    Rear wheel drive tow's the most.

    Found a certified 22 4x4 S king cab with sprayed bed and tech package 4 months ago. It was their loaner had 8700 miles on it. Out the door 27600.

      This is a great deal. I bought a 22 SV 4x4 crew cab with tech, convenience, and premium packages last week for 9k more out of the door. Like the truck, so it is OK with me.

    The point of a rear wheel drive truck is a person that needs to haul things, lives in a warm climate, never plans on going off-road and wants to save money on initial cost and future maintenance.

    Dec 2022 I was looking for a Gladiator but I saw a fully loaded 23 Pro4X with only 3k miles including dealer lifetime warranty and ext/ int protection package etc & 1k spent on tints for 40k..I just had to jump on it.

    Why is this reliability rating so low when it's probably one of the most reliable drivetrains for a small truck? Is this manipulation on the data

    • @yourmanzach2307
      @yourmanzach2307 8 месяцев назад +6

      because TOYOTA wants to keep selling their cars. bet they pay for 10/10 ratings. truth is they aren't what they used to be and they are wicked expensive now.

    Pickup trucks are rear wheel drive because they are used heavily for towing. Towing heavy loads would be very hard on a front wheel drive train especially on the cv shafts. Also the trailer can squat the rear of the truck giving you the best traction in the rear when towing. Basically trucks are made to do work and front wheel drive while good for pulling a small vehicle are not so good for towing.

      This is until you get stuck on an algae covered boat ramp on a steep incline. The 4x4 could pull you out of a slippery situation.

      Couldnt you tow in 2wd in that case? I dont know much about transmissions but wouldnt that be the same as towing in a rear wheel drive truck?

    • @marvinbrickhouse9122
      @marvinbrickhouse9122 4 месяца назад +1

      He said he didn’t know why truck were still rear wheel drive I was just pointing out the reason why truck are not built front wheel drive like passenger cars I prefer four wheel drive but you need a minimum rear wheel drive to be effective for towing large loads thus trucks are still built with rear wheel drive configuration for hauling and four wheel drive for situations where you need additional traction

    A new Frontier is definitely on my radar along with a Honda Ridgeline and/or Toyota Tacoma. Ridgeline is probably my favorite but hardly any in stock at any local dealers.

    • @henrynlouisville1
      @henrynlouisville1 10 месяцев назад +2

      Just test drove all three. Loved the Ridgeline BUT my left elbow couldn't reach the door handle or upper door ridge, which means that I could only rest my right elbow on the new center console on long trips. The Tacoma had a really weird cabin resonance that completely messed with my head. The made in Mexico Taco was worst by far. Frontier was the easy winner. Plenty of inventory to choose from, three places for my elbow, and a quite interior.

    • @-taz-
      @-taz- 10 месяцев назад

      Is that resonance related to opening certain windows certain amounts? Just wondering because I am borrowing a RAM with that problem, and wonder if it's that particular pickup, or all of them.

    • @henrynlouisville1
      @henrynlouisville1 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@-taz- No, when you open only one window on certain vehicles it will create wind buffeting = you crack the rear window right behind the open window to stop that. When I was test driving the Taco I had the windows closed. I did open the window to see if the cabin resonance would go away but it did not. Even the salesperson in the passenger seat said, "Yea, I see what you mean". The droning sound was way to much for me.

    LOL, I leased a '23 Pro4X. the residual is $41k. I see them all day long with 10-40K miles for $30-35k. They are not holding value. Good for me! I'll buy a cheaper better optioned truck..

  • @sharkskin3448

    Going by KBB trade value, a 2yo Frontier SV (cant go by 3 yr, since redesign is only since '22) is significantly worse than its 3 yo competitors; Tacoma and Ridgeline. A $42k truck worth $24k in 24 months? With a residual pegged at $28k+ in 36 months? No thanks. Add an unincentivised rate, and you can understand why Nissan lots are full of Frontiers. Too bad. The truck itself is very appealing.

    Some people just don't need a 4x4. Why pay the extra for it if you're not going to ever use it? I love RWD.

      So isn’t it better to have it then To not need it, then to need it and not have it? Plus resale value is better.

    Modify the truck for crash tests! More 6ft. beds, otherwise not worth it. Nissan get the led out! This is a great truck and with little more variety, they'd sell like hot cakes...
