Finally someone that doesn’t just give the example of “because I am looking for better opportunities” thank you for giving examples of different scenarios
Ben, thank you SO much! I don't know why your channel doesn't have more subscribers! Your videos have FINALLY driven home all the mistakes I've been making in interviews over the last few months, without even realising I was doing it. Really appreciate all the good advice!
@Ben Talks Talent - Interview Advice , Everyone Ben is the best! pls listen to him lol. I feel like I also can be a professional recruiter now! oh btw BEN! Im starting my new job at TESLA, next Monday. Thanks for the coaching!!
Can you do another video with other/new questions Apple asks? such as; tell me a time when you were stranded & you had to come up with a solution? Tell me about a time when a customer asked for something unexpected/unrealistic, what did you do? “
Great video, I also would like to hear from you, how do you phrase your answer, when you have been laid off (at no fault of your own)? A lot of the dinamics are different. Many thanks.
Hi Ben. I just found out about your channel. I am enjoying watching your videos. Thank you for this. How could I answer this question when I start interviewing again since I left my job at a huge technology company because I was on a verge of burnout? Thank you very much!
I'd like you to address what is the best way to tell some potential employers that I left my previous job due to health issues or in some cases, we resign to take care of the family (for example, having a new baby). Thank you very much 😄
Hi Ben, I’ve been watching most of your videos for the past few weeks and it helps me a lot and I’m actually at the last interview which is a meet the team interview for a job that i really want to get. I’ll get the opportunity to meet with the team members that will be working with me if I get the position and ask them questions about the position and company culture. Do you have any tips for this interview? Thanks!
Thank you so much Chang! I am glad you have found them helpful! Have you watched this video? It might be really helpful for your upcoming interview! ruclips.net/video/lvtfvFdLuXM/видео.html
@@BenTalksTalent Hey Ben. So they skipped the final interview and gave me the offer! Your videos really helped me a lot! Thanks for all the wonderful videos and keep up the good work!!!
Hi may you do how to go into your new job if a disgruntled employer didn't honor your 2 weeks notice? Whether it's better to take a pay loss. Or how can you ask your new employer if they can start the training earlier than scheduled day
7:47 Ben, what if you aren’t happy at your current job - like a lot of people seeking jobs? How would you navigate answering the question?… Obviously, it depends on why you aren’t happy…
I currently have an IT seasonal job / IT temporary job. The seasonal job can go from 15 hours per week to 40 hours per week. It is supposed to last maximum 7 months, but it is not guaranteed. How would I answer the question if it is a job interview for an IT full time job, 40 hours per week?
How do you deal with this where an organisation re-structure made your role redundant and they provided you with notice. I really stumbled through this one at my first interview I had had in 5 years! Bu t I spoke to the capabilities of my specialty not being needed within the technology organisation anymore (and that 21 others were made redundant also) - reality is that the new CIO wanted her own leadership team to come in :(
This is a complicated subject. I’ve actually added it to my list of videos to make. I would say any letters of reference will help and if you have trouble getting interviews, perhaps a cover letter. You can indicate on your resume you left because of a restructure if it’s a barrier as well. Full video coming!
@@BenTalksTalent Thanks Ben - definitely getting interviews (I was in the role for 5 years) been applying and interviewing for 4 weeks now - it was the first interview I had had in all that time I just wasn't looking elsewhere even though the culture was terrible and I should have looked elsewhere in that time (I was actively working to improve it with a group from across the division). After I departed a large number of others left too without roles to go to because it was so bad! You covered this topic well in your other videos - they really helped me out! The positive: I just landed my next contract role (as there aren't too many permanent roles out there here in Queensland Australia for what I do)! I guess sometimes I can be too honest too, but that's not a bad thing right!! rotfl I know, I know - it sure can be! Thanks for the tip! Will be far easier to explain away now that I am contracting - there is to be expected gaps between contracts. The industry knows what happened here in this small town - they've seen the new CIO do this before. Being a small town people have long memories!
so much verbal jostling and stretching the truth ffs. I got approached by a recruiter for a role for 30% pay jump. I had been in my current role for 3 months but would leave for a 30% pay jump. The recruiter asked why are you looking to leave your current role, I mentioned something like this new opportunity seems great and offers a substantial comp boost. Didn't hear back after a few days for any invitation to an interview. I should have said something about new growth opportunities / i really respect your organization and appreciate the job description etc.
I know, the verbal jostling can be annoying and frustrating. But it is part of why I made this channel. The situation is what it is. But hopefully this can help you navigate it more smoothly.

Keeping it positive, thinking about what they want to hear in a potential hire, - all great info!
I agree! Where you are going, not what you are leaving!
10:42 Wow! I don’t know if I would have the craftiness to be able to construct answers like your last 2 which you gave!

That’s amazing! Congrats Mike! I am so happy for you! A huge congrats for a major accomplishment!
12:36 Yeah… That would prompt me (if I were a hiring manager) to want to follow-up with, “Ok… Why is it time for a change?”

Hi Kayy! If you give me 3-5 questions I will absolutely do a video on how to answer them.

You can tell them you have a temp job but you are looking for a full time role. Nothing wrong with that.
Ben, my company, when interviewing internal candidates, the first question is, "What is frustrating you the most, about your current position?"
It’s a good question tbh
