it was awesome to meet matt and be a part of tuning this truck, and also further helping develop the ar5 swap platform as it is the most economical manual swap ive seen that can handle some serious power!
Cool to see another trans option that is made affordable. T56s are getting ridiculous. Thanks for making the adapter and supporting the hot rod community, fabbot 👍

Matt, originally reached out to these guys after your original mail time. Was a little dubious but seeing the numbers has put my mind at ease. Would be really interested to hear how it drives, and what gears were used. My challenge is the only gearbox’s I can find are all around $700 plus shipping to the UK,! Still a lot more cost effective than a T56! Please continue. P
You guys need to make packages like this and other power levels and the community will support you. Seriously, your tune, cam, turbo, motor and trans combo. From you. I'd get it and sure many others too, especially if you take the guessing out of it, and a shade tree mechanic can do in a weekend.

the 4cyl and 3.7 i5 came with this trans originally but have different ratios than the solstice/sky version of the ar5

Car I did for a buddy broke 2 so far over the last 2 years. 3300lb car 670whp and a monster twin disk. Stripped 3rd gear on a 2-3 shift both times. Using a clutch delay valve now to see if it lives longer. Still worth it for the money
Which vehicle did he get them from? 3rd gear has a different ratio depending on what vehicle it was in before
@@aidancloke4398 all Colorado ma5's with a 1.37 3rd gear. Maybe the other models that have a shorter 3rd gear ratio wouldn't have to slow the motor down as much and hold up better
Scott Giebler if Wikipedia is to be trusted the solstice and sky had a 1:51 3rd gear so potentially could help it survive longer
The ar5 that comes in the 4 cyl Colorado is a variant of the jeep ax15. Basically the same but with a gm spline input shaft. The novak adapter for jeep to ls motor will work but the length is 3/8 different if I remember correctly. Need a spacer.

Damn I just had a guy tune my car for $300 and If I ever want to go back with anything to make dyno pulls for numbers or tune myself $125 for a hour and 3 pulls. It's a dyno jet he used to test turbo kits. Pretty cool I just found him on market place buying parts and didnt even know there was a dyno within 2 hours of me and hes some what local.
I know other guys in Columbus that charge around $600. $750 is steep but different areas different prices and hes famous for making reliable power.

Hi Matt, great video! May I ask a little more about his motor combo? The dyno sheet said 5.3 at the top, or was that just the original 5.3 engine truck ecm pulled out of a 5.3 truck? Couldn't find his build thread for more info. What heads and cam? Wow 900 whp on a 5.3 on e85 is Awesome! You have convinced me to go 5.3 with turbo and 85 on my street/strip 72 Nova! Bob

Been looking at this option but the trans is hit or miss.
Has it been put down the track at all? I'm really curious about the 60 foot times and overall et it can hold up to. Dyno numbers only tell you so much when it comes to what a transmission will hold

Thank you so much FabBot!!! ruclips.net/video/S02-X1bQMMo/видео.html Just put in the 3.42 gears to replace the 2.93 and it's a perfect match. 4th gear 2k rpm @45mph, right where I wanted it and Matt's tune is kickin'. Just took it out yesterday and ripped it 1st and 2nd. Got very loose so I didn't try 3rd. 6.0 w/Sloppy Stage 2. No boost...yet...so I'm glad to see these results knowing this AR5 can take a beating.
Never personally seen an ar5 break but the sycros seem to not hold up well in road course/autocross environment, and they’re very touchy on oil

gen 3 5.3 btrst1 cam IIRC single 80. vband turbo from vs racing, e40 ecu, drive by wire harness from current performance, act clutch, 210 bosch injectors, twin 450s in tank

It basically is.if you had an r154 you can swap most everything onto an ar5.alot of the 1j2jz guys do it cuz r154 is 2k.
