I went and visited Jim in 1995 . A long time ago . I was 21 years old . There was no fence back then and there was a policeman keeping guard at his grave . The maps all had his name scratched off all over the cemetery but it wasn't hard to find . Beautiful cemetery and I hope to go back one day .
I went around that time too.. I think it was 1993. We had to queue up to see the J.M. grave and there were a couple of security guards (they could have been police...). To be honest, I was just surprised to see all the fuss around a grave, so I'm not sure. I remember tea lights and graffiti, and then we were moved on. Definitely need a full day to see it all. It was a great part of my trip to Paris though.
There was no line just walked right up to the grave . Hung out took pictures . There was probably about 10 others visiting at the time . @@Hannahxx1971
It is a bittersweet feeling to know that Jim Morrison's funeral service lasted only 8 minutes and that no one stayed around to witness his full burial. However, the fact that his grave has become one of the most visited brings me comfort that his fans haven't left him.
I've lived right across the cemetery for a few years (born & bred parisian). Always a special place for a walk no matter the weather. Also a cat paradise!
OMG I''VE ALWAYS WANTED TO VISIT JIM MORRISONS GRAVE! dont understand why people would direspect anyones tombstone by scratching words into it. Thank you for taking us there.
Even after 52 years Jim Morrison is still a polarizing figure in death. I am a huge doors fan and visiting his grave is on my bucket list. Awesome video
visited pere lachaise in 2006, and it was a beautiful, if haunting place. i was really impressed with how much edith piaff clearly means to the people of france, as the tomb was immaculately well preserved, with flowers and trinkets adorning it with love.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see how many people are still coming to see Jim's finale resting spot. He made a huge ripple in the waters of life that continues to touch generation after generation. It's to bad his time on earth was so finite. Thank you for the experience as always Grimm Life!
Yea they have always been my favorite band of all time, its like them and the Beatles and its impossible for me to choose. The Doors were so mysterious and Jim knew EXACTLY what he was doing and he had it all planned and did it his way. Hes almost like a Greek god at this point to me, it was everything that rock n roll is supposed to be
What a beautiful cemetery, looks gothic (my favorite). I love all of the crypts and that street that is the most photographed. So many gorgeous graves and crypts, I may watch this again and again! Thank you!
So I did a bit of research on some of the tombs you visited Etienne Robertson @4:25 1767-1836 Belgian Physicist Paul Baudry @7:18 1828-1886 French Painter Victor Noir @14:34 1848-1870 French Journalist Im so glad that Jess didn't kiss him. Ya never know what the ladies have done to his face 😅 Victor Ségoffin @18:15 1867-1925 French Sculptor Georges Rodenbach @20:30 1855-1898 Belgian poet and novelist Antione d'Andre @23:15 1739-1825 French loyalist politician Mano Solo @23:38 1963-2010 French singer Eugène Scribe @23:45 1791-1861 French dramatist and librettist Louis-Sébastien Gourlot 1778-1816 @24:00 Very little is known him, but his grave depicts his wife mourning his loss
I went from Australia to visit Jim in 1991 when I was 23. It was -10° but we ventured out on a mission! There were no other people there and no fence back then. My friend, Caroline, and I sat there and drank whiskey and listened to Doors on tape, pouring some into his grave. The cemetery is absolutely massive - you could spend a day there - and full of famous people. Napoleon had the cemetery built and actually had a lot of the famous people moved there from other cemeteries as he wanted the best cemetery in Europe. The artwork of the graves and the architecture of the mausoleums is mind blowing!
Bit of a latecomer to the Grimmlifecollective but have been impressed by the fact that they don't rest on their laurels and visit locations that their contemporaries frankly do not visit. Too many just go over the same old film locations and the same theme parks in the States....and we all know who they are right! But with the Grimms its the dog suicide bridge near Glasgow one week then its the locations to Nosferatu or Suspiria in Germany the following weeks. They are absolutely ahead of the pack in originality and are two likeable ,articulate people who are passionate and respectful about movies , real life crime and music. Really impressed by the research that must go into the videos and in the style it's being presented. Always good to catch up after a rubbish day at work so thanks for your superb body of work!!
I've never seen a video about this cemetery, well-documented as it is, filmed as beautifully and respectfully as this one. Thank you! I enjoyed every second of it.
Love this cemetery. Iconic. So many respected and talented people buried there. Morrison, Oscar and Maria Callas, the Opera singer was and then her ashes scattered at sea. Chopin too but his heart was removed and buried where he was born, I believe. Fantastic video!!!! Maybe I'm weird but I love visiting cemeteries and learning of their histories. Happy Halloween to my favorite couple🕷🎃🖤🖤
Awesome video, Awesome place. I went December 5th 1996 as I went to Paris, solo as a warm up trip to see how I could handle flying, as I was going to the USA in 1997. Bear in mind this was before smartphones existed. So I only had a guide book and the noticeboards with the map on them to guide me. The first impression when walking through the main gate is how vast the place is. I just thought how am I finding Jim Morrison in here. The feeling in the force was telling me to go right. So I followed the path, the graffitti, spotted the guard, telegraph pole, the group of people that's it! So I didn't go over I just wandered around for most of the day. Went back to the same spot later, but came from a different direction. Guard must have been on a break. So I'm in the middle of the graves, couldn't find him. Then I just happened to look down. He was right in front of me. It wasn't barricaded off then. So I had a few minutes on my own there. So I left an incense cone and a poem on the stone, it got cleared hours later as that was the rule. A few others turned up, I left, very cool place to visit very peaceful.
We have finally arrived! Mr. Morrison has been patiently waiting for you two, hearing of the famous Grimm Life Collective from all the others, in the afterlife. You two have fulfilled Jim’s eternal checklist. He now can finally rest in peace!
Glad you two made it to Père Lachaise, it's a Mystical and beautiful cemetery full history. We loved it when we explored. BTW those chairs in the vaults are called kneelers to pray. Great video grims 👍❤️
(i'm french from Normandy) My mother and i went to Père Lachaise couples a days before you, we can see in the video the candle that we placed on Edith Piaf's grave. For me it's the most beautiful cemetery i have ever seen. I hope you enjoy your trip in France 😊 (hope my english is good ahah)
Robbie Ross died in 1918 aged 49 and in 1950, on the 50th anniversary of Oscar's death, an urn containing Robbie's ashes was placed inside the Wilde tomb; the two friends together for eternity.
I’m thrilled that you actually filmed my great great great grandfather’s tomb @ 23:44 Luigi Cherubini (the Goddess of Music is crowning him with a wreath on his head)! My relative was Napoleon’s court composer who wrote many operas and was best friends with Beethoven! Awesome video! 🤘😉
I visited Jim’s grave in 2006. Pere Lachaise is an amazing cemetery with so many famous historical figures and artists. Excited to watch this one! Happy Halloween 🎃 🖤 💚
It's wonderful that you visit Pere Lachaise, the most famous cemetery in Paris, with the graves of Jim Morrison and my compatriot Fryderyk Chopin! Greetings from Poland !
This is by far one of the coolest places I’ve ever been to in my life…absolutely amazing in every aspect. My wife & I spent about 5 hours roaming around & hadn’t seen a but a small fraction of what was there…we were so disappointed they closed early. If we had more time we would’ve come back & spent a few days there. So wonderfully peaceful & the tombs/statues were AMAZING 🤩. So glad you both had a chance to experience that. Hope you hit the Catacombs while you’re there too! You can tour where Nostradamus lived & wrote his quatrains, where Marie Curie lived, the Rodin museum is breathtaking with the Gates of Hell door (which was inspiration for Devil’s Advocate movie with Al Pacino), the Picasso museum, the Louvre, Versailles isn’t far & a quick train ride! I could go on for hours about how fantastic Paris is & the macabre stuff is sweet!
I'm really loving these videos from Europe. ❤ Georges Rodenbach was a brilliant Belgian writer, and worth a Google for anyone who isn't familiar with his work.
We visited the Catacombs of Paris but never stopped by the cemetery. Excellent video, I appreciate the attention and respect you give to these amazing works of art. Your videos never fail to amaze me. Thank you.
Wow....just wow! Between this cemetery and Highgate, very beautiful!! I felt the same when I visited St. Louis #1 (and #3) in New Orleans, just on a smaller scale.
What an incredible cemetery! The details on everything are beautiful and grand. I would honestly buy a book if it had pictures of all the statuary there.
❤❤Dearest Grimm. So,beautiful. Desolate sweet cemetery. Gorgeous tombs and statuary. Wonderful to see Jim and Edith. And sweet Oscar. I have lived many lifetimes in France. Enchanting. L❤ve you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This place is absolutely beautiful!! I know people think I’m crazy but I find most cemeteries to be so peaceful. I live close to Sleepy Hollow and visit there when I can (another beautiful cemetery). Thanks to you and Jessica for another great video. Happy Holidays!😊

