  • Dietmar Schmidtbleicher, Head and Chair for Sport Sciences at the Institute of Sport Sciences at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main in Frankfurt, Germany-and one of the world’s leading experts on strength and power training-explains the influencing factors of force production in eccentric muscle actions. Schmidtbleicher made a rare appearance in the United States at the NSCA’s 2015 National Conference. For more info about strength and conditioning, visit www.nsca.com.

Would be better if we could see the slides too.....

✅ An important talk about the future of training/adaptation stimuli - Dr. Schmidtbleicher is ahead of his time (and has been for a while)!

Eccentric loading is already possible on ARX

So the development of Eccentric strength will not immediately increase isometric or concentric strength
BUT will create a BASE(Foundation) wherein Max strength, Explosive strength etc can be increased higher
than would be possible otherwise(without the increase in Eccentric strength).

Brandon Green Coaches should apply this training to get the best performance out of their athletes.

👌🏽 + anything that creates more stiffness across tissues will enhance force rate development

Also, this is an off-season model.

Yeah, the more force you can absorb, the more force you can potentially produce!

Why is it not possible to combine nervous system exercises e.g sprints and jumps with muscle workout e.g squats, isn't this the way to generate power?

This man is clearly clever lol I'm just struggling to understand him lol will eccentric overload training increase concentric strength or will it just increase eccentric strengh?

Steven Ellam will create tissue stiffness (connective tissue) which enhances force rate development. Also creates potentiation by increasing isometric overload... that results in better stretch reflex so yes it should improve your concentric power

You can't only do eccentric training and become a freak. But eccentric training can build the base and train the stretch and shorting cycle. Combining both eccentric and concentric training, you can get a much better result!
