Fellow Michigander here! This has been fun to watch thanks for posting these. I've got an 06 Colorado with a I5 and 200k miles and I'm thinking it's on it's last leg. The truck is in great shape just the engine might be going out. I've been debating on rebuilding the i5, buying a new colorado, or doing something like this.

I highly recommend this swap, the difference in the drivability of this truck from the I5 is unbelievable, if chevy had the v8 in this truck all along it probably would have outsold the bigger trucks.

So far so good, I did a barebones junk yard swap into my dads 06 Colorado. It was fairly simple, but i didn’t worry with installing ac. What are you doing for wiring?

we are skipping the AC install on this as well, for the wiring we have the wire harness and computer from the donor truck so Grant has been working on cutting out all of the extra wiring and re-looming it along with adding a new fuse/relay box for everything. We swapped the oil pan last night and slid the engine in, it clears the diff now but we definitely have work to do fabricating engine mounts that will work. Thanks for watching/ commenting
