Does anyone else have a burping issue and waking up feeling suffocated and then burping? Like I get shortness of breath or air hunger and then I burp and sometimes it’s really intense and I start preparing to go to ER because it feel likes I might genuinely be in trouble
This is ONLY MY perspective: I was diagnosed 14 years ago with hiatal hernia. My symptoms started with heartburns waking me because the acid came into my lungs. They found an ulcer and the hiatal hernia. All they told me, take PPIs, lifestyle changes, surgery not worth it. Ok. I didn’t questioned it too much.. Now, i didn’t take the PPIs constantly.. and i had phases where i was bearing the heartburns. But I’m developing more and more symptoms, Nausea, heart palpitations, Globus sensation, sharp pain in my stomach, And my newest symptom is that it feels like food is getting stuck right where the stomach is, and getting the urge to stretch my stomach. Since 2 years I am eating very healthy and didn’t experience much change with my symptoms. I have an GI appointment for Thursday. I’m really anxious about the outcome, because ignoring the symptoms for years, brushing them off as I think it’s due to my haital hernia. All I want to say is, go see a doctor if you are concerned, don’t play around. And consider surgery.. living with haital hernia wasn’t fun for me. It’s basically living with serious symptoms with the uncertainty of how serious they are.
3:20 yes!! This is exactly what I go through. It’s very much sudden and it goes really fast for a bit then slows down. It’s happened a lot while laying down. I wake up in the morning or middle of the night and it does weird things and it’s so scary.
The worst part of a HH is that it has caused me Barrett's esophagus and now I can't eat all the simple foods I loved. I can't even eat pizza or a hot dog. Nothing with any preservatives at all. It really sucks.
I have had trouble swollowing food and getting it stuck. This has got worse over 8 years and I have been told I have a stricture. even the camera could not pass through. I am due to have baloon inflation in the next month. I assume the stricture is due to acid reflux over lots of years, I guess its a mechanical thing that has to be sorted. The doctors only mension the small HH in passing. so is this acid or is it Pepsin that is the silent reflux and has this only come about because of the HH.
I have a medical background and I can say from experience that solutions are not exactly that same for everyone. It really depends on cause and personal history, diet, stress level, etc.

I have trouble swallowing too + chest pain and all that good stuff. So did you find any help? And how are you feeling now?
No solutions just talk 🗣️

My Dr Osteopathy was trained to do abdominal manipulation. That gives me about six weeks of relief.
Sounds like me nobody understands it.😢
