    Point 10: Thomas Zane wrote himself out of existence. This is mentioned in Alan Wake. That would explain why the psychologist interviewing Jessie hadn't heard of him. No need for alternative dimensions needed here.

      quite strange that he forgot that. that is one of the biggest things you learn in the game. the revelations about sarah's father truly surprised me. I remember wondering about him when playing alan wake, thinking that maybe he was a bit important somehow. like part of a group of old people in the town who knew about the lake and the dark entity.

    Also, Ahti says that the song "Take Control" is a gift from his friends, and while you approach his "summer cabin" he laughs about swedish brothers not being able to handle his sauna, so he seems to know Tor and Odin. Furthermore, his other favorite song "Sankarin Tango" (translates to Hero's Tango, lyrics by Sam Lake) begins with a reference to Alan Wake: "I once mistook an ocean for a lake". Its lyrics also seem to reference typical video game respawn mechanics among other things.

    • @Caldera01
      @Caldera01 4 года назад +21

      There's good reason to think that Ahti is precisely that, the Finnish ocean God Ahti.
      1. Everyone calls Jesse 'Director', except Ahti. For him, Jesse is just an assistant.
      2. He can access any part of the Old House he wants without the need for the vest. Even the members of the Board are susceptible to being corrupted by the Hiss, but not Ahti.
      3. His carts with the radio can be found in places that are being 'haunted' by the Hiss. Marking places where the Janitor needs Jesses assistance.
      4. Ahti deals with the Hiss and other such things with mundane indifference, like clearing it is just a mundane chore for a janitor.
      If all of this is true, it would also mean that Tor and Odin are also precisely that. They are Tor and Odin, the Viking Gods.
      Their lack of power can be explained with a sort of Hawthorne effect where they draw their power from people's beliefs and traditions.
      That would make these guys literally very Old Gods and would thus be in need of assistants.

      @yellowbat79 4 года назад +7

      @@Caldera01 its also good to point out that apparently the initial idea for the old gods was for them to have powers.

    It's painfully obvious Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control all take place in the exact same world. The only 'maybe' factor would be Max Payne because they went and sold the game to R*. Control proves it by describing the events of Alan Wake as an event that was thoroughly investigated. In Quantum Break you can find books written by Alan Wake in various locations. They are all in the exact same world.
    I highly suspect that now that Remedy has full control (no pun intended) of Alan Wake rights that we finally see a sequel, and during that game the bureau plays a large role in the story.
    As a side note, I kept thinking we were going to see some mention that the Oceanview Motel and Casino was located in Night Springs, Arizona. As a nod to American Nightmare.

      Alan is the pinnacle of Remedy's games. Control was decent but imo yet another step backwards. Jess the protagonist is uninteresting and spends almost all of the game reflecting on Captain Obvious-level ideas. Of course the little touches in the game are amazing as per usual.. the collectibles, live videos etc. I sound a bit dour although I did enjoy the game and recommend it, especially to those who haven't played Alan Wake or any of the Max Payne games. But yea Lord Solar, Alan is just such an amazing game I imagine it is just hard to live up to it.

      James Houseman I’ve just finished replaying Alan Wake, following the mentions in Control (this time on PC) and, although I really enjoyed it, I’d forgotten just how much of it is fighting the exact same enemies in the same dark woods. The combat also felt much clunkier than I’d recalled. Still a really good game, but I think my memory had been kind to it.
      I’d have definitely placed it above Control before replaying it, now I think I might swap the two around...

      - you think so because Alan was long time ago and now its like an old friend to you, you love him because of the time of your life when it was released. @@user-gl7zi3ko8o I replayed Alan Wake a few weeks before Control was released. It was fresh in my memory. I still stand with my post. Control is good but other than the Director and Casper Darling the characters were unmemorable. Even the combat was just too easy on the hardest setting and was repetitive -- throw a box, throw a chair, throw a box, end fight. Alan is a game released in 2010 and although is a bit clunky I even enjoyed the combat more as it had a bit of survival horror element that new gamers don't like because they are used to 1 shotting enemies like it Fortnite or CoD and don't like ammo preservation.

