You’ve got some misinformation here. The AMR DOES pierce heavy armour. It DOES NOT pierce “tank” armour. Light armour is class 2 Medium armour is class 3 Heavy armour is class 4 Tank armour is class 5+ AMR has AP4, Hulks eye is class 4, rest of its body class 5 AMR does have heavy pen, it just doesn’t have anti tank pen
The tanks have weakpoints in the back that can be penetrated by an AMR. Also, the turret of shredder tanks can be penetrated, but not the front plates. Considering shredder tanks cannot be out-turned, one thing you can do is to use their cannons to climb on top of them from the front and shoot the turret from the top. Actually, this is easier with an AMR and a Laser Cannon than with a railgun (takes too many shots), and it's impossible for an Autocannon (due to the AoE explosive damage). Of course, this used to be more relevant before the thermite grenades buff though. With them + supply pack, tanks are no longer a problem.
@@Grebogoborp ahh that makes sense. I don’t recall seeing it in patch notes but did notice the armour getting hit with things like the Senator. Still much easier to kill through the eye as their main health pool is quite large
@@leonardorossi998 the tank heat vents are class 3, primaries can pierce it as well, theyre a so particularly vulnerable to explosive damage. Also, the Quasar can handle tanks from more than just the back, hitting the corners of the Shredder tank armour plates results in a one shot (don’t as me how), for regular cannon variants, hitting the back 1/3 of the side also results in a one shot. Bring the fact it one shots Hulks, gunships fabricators and Factory strider cannons while having infinite ammo, Quasar is S Tier not considering it allows for a backpack with all that utility
@@ConnaKazie. Yeah, I know, I was just saying that the AMR can deal with tanks, although not necessarily at maximum efficiency. Personally, I like the Railgun, simply because it can still deal with a lot of things, and use thermite grenades for tanks. I agree that the quasar is good though.
I was actually maining the AMR today, after using the railgun since the 60-day patch, and I found it really rewarding. Just aim your shots, don't panic. You can 1-2 shot berserkers and devastators and 2-3 shot Hulks, but if you panic and start randomly firing then this can almost triple the kill times. Same with gun ships, although you do have to lead your shots more than you would have to with the rail gun.I haven't used it on the illuminate yet but I hope it absolutely destroys those overseers.
Weapon loadout is not only about the weapon being "good", it's also about what you aim for in synergies. For example, if you already carry the sabot medium pen slugs shotgun, you'll be aiming for large game with an even heavier supporting weapon (heavy pen MG, commando, recoiless...) offloading all chaff onto other players, or an infantry hunter by adding an MG or grenade launcher. The problem with the AMR is the counter-sniper rifle, which has med pen too, and the Senator with heavy pen for those hulks. If the AMR had heavy pen, or more ammo per clip, I think it may get more popular, since it is a semiauto sniper rifle, even counting the killzone plas-sniper (med pen and explosive, just needs to charge and 3 shots per mag, 9 mags...)
“Man, if only the AMR had heavy pen!” WDYM?????? The AMR DOES have heavy pen! It penetrates class 4 (heavy) armor! It simply does not penetrate Tank (5) armor, which is different, and only appears on part of tanks, buildings, and parts of factory striders. Even then, those enemies have multiple medium armored weakpoints which can be penetrated by not just the AMR, but even the MG.
@@blehmeh9889 ah, my bad, I thought that was the reason I wasn't using it. That's the problem then, it's Heavy Pen but neither Explosive nor AntiTank, so the heavy MG is best but for the range, and there are primaries better for the range, I end up using plasma, cookout, slugger, counter diligence, senator, grenade pistol, stun grenades, and an antitank, Machine Gun or Grenade Launcher as support depending on the mission. The AMR simply doesn't fit with my kit's requirements :(
AMR does penetrate heavy armor now after the buffdivers patch so it can kill chargers (it's still nit as good as the railgun against them) also I don't think it loses penetration at long ranges you just prob hit from a bad angle.
Pretty sure the AMR doesn't loose penetration at range... you can 4 shot cannon towers at 500+m, and 2 shot hulks at the same distance. It does have bullet drop at that distance you need to compensate for, and at oblique angles it can get deflected.
I’ve been using the AMR ever since I unlocked it - it’s my standard go-to Anti-Bot weapon of choice. It handles most situations, save for tanks and walkers but for those I can just call in some air/orbital strikes.
I think is fair, but i still dont like that it loses penetration from bigger range. Is what people love the most from playing a sniper type character, so if you can't do that is no wonder is an underused weapon. AMR with the jump pack and eagles is still a fun build.