Amazing how something Morbid, yet still hold something Beautiful. The Art and Architecture of these old cemeteries are Beautiful. I lived in New England, specifically Rhode Island for 13 years. Some of the Cemeteries have dates going back to the mid 1600's. The Art and Achitecture to me was Amazing, Beautiful and just appealing to me. Enough to make me want to explore the Cemeteries there. I would just be all over it if I was there in Old Engaland, France and surrounding territories.
❤ Dear Grimm. L❤ve the Chopin music. Wonderful to see his grave. L❤ve the fertility tomb. Beautiful shot of the raven and rose stone. Your European travels are so enchanting. L❤ ve you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I find cemeteries very comforting. I know that probably sounds very weird to many, but I feel you and Jessica understand me. Thanks Grimm for another well documented vid.
This is like the picturiqse cemetery from movies. Truly beautiful with how everything has aged and slightly overgrown now giving that drearyness. Thankyou for this
What a beautiful intro for this video! It is a wonderful resting place. All statues are amazing to watch. My respect to all people buried there ✝ As always you made an remarkable work Michael. Thank you both. Happy Halloween. Merry Christmas to you and Jessica 🎄
I have lived more than 10 years in Paris, and yet i had never been to Père Lachaise... And so a few weeks back i finally took my journey in this mazy cemetery, there was so much to look at 🤯
What a beautiful cemetery. It's like an art gallery. Thank you for sharing. I have always wanted to see the cemetery in Barre Vermont. Love your videos! ♥️💀♥️
I swear your tour through Europe brought out the most amazing places! The beauty in the architecture! Truly nothing quite like it here! Add this video to every one of your videos I will continuously watch over and over and over! Holy heckens just so much awe and beauty! Thank you as always besties! ❤
Oh, I thought you guys were gonna visit François-Vincent Raspail's grave, the statue of which has been made famous by the Dead Can Dance. But thank you so much for visiting Chopin, his heart belongs to us, literally. 🙂 Best wishes from Poland! 🇵🇱🇺🇸
I LOVE Dead Can Dance!!! I didn’t know there was a statue there affiliated with them! I’m assuming they use it on an album cover or in a video? Do tell…🧐😎
When I was there, I was alone. There were only a couple other people in the entire cemetery. It took me about 45 minutes of wandering through the labyrinths to finally find Jim’s grave site. It was just Jim and I and it was quiet. I’ll never forget.
thankyou jessica and michael! your gravesite videos are my favorite favorite favorite!!! there is something about the way u narrate, your voice, the music u use that makes it so peaceful and serene! 🖤💛🖤
I was 9 when Morrison passed. I remember hearing Riders on the storm on the radio in my moms car when I was a kid. I didn’t become a fan of the doors til I was in my 20’s. I still love the doors. Morrison was hot! If I was older I probably would have been one of his groupies and might have been lucky enough to sleep with him. LOL a lady can only dream. My sister visited that cemetary and took pics of Morrisons grave for me. I had them but now I have no idea where they went. There was a bust of Morrison but I think I read somebody had stolen it. I saw the Doors movie and read every book I could find of Morrison and the Doors. R.I.P Lizzard King and hopefully I can finally get to meet him in heaven.
Wow!! The opening for this video was amazing!! Another beautiful place I could wander through all day!! Awesome stuff, Michael and Jessica!! Happy...Halloween!!! 💚🪦🥰
Thanks for Beautiful Vlog. I am amazed with all of Jim Morrison's rock star money, he doesn't have an ornate crypt or beautiful statues for final resting place.

