Thank you!!!!! This was exactly my issue. I didn’t even realize my mirrors and pedals weren’t working, but found this video, checked those, and sure enough…..they were out too. 20 minutes and $0 later, all were back to working order and out back together! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
Andrew, my wife also uses our F-150 and is quite a bit smaller than me. It was just after she moved the seat all the way forward that it quit. So, essentially, until it was fixed, I couldn't drive the truck. Resolved to fix it myself, I turned to RUclips. After typing in "F-150 power seat not working" your video miraculously popped up. I knew the seats and brake pedal adjustments weren't working-but it was only after watching your video that I went out and found my mirrors were dead, too. That's when I knew you had found the problem. Like everyone else below, can't thank you enough for walking us through this fix. I would have started with the fuse. But once finding that wasn't the problem, I don't know if I ever would have found those corroded wires. You saved me countless hours of frustration and in the end probably thousands of dollars from the dealership replacing all my motors first only to then find the wires and fix those last. You also saved me from a ton of husband-wife arguments since (like a typical guy) during the whole time trying to fix the problem I would have been blaming my wife for breaking it in the first place 🙂
Glad to hear this fix solved your issue and the truck is now fully functional. That corroded wire has caused a lot of issues, unnecessary expense and frustration. Thank you for the comment.
Wow. Just WOW! Such a clearly made, super-simply explained, short and to the EXACT point video! We (limited income senior citizens) thank you loads and loads!! You helped us fix it. Quickly and NO money!