AMR is good my issue with it is twofold 1: it does not one shot hulk eyes, FS chin turrets (i think), devastator thoraxes/heavy devastator backpacks, and gunship engines unlike railgun 2: no third person reticle is personally unbearable. For those reasons I usually stick to the railgun personally but the AMR is decent. The railgun also is able to take out the fortress turrets in one shot as well as being able to pen the front of regular turrets (although it takes like 5-6 rounds to kill then this way so not recommended unless other options are not available). It can also one shot anti air and mortar emplacements as well as being able to kill the main FS cannon and take out the FS itself in only 6-8 shots to the eye. The railguns versatility against any threat on the bot front no matter how large or armored combined with how forgiving it is with landing shots (IE only needing to hit anywhere on the body of a devastator to kill it) make it better in my book especially since the AMR has no third person reticle and the scopes in this game are a bit janky
For bots I like AMR for distance, or railgun for more medium to close range. Jumppack and stuns for both. Scout for AMR and sneaking into objectives. Engineering for railgun and rushing stuff
The AMR is a beast against bot. My only concern is that if you aim well enough to consistently headshot devastators, a diligence is enough. That's why I don't bring AMR nor Railgun often even though they're great. It's TOO much for what I use it for and I have a less expensive tool for this role. I would admit that the AMR can get rid of way more ennemies than the diligence though.
Ever since I saw a build guide with it that I dubbed "Sniper Fairy", the AMR has been my go-to bots weapon. The load out from that guide goes: Scythe Senator pistol Stun Grenades AMR Jetpack Aerial burst Orbital Air Strike The Stun Grenade+AMR against Hulks always works a treat. Against chaff, the Air Burst and Scythe gets the job done right quick, the Air Strike gets rid of factories and super-large targets, and the jetpack just gets you out of bad situations and into vantage points. Very solid build~
I agree, it's a very solid build, but yeah, it lacks of factory/nest removal, but we'll say that the teammates would help about that, cuz the air strike WILL take a while if you have to remove a heavy outpost with like 4 factories, but like I've said, the teammates would help about that so still solid build
@808ster Yep. It was definitely sold to me as a support build, and more likely than not, teammates will have the standard destroy anything else loadouts. Just gotta keep dropping the heavies for them~
The AMR is phenomenal. Ok, it's not a panik weapon like a quasar and you have to know your enemy but if you do, the high fire rate and the magazine let you clear multiple medium or even large enemies in the same time you have to wait for cooldown on the quasar for example. Oh and you can reload while running away and have plenty of ammo for a support weapon that isn't an MG.
It's 1 shot to the strider's leg, one to the devastator head or 2 for the body/funky hitbox. And 2 to hulk's eye. 2 to gunship engine as well. Really easy harvester killer as well.
Are you sure the AMR loses penetration at range? I’ve done plenty of sniping with it and I’ve taken down plenty of cannon towers and hulks from long range. It should be noted that the angle of impact is the single greatest factor for penetration outside of the weapon and armor in question; glancing blows lose penetration power, so try to maneuver or wait until you have a head-on angle to the part you’re trying to shoot.
My favorite support weapon weapon personal preference is the quasar canon. the cool down is a pain but I don't have to stop and reload. Switching back to my primary to stay in the fight. It also works great on taking out long range targets as well (buildings, nest, broadcast towers etc)
2:45 Its one shoting them if shoot legs or belly segment, and in the higher difs driver does not exist physically, so it would not one shot em anyway even if it penetrait face plate
Who says the AMR is bad? It is one of the strongest Heavy Armor options. Unfortunately, Helldivers 2 has strange sloping/angle deflections on armor sometimes. The AMR can go through the heads of Chargers/Behemoths/Bile Titans and kill them, you just need good aim on a quickly advancing target.
I love the AMR my only issues with it are its reticle not being a normal thinish crosshair and the sway which steadying aim was a thing So if we could customize reticles and hold breath to stablize id be more sold It feels terrible for example when you think you have crosshairs lined up but its hard ish to tell bc of how weird they look
AMR is ok. Try autocannon for bots It's the best weapon against devastators and striders at longer range, with low time to kill since you don't have to spend time lining up shots, and aoe. Only possible weakness depending on positioning are the factory strider and perhaps tanks, but you can figure those out. AMR is the better choice if you need a backpack.
The AMR pens heavy armour, it’s just that the charger has a very complex geometry to hit on its head. You’re better off breaking its leg armour then unloading on the leg with your primary.
Honestly I think the AMR is just a worst autocannon especially for bots, the autocannon can kill all bots units and can take down fabricators and rarely will ever run out of ammo, if only the ARM could deal with fabricators i'd use it more often but I guess it would be too op.
