I used to work for brewdog Waterloo in the UK and I always felt uncomfortable around James or any of the higher ups and I'm a male so I can't imagine how some of the female staff felt :/ I thought I liked the company until I worked for them. The upper management would absolutely freak out at us when James (and whichever date he brought with him that day) walked through the door. I did not leave on the best terms .... Shocker.

It's an old story and old misinterpretation... Brew Dog never hated big beer breweries, they just hated that hey weren't one themselves. Now they are. Yawn.

Thats because people nowadays don't understand what it meant to be Punk, Punk was about being the counterculture.
Nowadays you have people who claim to be Punk whilst parroting all the big corpo narratives without even a hint of self-awareness.

What makes them worse is that at least the big beer brands market themselves as they are and don’t masquerade themselves as ‘craft’ and ‘independent’

Credit to the sociopath, he well and truly harnessed the power of the parasocial relationship. It's hard to blame him though. Sure, he's a liar, and that's terrible. But they didn't look further and just accepted it all at face value. We all should be taking responsibility for our own choices, regardless of what leads us to them.

Brewdog is that hipster beer that folks love, it’s got that punk vibe, two lads that kept getting told that you need to grow and develop your business because you’re game changers, movers and shakers …. But …… the clue is in the name …. there’s an undercurrent of a rabid facade that’s fuelled by narcissism, contradictions, empty promises and a lack of genuine transparency that’s covered by a veil of deceit. A couple of Scottish “geezers” that want the same thing most folks want; money, power and respect. The founders of Brewdog may be rich now … but was it all worth it?

I mean they're rich. So yes, definitely worth it. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks when you don't have to rely on them. I do believe that everyone should have been more aware they were being taken for a ride though. The people with tattoos are truly embarrassing. I don't think it's worth it for them..

@@wellthatsokay8582are they? I like some of their beers. They've gone back to the original Elvis Juice recipe and it's one of my favourites. I was gutted when they changed the recipe as it tasted terrible. I don't buy stuff I enjoy based on the morals of the company making them. If I did, there wouldn't be anything to enjoy because everyone is awful.

They are running a successful business. They’ve put beer in Scotland on the map globally. Previously abroad we were known for poor beer, Tenants Export, McEwans Lager etc. They’ve worked hard and build a global brand in a short period of time. As Scots we love to back the underdog, but when they become successful we love to tear them down. Yes mistakes have been made, as in all companies, they are addressing those mistakes. But they still employ a lot of Scots and are providing jobs in Regional areas of unemployment. For the keyboard warriors, have you worked 18-20 hour days to build something your passionate about, have any of you built something from nothing and banked £100m. I say, well done boys. Your an example to young entrepreneurs that you can come from a working class background and build an empire with hard work. We have a very short lifespan as humans, why not take risks and try to make an exceptional life. All companies that grow aggressively have these issues, it’s a case of pausing, benchmarking and addressing the issues, for the next stage of growth. It’s a common issue. However being Leary towards female staff in his employ, is just not acceptable, James obviously needs some self reflection and ego checks, else his achievements will be overshadowed by his impersonation of a bar fly
