Does the sealant leach into drinking water from the pipe?
You guys all talk way too much... Just get to the point
It's not even four minutes. That's not long.
this video saved me from removing a new tub valve install - unsoldering two male copper fittings and replacing them because of two leaks that I had tightened all the way and still leaked. I'm usually not a teflon tape + pipe dope guy, but had to give this a try before I spent a couple more hours redoing new work because of poor threads. I removed the unions, cleaned off the threads, wrapped 3-4 rounds of teflon tape and pipe dope and it worked! No more leaks, no more work.
Nice
I love your videos. I have seen them all. I started my pressure washing business watching your videos.

What about freezing area one better than the other.
I have a project at home and I really like your demonstration after I watched your video on this RUclips. Thank you very much!

I didn't need thread sealant. I used the Makita grinder and cut the metal tubes but left just enough for me to pound in some plugs and I used some JB Weld to seal around those plugs. Then when that's cured I'll just bolt them back on.
Any discounts for the business marketing course anytime soon?

Pipe dope on top of the Teflon tape also will also help lubricate the fitting allowing you to get it on tighter.
It's superfluous. Use only tape.
Pipe dope on top of 3 wraps of teflon tape works wonders in certain apps...500 psi nitrogen. Male Threads must be cleaned with acetone/91% alcohol before taping. @@ralphmacchiato3761
I rarely have a professional plumber work on my house, but when I did have one do some work a few years ago he applied pipe dope on top of Teflon tape. When I asked why he used both he said "I don't like call-backs and using both has reduced callbacks to almost zero". Since then I've been using both.
Both! 👍🏻

Does pipe thread sealant help prevent it from getting jammed up in the future. Let’s say if it has to be unthread, 15 years later and it’s rusted and corroded?
Tape is a lot easier to take apart in the future because the tape kinda shreds up when you loosen it. Depending on the dope/paste, regular stuff with ptfe seems to harden absolute rock hard making disassembly a pain. Metallic and non metallic dope seems to stay soft which is nice
Question I have both products but when i install the stainless steel eye wash station it sill leaking and I use enough tape and sealant any else suggestions? I appreciated
Use permatex 567 for stainless. Comes in a tube like toothpaste. About $60.
Them old leaks ! This was on spot !!
Yes sir!
Do not use Teflon and pipe dope at the same time on PVC fittings they will crack use one or the other use the blue PVC tape, Teflon or pipe dope when dealing with chemicals such as SH
Go with Blue
Blue monster tape is the best
Thread sealant won't make it difficult to unscrew in case I need to remove in tje future?
No, it's not an adhesive
The blue monster tape is the best tape I have ever used not one leak
You just twist the tape into a thin thread and place it in the groove of the tap, then proceed to work the full thread and done.
No
Blue Monster or TRU Blue all the way
👊🏻
What are your thoughts on Oatey's pipe dope?
@@zanderesp4295 as long as it has PTFE it will het the job done but Blue Monster and Tru blue and rock solid products
How do you pay your employees? By the hour?
They are paid by the hour but also have a compensation package based on performance and other measurable indicators.
OK SO OUT OF THE 2 WHAT IS BETTER TO USE?
Both are good - we use Teflon tape mostly
❤
Combining liquid sealant with PTFE tape goes against industry standards. Use one or the other but not both.
If you are getting leaks with PTFE than you put too much tape and you do not have enough turns in your connection. Check the reference table for the correct number of turns depending on the thread size. If you are unable to complete the correct number of turns than you put too much tape on, remove and start over. Most plumbers are idiots.
Why
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Because that can resort in distortion of the threads. Also do you realize that PTFE is strictly for lubrication and preservation of the threads? It does not seal anything. The tapering of the NPT threading is what seals. Check the chart, everything under 1-1/4" requires 2-3 turns (3 is better). Goes down from there. After you have hand started your threading, put a mark on the fitting with a sharpie and count the turns properly (take the guess work out). Two turns of PTFE tape around a joint is max that I use, there is never a need to put more than that. But dumb ass plumbers put 5-6 turns of PTFE and than wonder why their shit is leaking resorting to further retardation of combining liquid sealant with PTFE.
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Have you ever worked as a pipe fitter on a steam line? You do that combo shit of liquid + PTFE on a steam line your ass is fired. I hate plumbers because almost none of you ever read technical documentation.