American actress Olivia de Havilland ("Gone With the Wind") died in 2020 at the age of 104 and is interred there in Pere Lachaise Cemetery as well.
I've lived right across the cemetery for a few years (born & bred parisian).
Always a special place for a walk no matter the weather. Also a cat paradise!
I agree! My last visit to the cemetery, I had a cat follow me on my walk.
I always love the cemetary walks. The art. The architecture. The peace.

Clicked on this video so fast. Love this cemetery. Have you ever been to Green-wood in Brooklyn? I recommend.
I remember crouching next to Jim Morrisons grave in November 91 no gate or guards then. May have been a security camera. Ian Astbury walked by.

Do tell…🧐😎

You both bring a sense of calmness and tranquility to every video.
This is probably the closest that i will ever get to see Jim's grave thanks for the video.
" Κατά το δαίμονα εαυτού" 🖤 Jim Morrison..
Beautiful cemetery 💜
Hi guys looking forward to this one the great jim morrison hope your both keeping well thanks for sharing 👍 😊
One day I'd love to visit the grave of Jim D. Morrison ♥
Love that music! Awesome video! Thanks
Very interesting and beautiful cemetery! And the details in some of those monuments are incredible! Thanks for Sharing!!!
When I was there, I was alone. There were only a couple other people in the entire cemetery. It took me about 45 minutes of wandering through the labyrinths to finally find Jim’s grave site. It was just Jim and I and it was quiet. I’ll never forget.
That was a great video. My favorite crypt was the one that looked like a church with the statues with the missing heads. Awesome place!
I love it! We were there in 2019. So beautiful. I wish I made RUclips videos then film more of it. Glad you made it there 😎✌️
thankyou jessica and michael! your gravesite videos are my favorite favorite favorite!!! there is something about the way u narrate, your voice, the music u use that makes it so peaceful and serene!
Such a beautiful place, so nice to see updated footage of Jim's grave, great video guys!

WOW!!!!!!!! Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for Beautiful Vlog. I am amazed with all of Jim Morrison's rock star money, he doesn't have an ornate crypt or beautiful statues for final resting place.
Death makes Angels 😇 of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as raven claws.... Feast of Friends.....James Douglas Morrison 🙏🏻🌹🕊️ ❤