Plus more, theory says that Tomas created

    Jesse and Dylan didn't get their power from Polaris, polaris only showed them how to use it. There's a few clues. Dylan says " she didn't give me any powers, all the powers are my own powers "
    The old gods tell Jesse this as well in the song " the might i see has always been deep within me. I can feel my inborn power, i call the shots when it's all finally clear to see".
    A lot of the time Jesse thinks she's talking to Polaris, it's really her ESP sensing things. The way Danny Torrance does in the shining. He thinks it's an imaginary friend Tony.
    On another note, Jesse sees Polaris as a bright star. The way Alan sees Thomas Zane. Although wearing a diving suit.

    The Bureau is the collective unconscious of the gamers especially those who played the previous Remedy Games : Max Payne 1&2 and Alan Wake , This is why Trench monologues are the same as Max Payne monologues , this is why all the characters seems so archetypal because we already know them from various game references : The scientist , the CIA agent , the Soldier , the bureaucrat ...
    The Janitor represents Sam Lake and his mission is to bring order to our collective unconscious this is why he referred to the God of Asgard as his friends because Sam Lake and Marko Saaresto the lead vocalist of the Poets of the fall are friends and works together since 2001 and their art have a commun message .
    The board represents literally the board of directors "Remedy" and its only role is to incite you and give you a purpose to play the game this is why it breaks the fourth wall and only the Director "the player" could understand it .
    So after all this we could say that Alan Wake and Jesse faden don't only share a same fictional universe but literally share our collective consciousness and freeing Alan from the Dark presence is not just a question of plot but a literal change in our collective unconscious and that's already started with Jesse faden who is in control and growing brighter as the true Polaris !

    Okay so this isn't in correlation to Alan wake, but, Dylan talks about a dream where he and jesse are the same person if you listen to the hiss incantation it makes it sound like the slide projector opened a rift and let Dylan in . That's why I think the hiss is actually there bc of the two

    There are secret messages in Controls maze song,"Take Control" There seems to be a hidden hotel cord in the game that leads to an Alan Wake secret.

      These are the reversed clips. The first is about the motel light cord, the second has numbers that spell ASGARD IS. The third says. You missed one or may be 2 easter eggs and nods to Alan Wake:
    1-. There's a board in one of the offices in the Research (investigation) level where a "shoebox" is referenced at as an important altered item and that it has elements that later became the base development for the shelters throughout the entire game. Well that shoebox is where the clicker is stored and also on the board is written Bright Falls.
    2-. This one is a nod to Alan Wake. There's a room on that same level where you can hear a 5 minutes song from Poets of The Fall, the RL rock band that performed the "Gods of Valhalla's" songs from Alan Wake.

    Much as I'd want this to be a world building exercise by 'Remedy', these "Easter eggs" are just that and more a fans service for the previous game. It would of been easier to link this game to 'Quantum Break' if that's the way they were going but I don't think so.

    For anyone who reads this, this is how the whole Thomas Zane thing works out. Thomas went to bright falls on a vacation and stayed on a island in cauldron Lake with his wife Barbra Jagger. They loved it so much they stayed and Zane was an avid scuba diver, so much so the area was named divers isle. One day his wife drowned supposedly draged by the dark presence and Thomas overwrought with grief tried to write her back into existence but the dark presence possessed her and made Zane write poems as his editor to make it stronger. Zane figured it out and decided to write himself and the darkness out of existence (of course this didn't work) but makes a failsafe. He let a woman by the name of Cynthia Weaver keep memories of him and entrusted her with a shoebox with a manuscript page detailing Alan and the clicker and how he would defeat the darkness. Then after the some odd years latter Alan visits their on vacation and the dark presence sets him up to stay on bird foot island. The dark presence waits till dark and makes Alan's wife Alice fall into the water and she is too draged down by the dark presence. The dark presence makes Alan write the events of the story telling him it can bring back his wife but he figures out she's deceiving him and he writes Thomas Zane back into existence as a guide and a light presence. Giving himself guns, ammo, and other objects to fight the taken the dark controls. Then the events happen and Alan finds the clicker and fulfills the prophecy. Of course if I remember right a the darkness possesses an FBI agent by the name of Nightingale and a local waitress replaced Cynthia Weaver after the story ends.

      @@divinitymode9364 I feel like it was a good premise with a mediocre storyline. The whole of the FBC is EXCELLENT, but the problem is that the Hiss... aren't a very good antagonist, and aren't all that complex. Even Dylan is more a victim than a villain at the end of the day.
