    I watched the lovely Bob talking about flax seed some time ago….Ive been taking two tablespoons at breakfast mixed with porridge since then and it worked! My bp before was 145/88 to 90 and now it’s 114/78. Sometimes varies a little but these are the average figures. I’m mid sixties and not on any other medication. If anyone’s sceptical I would just say..try it!! Thanks guys you ARE the best! Sue from a snowy UK 😁❤️

    I love these flashback episodes. It's great to see Bob in his prime, the old advice is still good while being supplemented with recent updates, and the silliness of the time travel always makes me laugh. Mike is a great addition to the on-air team.

    In the last few months, when the Dr / Nurse takes my blood pressure, they use the electronic machine. It hurts so bad I think my arm is going to break.It freaks me out. I'm convinced that's why my BP is high.

    • @valeriekaye3354
      @valeriekaye3354 3 дня назад +6

      It is why your BP is high. It happens to all of us. Insist that your blood pressure be taken the old fashioned way. That way is also more accurate. Every nurse knows this. I have refused the electronic torture method, especially prior to surgery like endoscopy and colonoscopy, or any minor or major surgery .

      We have one of those at home. My bottom number is way too high so I have to monitor it. My BP is always 20/10 pts higher at home than it is at the doctor's office with the manual one (which is still "high") but not nearly as bad, because I don't feel like the machine is going to injure me! 😅

    I love flax seeds. But I buy them whole and grind them myself. However because I have chronic hereditary low blood pressure, I have to watch for that and remember to salt my food. Cottage cheese helps because it is salty.

    If you diastolic(lower number) is high you are stroke risk. If systolic (top number) is high then heart attack risk. Diastolic is constant pressure and Systolic is when the heart beats and pressure is highest.

    Once you get older, it's likely to get higher, they don't even know why. These remedies only help a bit if it's a bit high. Beets are supposed to be the best, but we're talking about lowering it by 4-5 points, which isn't enough. There comes a time when you have to take medication for it.

    I always wondered about high blood pressure or hypertension...is it the most important sign for an cardiac event? I mean if you have optimal bp ~112/72...doesnt it mean 100% you wont have an event, regardless of elevated LDL/apoB, elevated triglycerides, elevated a1c etc...I mean BP is easy to check while the others are lab results where you get only once or twice a year?

    What about low blood pressure? My brother and I can actually lower our blood pressure while it's being measured. In my case I simply force my self to relax, even though we typically have a high stress lifestyle; sadly my brother has passed so I don't know how he did it. How can we increase our blood pressure to a "normal" level?

    Ive found if i take it daily my pressure goes up. So if i have a reading of below 120.....I take a week off. Above 120 I do it daily once.For some stupid reason I forgot to take my pressure pill for 3 days. Boy did my pressure go up to 160 and it took a week to get back to normal. I dont like taking any pills and i dont believe i needed this on. At the doctor my BP was 140 and Ive since found out this is called White coat syndrome. They gave me a pill and i should have not taken it because your body gets addicted to them for life.