as so many others have said - this was my issue too. First tried replacing the fuse and found the old fuse was just fine. Then I found your video and dove into the electrical harness - I actually had water on the inside of the electrical tape and that wire junction hack that ford did was completely broken. Thank you!
This video just saved me $400! That's what the local Ford dealership quoted to "diagnose and repair" my truck. The wire splice in my truck had actually corroded to the point it had separated. I found the broken splice, did the repair, and had it all back together in less than an hour. Thank you SO much for this video! You rock!
Isn’t it satisfying when you’re able to do repairs like this yourself - and of course save some $$$’s at the same time. Thank you for the kind words and enjoy a working seat - lol.
@@YourHomeGarage You have NO idea how much I'm enjoying my working seat! My 23 yr old daughter is about the size of Frodo Baggins and the seat & pedals died after she drove my truck! Same here. Mine was broken as well so it was easy to see which wire needed repair. The internet is an amazing thing. Endless amounts of information on countless topics at our fingertips.
I wish I could upvote you a million times, there is no telling how much money you might have saved me. Already checked all fuses. I was about to let Ford figure it out.
Thanks you for this video, I took my truck to get a hole fixed in the drivers seat and the upholstery guy couldn't get the seat out because the seat would not move. I checked fuses etc all seemed fine then I found your video and Ta-Da easy fix. Got my power mirrors and pedals to work as well. Although my connection was further up in the bundle of wires closer to the fuse box. Also I had to splice in a piece of wire to make them long enough to work. Thumbs up on this video for sure .
Hello Sir,I'm from Mexico and I had exactly the same problem with my truck, I took it to the mechanic and said that it was the power motor of the seat and wanted to charge 300 dollars, I follow your video and fix it! 30 minutes, Worked like a charm!!! Tks a million for your help! God bless you!
It was like you went in to my truck power panel and cut those wires yourself. There was water back there to cause the very corrosion you mentioned. I used a heat shrink over the same type of connector you used. Then taped it all back up. Thank you so much for making this video.
Really saving money on copper on new cars these days, back in the 80s and 90s wires were never thinner than 14ga, main harnesses were 12ga. Use to drive around St Louis to car dealers putting in auto alarms till I opened my own shop
Wow ..thanks so much would have never have found the problem if it wasn't for this video !!! i pulled the fuse before I saw this and of course it was fine . Started following your instructions and sure enough started pealing the tape away and nothing but green corrosion . The funny thing is I just had it in the shop on an unrelated eletrical problem a chipmunk had caused under the hood so I thought my mechanic had caused this inadvertantly . I am amazed to find a video on you tube that fixed this problem let alone how in the heck you found the splice and figured this out !! Thank you , Thank you , Thank you !!!! Super duper helpful. Also, if you’re reading this - have any idea what it means if all controls on the power seat work except for the recline? It does make a click in each direction for recline just no worky
Hi, i have 2000 f150, the seats wont do anything neither power mirrors, fuses and relays are goods, could it be those wires?..since mkne is a year 2000, is the same color and in the same spot (passenger side)?
Hi! I've have an 06 lincoln navigator with the same problem. I've been reading about the orange/green wire issue and found your video. It's great! The problem is I've found the orange/green wire but there is no splice in it. The only splice I can find is a beige/white wire. Is it possible that could be it instead? (I may re-splice it anyway since it shouldn't be too hard and see what happens.) Thanks again for a great video!
Hello Sir! I have the same symptoms on 2010 Navigator. I tried to perform this procedure, but there was no orange wire with green stripe. Do you have any Idea which wire to look for? Anyway, I didn't waste my time doing this, I figured out my keypad code from the bask side of the fuse box and replaced blown fuse responsible for buttons backlight.
09-14 Ford owners have the same problem. On 08 and earlier models the orange with green stripe wire corrodes at the splice just below the fuse box, but things are different for 09 and newer. New models changed to a green wire with red stripe and the splice location is no longer in the passenger footwell area. Look for the two green/red wires in the harness connector under the drivers seat. Then trace that wire back from the fuse box, under the sill plate towards the back of the passenger seat. You will likely find green corrosion. Apparently there can be a weak point in the insulation due to water penetration under the sill plate. Patch up the damaged wire, check the connector, plug it back in and everything should hopefully be back. I suspect the reason it’s so hard to find info on this problem for 09 and up, is that Ford actually fixed the problem by moving the splice to a less vulnerable location. This could be an isolated fix but worth the check.
What I’ve heard about the Raptor’s; is the harness under the drivers seat tends to pivot (twist) just enough to sometimes disconnect. This disengages the power seats, mirrors and pedal. Try turning the connector 1/4 to 1/2 a turn while pushing the connectors together to ensure it’s snug. This is assuming all the fuses are still good. This might sound odd, buts it’s common for power seats to cause issues with wiring harnesses. On my Corvette, the power seats loosen my harness just enough that my airbag service light goes off. This happens at least once a year. I just have to push the connectors back together when I get the alert.
I have a problem with my power seat for the driver side. It moves forward and all put won't move back do you think this is can be resolved doing what you did in the vid?
The fix in this video likely won’t help you - because you already have power. I would focus to see if the adjuster motor is failing, seat track is binding, or the switch is failing.
I can’t say for certain, however the F150 and Expedition share the same mechanical from the firewall forward. Therefore the wiring will basically be the same.
The crimp electrical connector that I used filled in the splice gap, so I didn't need to add wire for the repair. However, I can't recall the exact gauge, but it was thin - so 12 to 14 gauge if I remember correctly.
You, sir, are genius, corroded wires, exactly where you said they were main cause in my truck was water leaking from the sunroof down into that rail where the wires sit. Thank you Ford for being such boneheads in this design
Hmmm - I haven't heard of that before. It's not likely a blown fuse or main wiring issue as power is getting to the seat. Have you tried looking at the cables under the seat to see if they are caught on anything or the mechanism isn't off track. I would also try to give the plugs under the seat a good push to reconnect anything that could be loose. Pushing the plugs might sound like an odd task, but on my Corvette the air bag sensor is under the seat and the back and forth movement of the power seat sometimes causes the connection to wiggle loose. So, it might be worth a shot too diagnose that possibility.

Definitely reconnect the broken wire. Something has to be failing due to that broken connection.

Correct - the knob is a manual lower lumbar adjustment.

Is the splice only there if you have power mirrors AND power seats? I only have power mirrors and there is no power at the switch.
I would check the fuse first followed by the wire harness.
Are wires same color on a 2012 F150? You're right. I've tried fuses...etc. This has to be the answer.
09-14 Ford owners have the same problem. On 08 and earlier models the orange with green stripe wire corrodes at the splice just below the fuse box, but things are different for 09 and newer.

OK I'll check but my pedals still work just mirror's and driver seat not work not sure if that makes a difference and yes been through all fuses
@@kelborogers790did you ever find a solution to the issue? Have a ‘13 with no power to the driver seat/mirrors.
