  • We get the engine prepped and installed in the truck with our new wiring harness. We have a pretty big fire on initial startup due to the return fuel line leaking.

I've seen several videos stating the factory ls colorado has a different frame which would explain why stock engine mounts and exhaust manifolds won't work when swapping from i4 and i5 to ls platforms. Whether or not this is true I'm not sure but it has been stated several times in other videos I have been watching in preparation of doing my own swap. I personally ill probably just go the easy swap route with the current performance ecm, harness and mounts, at least that's where my thoughts are at this time

2009+ have a wider frame. I was told the engine mounts would not work. I bought the current performance ones for my 2008

@@ronclaman156 I agree, but honestly the amount of extra effort setting the engine, mocking things up and pull ing to to build the mounts vs just buying the pre-made aftermarket didnt seem worth the effort, we build mounts when doing swaps that arent as well supported in the aftermarket but for this they are readily available.

hey i know it's been done but why didn't you get the motor mounts for the colorado that has the 5.3 from factory?

we didn't consider it at first, once we had it int he truck with the aftermarket mounts, that idea came up when ordering the lower radiator hose for a colorado with the v8 factory, I think it would be a good option for the mounts

I got the engine I'm and now I am having issues getting the crossmember to line up to the transmission. Did you have issues too?

No, did not have any issues with the transmission lining up to the cross member after the swap

@Gage Boys' Garage ok thanks 😊 I'm thinking a ratche strap will bring it down into position.

@Gage Boys' Garage I got it down where it's supposed to be . But it still needs to come over to the passengers side . It also looks like it needs to go forward about a half inch to an inch. I'm hoping if I loosen up the motor mounts and try to adjust it. That it will work. The oil pan is very close to the front diff. Did you swap out oil pan or did it work with the factory one. My engine is outta an 03 silverado.

Def had to swap the oil pan out, we used a hot rod oil pan off eBay
