  • Arthur, starring Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Greta Gerwig, was released in 2011 to a pretty poor reception from movie critics. It's one of the reasons I stayed away from the film for so long. But I happened to watch it fairly recently and I'm left wondering, is it really as bad as that 2.4 Letterboxd score would have us believe?

Similar to me with Brand. He seemed like a bit of a shill at one point but then started challenging everything. He challenges the left and the right, big pharma etc I’ve warmed to him. Like yourself i can’t say he’s guilty of the accusations that came up but I do find their timing to be convenient for some people.
As for Arthur. I enjoyed it. I prefer the original but I thought this one was good. My two favourite Brand movies are “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and it’s follow up “Get Him to the Greek”. “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” is definitely my favourite though, even though he’s a supporting character in that one.

I think I need to revisit it with more mature eyes. I watched it as a kid and was very bored.

I've never heard of this film, which is weird, as it looks like a Batman parody in parts, so surely I should know of its existence.

Wow, really? And it's a remake of an already pretty well known film as well.

@@BryanLomax I'm not really into these types of movies, so I guess if figures why I've never stumbled upon the original or the remake.

I thought it was pretty funny, but I'd also never seen the original
