Oddly both Alan Wake the author and Alan Wake the video game both exist in the world of Quantum Break, meaning Alan Wake is sharing a universe with Alan Wake.
And while I don't think it can be ever confirmed unless Remedy gets the QB rights back, I would assume Alan Wake (the character) probably wrote himself into QB's world that way for a reason.
Remedy ought to make more characters with abstract abilities and publish comic books cuz they def have the writing talent when it comes to building a universe. Also I have yet to see any studio showcase superhero-like special fx better than remedy, I’d say they should be the ones called to make X-Men games but they very well can build their own X-Men especially If they can get quantum break in on this universe
Sam Lake is basically Quentin Tarantino In the video game world. His crazy love for movies and TV shows are present! Remedy aren't mainstream, but we sure as hell know whatever they're cooking, Is gonna be a hit!
At the moment, the best game developers are Remedy. They don't care about sales... but on the other hand, the quality of their games is top of the line. They have a rule of letting players immerse themselves in the stories of their games... and it's certainly never easy to combine all the stories of these games into one... I think Remedy is the first to do that... Now they have big projects: Alan Wake 2, Max Payne 1 + 2 Remake, Control 2... for me, the most important is Alan Wake 2... and I'm very excited about it. I respect this team...
I love Alan Wake- in my top 10 games of all time. Also loved Quantum Break & Max Payne. Not as big of a fan of Control. But Remedy is right up there with the best single player developers in the gaming industry. Can't wait for Alan Wake 2!
Same for me. I was excited about Control but it wasn't my type of game at all. I was surprised b/c I enjoyed every other game that they've made. Great game; just not my type.
As much as I love Alan Wake and Control, nothing comes close to Max Payne for me. One of the Greatest Action games of all time and storytelling that was ahead of its time. Am at the last episode of Alan Wake tho, so things might change😂
I think if Remedy ever wants to, they could buy the rights to Quantum Break back from Microsoft. It had the exact same fate as Alan Wake. Xbox exclusive that didn't sell as Microsoft wanted and they decided to not do anything else with the IP. Though in this case, I don't know if a sequel was ever planned. Whereas we know for many years Remedy tried to get Alan Wake 2 off the ground in some form or another. It wasn't until buying back the rights that they could finally do that. As for Max Payne, beyond the remakes, if they ever make a 4, I think at best the bring Remedy on as consultants again (like 3) or co-developers. But I doubt Rockstar would sell back the rights.
@@iamskyfallRockstar still owns Max, they are collaborating with Remedy on the remake like they did the first two games. Remedy develops but Rockstar still publishes and holds the rights. That being said I really don't want Max to be part of this universe. His story is too grounded for the supernatural stuff
I played Control last year and mostly loved it. And am finally playing Alan Wake after wanting to do so for years. Just finished episode 5 and other than the length i love it too. Remedy is just so awesome. Need to play Max Payne 2 and 3 as soon as possible!
HOLD IT! Alan's typewriter is NOT confirmed to be an OoP. In fact, there is more evidence for it being an ordinary typewriter than it being an OoP, seeing as the other artists in Hartman's lodge were also all able to affect reality, only to a lesser extent than Alan or Thomas Zane. Oh, and Thomas Zane didn't have the typewriter either, so that's another piece of evidence against Alan's typewriter being an OoP, at least at the time of the first Alan Wake game.
On the topic of American Nightmare's cannonicity, there is mention in CONTROL of AWEs increasing in frequency after Alan Wake's disappearance, including a whole town appearing and disappearing in the middle of the desert. This also somewhat lines up with mentions of people finding defaced manuscripts labeled "Return".
I’ve played control, Alan wake, and a very small portion of quantum break. I finished control on the deck. And I just got Alan wake like a day ago and I’m soon done with that game. Control is a very good game. Gameplay wise. It got a very good build but I got very bored at that game. I don’t know why. The building or whatever it was. Felt more like a maze. And story wise the game had good story. But it was hard for me to focus on the story because it was very confusing at first. Alan wake. Is a very very very good game compared to control according to me. The graphics are still mind blowing. And I can’t believe the game looks so good on the deck.. it shocked me! The story is a lot easier to understand and it is freaking amazing. The story captivates you from the first minute. To the last. Gun play is amazing. The concept of the game is amazing. The world looks incredible!! The characters animation everything is just wow. Can’t wait for Alan wake 2.
Alan Wake's gameplay felt a little bit repetitive imo but the story is definitely great and easier to understand than Control's. On the other hand I had a blast playing Control for the first time (even with the long sections to get to another sector) but most of what I know about the story is a combination of the game and yt videos (@Gaming University 's videos are great).

So, in the part where the author says that max payne is not connected to the remedyverse, i believe control has his guns as objects of power or mentioned in a file ingame i cant remember its somewhere where the containment cells are in…
Is Max Payne still a part of this universe even though Take-Two has all the rights to the Max Payne? They bought the IP from Remedy and Apogee, for $34 million in cash and stock. Remedy are being allowed to merely develop the remasters, but the IP no longer lies with them. Max Payne is now in whatever universe Rockstar sees fit.
It’ll be cool to see the FBC show up at the end of Alan Wake 2. For an end credit sort of thing. Or at least hear them mentioned throughout the game at least oncs
We need more games like that focus on good gameplay but also a gripping story that pulls you in. Instead of games that are focused on multiplayer that are cash grabs selling you DLCs (skins, weapons, new map), instead of a good game and story. When I was in highschool I got into games not just for the gameplay but mostly the story. Games like MGS, Silent Hill original and 2, God of War, and the list goes on. But today Modern Warfare this and Fortnight that. Buy this, and mindless killing other players instead of a bad ass story with interesting characters. Games were like classic movies when I got into video games in the late 90s, but now there constant Marvel movies and billions of sequels. Same bs just touched up a bit to make easy money.
Quantum Break is Great, Control is as well But its Borderline too horror-ish/ Creepy for me, otherwise id rate it higher than QB. Never playing an AW game, so i do hope Remedy Gets to do another QB game.

Officially, no. Not like Alan Wake and Control. However, as shown in the video, their are Max Payne easter eggs that Remedy make as obvious to fans without (for legal reasons) saying the character's name.
He didn't create the FBC or the existance of AWE's or places/objects of power. Its just theorized that he created the events at Ordinary, possibly created Jesse & Dylan & created the hiss.
One thing i dont understand. Why does Microsoft hold rights to QB, when they have done literally nothing with it since 2016, and are not planning to do anything. Why dont just sell the rights so someone else, who maybe has a better vision for it? Its literally useless IP for MC...
Because they funded it? Probably Funded Alan Wake as well since I keep seeing they bought the rights back from whom? I imagine MS sold it back to them. So IF that's the actual story ( again idk) Then you Owe MS for liking said games. even if they did keep the rights to the QB IP.
Control was game of the year for me... I've never played a game as mind-bending, yet fun, as that.
Alan wake walked so that control could run
yeah that game was awesome
It quickly became one of my favorite games of all time after I randomly came across it on Steam and went out on a limb and bought it.
