn thing.

something about the way that Van sings is so unique and moving - it's like he is by himself and crying out to God. and to see him at 73 and clear and strong as ever is amazing. I fear the day he passes.
How awesome it is to hear him sing this classic song. I still remember hearing him for the first time in 1968 when my mom brought home "Astral Weeks." It became one of our favorite albums in those hippie days and the songs and his voice are timeless.
Fact: I'm alone on island and can only have one artist's music. Yep, Van the Man. So many great songs. So many emotions. And Iris, soul, faith, protesting true injustice. He does it all.
There is no one like Van, just so amazed and happy that he is still honoring us with his soulful vocals and guitar playing. I'm 72 and he's been my musical, lyrical inspiration since 1965. Saw him Live 3 times in the 70's in Dallas and was never disappointed.
When one has a God given talent such as Van's , one must take care of this gift. No smoking, taking to drink to excessive and of course, staying away from drugs. It is truly amazing that his voice is as strong n electrifying as it was 30-40 years ago.
Ol can defies the odds. And another is Graeme Crosby. Some of his recent work is really uplifting. Lord knows but that voice is still there too. His son is a delight and hellava piano player
@Karen D Graeme Crosby?? Did you mean Graham Nash? Graham William Nash, OBE (born 2 February 1942) is a British-American singer-songwriter and musician.Graeme Crosby (born 4 July 1955) is a former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer from New Zealand.[
Hi Rhonda - whoops 😱 I can be such a doofus specially at 3am. I meant David Crosby ex CSNY. The liver transplant one. Lotta ppl in the US don’t much care for him but to me he’s typical of that generation of musicians- a flawed genius.
MDunn - Yes I probably got that impression from YT responses. They're really harsh unless the artist is a bill clinton on sax or something. My personal opinion of D Crosby is I luv him and his eccentricities. His later stuff eg She's got to be somewhere' Sky trails or most tracks on 'Croz'. all that stuff v cool. Not a great Nash fan, but a fine harmonist.

Had I not seen this video, I would never have guessed he was the age he is here - his voice is 👍 , like some others I grew up listening to over 55 yrs ago! THIS is one of my all time favorite songs - the lyrics are meaningful to me for personal reasons, but 💟 it in every way. it's an auditory illusion. you only THINK it's so damn good because you are preconditioned to hear it that way. actually he sounds pretty bad here and if he were just breaking into the business sounding like this he'd have never made it and you'd have never heard him at all!
Listen to that sound in his voice! My God you can only hope to have such talent and he's up in age. He was born with that music inside of him. Thanks Van for sharing it with the world. This recording goes in my dooms day vault. 1000 years from now it will still elicit emotion from the soul

As a young man, I can see why this music is appreciated.
Honestly, Van astounds me with this recording. Oh, boo boo...
Never better.
70's music was the best. Good that you appreciate it 😊
Van the Man! Hot damn, still rocking all them gypsy souls just like back in the day... ❤️

@@maryannedeering1663 my best, what do you admire most about him?
This is not the typical music I’ve listened to throughout my life, but somehow this song takes me somewhere no other song does.
Van sounds as good now as when in his prime. Unbelievable! Legend.
Luv it, after all the years he still reaches my soul ❤️
Damnnn! That voice, as amazing now as it ever was! I remember the days of Them in the mid1960’s. I grew up with some fabulous music!
Live performance isn’t about perfection, it’s about passion. He nailed it.
My favorite uncle was a huge fan of van so I have a soft spot in my heart for Van Morrison too, what a legendary singer/songwriter!
Jesus his voice is as good as ever .. blessed be 🌟
jesus indeed 😉
Amazingly healing…I wanna rock your heart and your soul. Got to share this song with my dad the day he left this plane.

Just as beautiful as the 1st time I heard it. Thank you.
Van the Man - rocking my soul for more than 50 years.
Musicians from that era all had their own original sound.Van has his own unique vibe and no one writes or sounds like him.One of the greats. So many today sound the same.
Presented so beautifully from his precious soul, make me wanna cry. Thank you dearest Van.
That was my favorite version. I love Van Morrison so much
Who couldn't enjoy this a true legend of rock still able to belt out one of the greatest songs ever!
um, folks complaining about the staging etc., you do realize that Agape is a Los Angeles Church/spiritual center in the New Thought tradition. Van is playing with the church band probably to help them Fund raise and find a new home after they lost their building recently. And if you dig Van's ability to channel Spirit in his music then you might try to respect a place he apparently gets spiritual sustenance from.
You mean in a fucking scam snake oil salesman's tent? how fucking dumb do you have to be to get involved with these Agape con men???
@emptyfull1 thank you for confirming that ... here's one for you ... ruclips.net/video/Ku5gd8Gv3Bs/видео.html
Sorry Van the Man you great Poet come back were you belong dont try new return to your old true home.God bless you
Saw Van in concert 2 days ago at Newcastle and he was fabulous as ever. The young lady who was the backing singer was also a talent in herself - a fantastic voice. At 76 years of age, Van the man is still doing it :-)
I bet it was a great show. I would love to see him
@@kathrynclark2757 It was fantastic.

When I'm feeling a bit crap, especially in this time of plague i just put on the Wavelength album, and drift off to a better place and a nicer time.
Same feeling here same thoughts.
You said damn thing. I'm offended. Just kidding. Long live Van Morrison.

Totally amazing.... Van's voice brings me back to the days when music was magical! May he live long.... 'into the mystic'!
I wore many an 8-track tapes out listening to Van the Man from 1970 on. INTO THE MYSTIC is my headstone.
Nearly three years on, awaiting that old fog horn to blow for me listening to Van get down into this great song with a voice still strong and full of soul. He's the Man.

