I hope you add fun mods and make videos . Like different hubcaps, tint front windows, floor mats. Go camping video 😅. Good job on your video I felt glued as it was brilliant
Bought the same car last week. Same color. Already replaced the hub caps and tinted the front windows. Maybe just slightly past mid-life crisis but loving it.
Happy to hear your mom is ok🙏🏾. Beautiful review btw, I got mine at the end of January and I love driving it. Something to look out for is paint chips for some reason it's happening to the rear passenger and driver side doors 🤦🏾♂️. I end up buying some mud guards to see if that would help a little 🤦🏾♂️
You can push the button on the right side of the steering wheel and say "open the glove box". You can use that button for almost everything without using the touchscreen.
Driving dynamics and FSD actually really brought it home for me. Also make sure to put the 750kg Model 3 wheels with beefier tires on the MYP, it's quieter than my 2016 S-class, yet it can go on a beach. (and yes 245/60/18's fit, gives half an inch lift as well)
Make sure to watch Sandy Munro's issues with the wall outlets with NEMA 14-50's. Make sure to get the actual Tesla wall charger. And yes... the electrical install in expensive if the circuit breaker is not in your garage.
I haven’t checked if all the Hertz cars are gone by now but if you can rent one for a week and really get familiar with it, that will help you decide. I rented one for eleven days and 3800 miles which included a six day trip half way across the country and back. Worked for me!
If you have a 240v outlet in the garage (for a dryer) as I do, the $250 Mobile Charger is all you need for Level 2 home charging. I guess I was lucky.🤷♂️
Great job. I have a Tesla, and I have to disagree on the fuel savings though. Costs me $3-5 to drive 400 km. It would cost me close to $60 for gas. Significant savings. Even when I supercharge, my fuel costs are about half. But I agree…car is fun for so many reasons!
A fun video. I bought a Model Y a couple of months ago. I live where it rains, and the automatic wipers don't work when you need them and do work when you don't. That's a huge annoyance. The side mirrors have a very narrow view. Way too narrow for me to feel safe changing lanes on a freeway. Luckily, the cool thing about Model Y's is the incredible number of accessories. The mirror issue is fixable with a $30 mirror replacement. So most issues, except the darn wipers, are fixable if you are open to buying an accessory. One last thing is that FSD requires more faith than I have. The Teslas maps where I regularly drive are inaccurate (especially speed limits), so using FSD for more than a couple of minutes is a challenge.
Great video. Also note that most of what you describe also applies to a Tesla 3, which I own. I agree that the Y is a better choice for more space in the car and for more battery capacity and hence more range. My next car will be a Tesla Y.
Instead of $0.08/mile I'm now spending less than $0.02/mile thats coming from a TDI GOLF. We also needed a 7 seater so we had to buy something bigger anyways.
Congrats on your Model Y purchase. I bought a Model 3 in December 2023. Enjoyed the video. Just wanted to let you know 2:47, looks like your hood isn't sitting flush. Not sure if it's the angle of the camera but you should get that fixed from Tesla
Great video, but the cost breakdown is not as fixed. Yes there’s possibility of spending that high, but also for me, i spent 650$ for the wall connector. So i think folks just need to shop around. Hey praying things go well for your mom. Great video again. Thanks.
Insurance is higher. For me it's probably a good $600 to $800 more per 6 months to insure my Y vs other cars I had considered. So I basically look at gas savings as covering the increased registration and insurance costs. Maintenance is generally less on an EV. We drove a leaf over 90k miles in our family and hardly did anything to it besides one set of new tires.
I tested all Tesla models, unfortunately the Model Y drives like a sofa on wheels. The smooth ride is the Model S. But I was surprised that the latest Model 3 had the best handling out of all Teslas. That was the only car which steers like the best of the world cars.
$1100 bucks for a plug and a pull box is crazy! the installer charged more for the conduit, that pull box should have been the plug all along, your tesla charger is long enough to reach back of the model y
Congratulations on making the leap. I put 40k miles on my TSLA annually, zero issues. It’s paid for itself 2 times over. Unlimited mile 8year battery/drive unit warranty. I’ve got a TDI that I love, but no comparison with an EV…..and 40k annually would be a very expensive commute fuel/service wise. Just crossed 130k miles and shooting for 300 before I give it away to a relative
Gas savings vs electric Nema plug install. You still have an electric plug spending your $1300. You have an added value to your home and continued use. Gas bought and burned is gone forever. At least the nema install is an investment. You just rent gas so to speak you bought your nema outlet.
The car will change your life, they are a pleasure to drive. Yes, Tesla’s can last up too 300,000 + miles. There’s a Tesla with 1 million miles. Prayers for your mom 🙏🏾
We've got a few things in common or close enough to "in common" that you seem to have made the same conclusions that I did. I bought my MYP just two weeks ago and it is replacing my 2013 Jetta Sportwagen with 150k miles on it. I put 100 miles a day minimum on my vehicles. I was instantly enamored by it and the $46k price tag? Nothing else in that price range even comes close.
I'm paying $190/month for a $300 deductible with USAA, which is $2280. I could have gotten it down to about $100 with a $1K deductible. Also Las Vegas vs Nasvhille was twice as expensive.
If you have solar this question may not apply to you. I purchased a tesla. And the one thing no one talks about it’s there power bill without solar. I’d say my average electric bill went up at minimum 200 a month killing my gas savings. I still love my Tesla. I just feel people don’t seem to talk about that part. Overall how has your power bill been affect if you don’t have solar???
Was the LFP battery an option for you? To determine if your Tesla has an LFP battery, navigate to Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information on your Tesla's touchscreen. If you see “High Voltage Battery type: Lithium Iron Phosphate” listed, your Tesla has a LFP battery.
Do you know about voice commands❓ Like ....Open glove box...on the map tap to enter an address and then hit the right scrool wheel and Say Take me to.... An address or place.... Température at 68 degrees....etc....
450 miles in a Golf for $40 WTF! Do not get rid of it. Our gas prices in California are $4.95 gallon. That Golf must be getting more than 50 mpg. I'd keep it.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I just came back and saw that this is indeed true. Edit: Seems the boss man has said on X (twitter) in response to points expiring: "No, just that new credits would not be earned until we launch a future referral program, which is a few months away"
Yeah that’s a question. I bought one just like his also in late Feb. this after renting a 2022 for 3500 miles, then testing a 2024 (Fremont build) which was MUCH better, I decided to buy. Weird thing is, the one they gave me (came from Austin) seems to feel like the 22(!). I can’t explain it but it is what it is and was good value in today’s market.
Test drive one, and compare it to the new updated Model 3, for sure if suspension/ride is a concern. Huge difference w/ the new updated Model 3 suspension, vs both older Model 3 and current Y. Hopefully the update next year for Model Y should bring same improved comfort ride... it does help it drive/feel more sporty, but... bit rough/noisy. Still my old firm model 3 is a joy to drive esp on roadtrips, comparable to Camry SE or sports cars, but more comfy would be nicer
@@bob-qi4nr I know, I own the performance. 4.8 is still quicker than 90% of the cars you see on the road daily. Haha 3.5 is slow? Let's go drag race then.

You can use voice command for most things, like open grove box, open mirrors, turn up heat, turn down heat….
