  • The recliner switch on my 2010 F150 passenger seat stopped working. It would incline, but not decline. The replacement part was quoted at $97. I fixed it with a $5 can of electric parts cleaner and 10 minutes of time. Here's how...
Found the switch module on Amazon for just $29.30 here: amzn.to/2twhxUO
$5.00 QD Electronic Cleaner here: amzn.to/2tXNzvV

Now 4-1/2 years later and this video is still useful. My 2010 F-150 Lariat looks _exactly_ like your truck with black leather and the same rubber floor mats -- and even the same button, same side was non-operational. The only difference was my seat was stuck all the way reclined and yours was all the way up.
I sprayed all the buttons and worked them back and forth, let the unit dry for a half hour or so, plugged it in and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much for posting this and saving me a hundred bucks.

My Mitsubishi Outlander had the same problem...not inclining forward... followed all your steps and now Im back in driving position. That was hard with the seat stuck all the way back. Thank you Trent's DIY. You are the man!!! Sprayed it with battery cleaner...worked the switches...blew compressed air to evaporate and blow away the cleaner. Control returned! Bingo!!!

The passenger seat in my F250 has been tilted all the way forward for 3 weeks! My 5-foot-7, thirteen year-old son has to ride over there folded up like a pretzel to and from school every day because the backseat is full of his little brothers in booster seats. I'm sure we look ridiculous pulling into the elementary school drop-off zone.
Both of the repair shops that I took my truck to said it would cost about $400 to replace the board because they couldn't fix or replace just the switch.
Yesterday my friend suggested I search online for a how-to video. I had no hope in that plan but I found your video and thought it was worth a try.
This morning I spent $8.00 on some QD spray and tonight I FIXED MY TRUCK SEAT! All by myself! And for only eight bucks! :D
Thank you, thank you! (My husband especially thanks you!) ;) XO

Thanks so much Trent! Our 2010 Ford Expedition's front passenger seat was stuck in the fully recline position. I found your video this morning, ran to AZ to pick up a can of QD electrical cleaner ($10.99+tax) and ran home to complete the job. The seat panel is a little different on the Expedition, including requiring the removal of a T-20 torx head screw, but the rest was identical to your F-150. 10 minutes later, I had everything buttoned up and the switch worked like new! Seat operates perfectly! Thanks again for a great video

You beautiful bastard! I can confirm this worked on my 2013 Ford Edge. Had been having the issue for about a year, where it would go back, but often not forward, until recently when it stopped going forward altogether. I knew it couldn't be a fuse because it made no sense for a switch to work at all with a bad fuse. Ran to Walmart and grabbed some CRC QD electronics cleaner (in the auto section by the intake cleaners and other auto sprays) for $5, opened up and sprayed the switch, toggled the switch a few times, let it dry for about 10 minutes, and it worked. Thank you for posting this! Only wish I had seen is sooner.

I was already looking for the switch online, and although mine is either cheap or cloned a lot at $16 I decided to check RUclips first and came across your video. I just so happen to have that exact can of that electronic cleaner in the garage, rolling around for years probably, no idea what I last used it on. I noticed opposite corners of the switch had a little opening when you moved it and I sprayed the cleaner right in there, toggled it left/right for a while, and it worked great! I had some corrosion on a button that I hadn't even noticed giving me issues and sprayed them all just to be sure it won't give me issues. Thanks for the video!

Electric spray cleaner worked!!!! So my 2014 F150 FX4 passenger seat was not tilting back, even though it did all the other functions. First I disconnected the power underneath the seat because I didn't want to accidentally push the tilt button forward in case this trick didn't work. You really have to push the black plastic tab up hard, right behind the grey swing arm, in order to drop the grey swing arm to removed the power. Once disconnected, I popped off the 2 necessary seat adjustment control buttons and followed your directions from there. Thank you !!!

@@tristanfallis6699 It 100% worked and still works right now. Just like in the video. You just have to spend the time carefully taking it all apart. Better than spending $165 per hour at the dealership and then having them tell you to replace the whole board switch.

Thank you for your video :) It's 2:14 with nothing to do (LOL) went to Walmart and bought the CRC QD Electronic Cleaner ($4) and fixed the seat control...I just wished you put a video taking apart the control buttons (They pop out with a bit of pressure) Thanks again

Glad the solution worked for you. :) Thanks for the feedback. I'm really trying to up my video-quality game and make DIY videos full-time, so any and all advice is appreciated. In a couple years, when my channel has millions of subs and my goal of "fixing the world" one broken thing at a time, you can look back and say, "I was one of his first comments" ;)