One of my favorite Van tunes since I was a much younger man, Now Im 73 and still moves me into the mystic
I love it!
So many complain about the shortcomings of the equipment and the band and ignore that fact that Morrison just delivered a fantastic performance in spite of it all.
That's what's called a master.
VAN THE MAN is still rocking my gypsy soul after 50 years! LOVE to hear him anywhere, anytime! Saw him at Forrest Hills recently, and he is BETTER THAN EVER!! Bless you Van, for all you have given this world!! Live forever...
His voice us still so beautiful after all the years

He's very well rounded. Can play anything

After all the years & all the times he must have sung this - he still rocks my holy soul.
@Miz Rix Ah, k. didn't know...sorry to offend. Guess that explains why he kept leaving that word out in this performance. What is the accurate name for people who lived in that part of the world with that ethnicity?
One of the greatest sons of Ireland, Van Morrison will be forever immortalised in his incredible contribution to music and joy that touched so many including myself.
❤❤❤
Oh how much I appreciate the extraordinary voice of Van Morrison , he is so Brilliant
I have followed his music since his beggining, Belfast Nr Ireland .👏

I first started listening ti Van when he sang with the group "Them". I absolutely love all his music. A true legend.
something about the way that Van sings is so unique and moving - it's like he is by himself and crying out to God. and to see him at 73 and clear and strong as ever is amazing. I fear the day he passes.
It will break my heart !
How awesome it is to hear him sing this classic song. I still remember hearing him for the first time in 1968 when my mom brought home "Astral Weeks." It became one of our favorite albums in those hippie days and the songs and his voice are timeless.
Hello👋how are you doing today..
Fact: I'm alone on island and can only have one artist's music. Yep, Van the Man. So many great songs. So many emotions. And Iris, soul, faith, protesting true injustice. He does it all.
I was lucky enough to see Van live in 2018, it was, by far, the best concert I have ever seen. He is still amazing. What a treasure
There is no one like Van, just so amazed and happy that he is still honoring us with his soulful vocals and guitar playing. I'm 72 and he's been my musical, lyrical inspiration since 1965. Saw him Live 3 times in the 70's in Dallas and was never disappointed.
Moondance album was and is the BEST collection of songs on one album EVER! Great to see Van's still got it, too!
Wow One of the most gifted songwriters in modern history. ...still rockin' !
That voice is still coming through crystal clear. Pure soul.
Nothing like being in your golden years and nailing it!! You go Van!
I love this song ! One of my old time favourites xx 😘
God what a great song shit I am getting old but still feel young
“Brown Eyed Girl” - 1 of the “all time” greatest songs.
Yes! He has been of our youth ,our middle and will travel with us to our ends! Timeless ageless messages and music. How Blessed we are to have lived this incredible time on the planet snd ".. thanks nto the mystic"! Love you Van Morrison, always your Brown Eyed Girl(age68!)
Bruce S didn't know about RUclips when he sang "everything dies baby that's a fact". I get to listen to this remarkable rendition of a beautiful song and say to myself, "Wow, Van the Man young or old still speaks to me and always will as I sail off into the mystic".
me to my friend as long as you feel that way ..nice one .
Any reason we need to hear about your feces?
VAN'S STILL ROCKIN!!! 🎵🎶🎵
A TRUE "LEGEND",.....FOREVER!!! 💕✌
My absolute favorite of all Van favorites! So gifted.
So here I am how old now and I think about when I was 18 years old and heard this song in a very special state of mind with my love of 51 years. It was such a revelation at the time.
👏 I’m so glad that Van didn’t stop performing! Had I not seen this video, I would never have guessed he was the age he is here - his voice is 👍 , like some others I grew up listening to over 55 yrs ago! THIS is one of my all time favorite songs - the lyrics are meaningful to me for personal reasons, but 💟 it in every way. Van’s and Jackson Brown’s versions are the ONLY two I listen to - and both theirs at least once a day!
I can't imagine anyone else being able to sing this song like Van the man. If could hear only one Van Morrison song, this'd be the one.
Such a sweet life-affirming song---full of sadness, sweetness, strength, letting go, and resolve to go on and on...
STILL GOT THAT UNIQUE VOICE AND DELIVERY.....SO MUCH TALENT!
Absolutely mind blowing. Van Morrison you still rock my soul. God bless you.
Used to listen to this when I was very homesick, the line 'when that whistle blows I'm coming home'. I did get home, could never live abroad again.

Fantastic ...just fantastic voice. Thank you for the great years of great music
How the hell does his voice still sound so damn good, wtf.
scottay69 I like his voice more now as it’s deeper .
Celtic people, Welsh, Irish maintain.
Probably because he uses it all the time singing great music.
it's an auditory illusion. you only THINK it's so damn good because you are preconditioned to hear it that way. actually he sounds pretty bad here and if he were just breaking into the business sounding like this he'd have never made it and you'd have never heard him at all!
@Loic Pais i disagree.
Listen to that sound in his voice! My God you can only hope to have such talent and he's up in age. He was born with that music inside of him. Thanks Van for sharing it with the world. This recording goes in my dooms day vault. 1000 years from now it will still elicit emotion from the soul
After knowing of him for 50 years I recently became a huge fan. One of the best artists ever.
The funny thing is, his best songs you've never heard unless you own his albums.
I have every album

I discovered this beautiful song in the movie immediate family with Glenn Close and James Woods. This song played during a very touching moment between a teenager wanting to give up her child to a childless couple. And this song connected the young girl with the older women played by Glenn close who desperately needed the be a mother. A very touching scene backed up by this wonderful song. Beautiful and it still stirs my heart.
