    Another great video, very informative, although when my wife sees all the stuff Daphne brought she thinks she may need more things. Ugh. You did make her decide she can probably use dry shampoo etc. So thanks for that. Keep up the great content. Maybe we will catch up with you two some where in the next couple years. Good job! We’re into our 5th year of full-time travel. We now carry two backpacks and two roller bags and feel like we’re on top of things when the total of our bags is less than 90 pounds in total. We feel like every time we head out on a long stint, our packing gets better and better. When I remember that on our first trip, my husband packed his tuxedo! We’re WAY over that now! (And btw, we are Russian doll packers, not cubers).

    You both are so cute! I totally love your videos and I get so excited when you have a new one! I’m interested in that bar shampoo and conditioner. I usually go to the beauty supply and buy sample size products. Last time in London my suitcase got flagged for 100 ml bottles. I’m wondering if you like the bars? I have a lot of hair and need good products. You guys are doing great on your luggage! Every trip I’ve taken, I learn new things. Experience makes a good traveler! Have a great time and I can’t believe you flew all that way and yet look so fresh!😂 Those long flights kill me! Enjoy Asia!!!

    • @RetiredNomadAdventures
      @RetiredNomadAdventures  18 дней назад

      Thanks Robin! 😊 I usually bring sample/travel size bottles of shampoo and conditioner with me too, but those don’t last long for this longer term travel. My hair is so fussy and when we were on our last trip, I had a surprisingly hard time finding shampoo/conditioner that agreed with my hair. I really like this bar shampoo/conditioner combo. It seems to really get rid of all the build up and leave my hair soft and clean. I was able find a smaller bottle of conditioner I like here. So, I wash my hair with the bars only most times, but then I throw in some deeper conditioner every third wash or so. I hope that is helpful, I know keeping on top of our hair needs when traveling can be tough.

    You may find that you can ditch the foot filers, loofahs, soap stuff, etc. Pedicures are generally less than $10 in the countries you’re visiting. And razors and lots of brands of shampoo, etc. are available everywhere. I’ve found I pack fewer and fewer toiletries every time we head out on a “stint”. And I now only have one set of jammies.

    • @tanyas6643
      @tanyas6643 17 дней назад

      I agree! Asia does spa services really well at inexpensive prices. And unless you have allergies or skin and or hair “issues” and need to carry “safe and familiar” toiletries, most basics can be bought at the destination. (I usually buy toothpaste, body wash, body lotion and shampoo and conditioner, at most of my destinations.)

      Thanks!! 😊 It is tricky to pack for long term travel! The thing we had going in our favor this time is that the weather should be mostly sunny and hot everywhere we are going so we were able to pack lightweight clothes and there wasn’t the need to add items for different climates. Phew! 😅

    This winter we are staying in our condo in Mexico and for the first time I brought a giant bag which was overweight and cost us extra 😱but allowed me to bring enough toiletries to last me. Last year I had difficulty finding my preferred brands. The upside is that I can buy my tretinoin over the counter :) I've found that I do pack differently each big trip, sometimes it works out and sometimes I change eventually. Enjoy Thailand - it lis on my list for sure!

    • @RetiredNomadAdventures
      @RetiredNomadAdventures  18 дней назад

      Great strategy!! I struggle with finding my preferred brands too! I know I can get most things wherever we are, but I am so used to my brands and I am happy with them, that I don’t want to have to spend time and money figuring out the best alternatives. I was able to buy Tretinoin over the counter in one pharmacy in Portugal, but not others. I am going to see if it is possible here I Thailand. I will report back. 😂😊

    We were so scared of the size and weight limits on our Lufthansa flight to Rome that we bought the smaller Away carry ons and then limited ourselves to 18 lbs (8 kg). They never even looked at our bags when we boarded. Maybe it's up to the agents? Maybe since we had business class they don't check? Love hearing real world experience from you (and others).

    • @RetiredNomadAdventures
      @RetiredNomadAdventures  18 дней назад +1

      I must admit we are a bit nervous each time we check in for a flight about the size and now the weight of our luggage. I don’t know if I can do better or go smaller - maybe in time. I love that you were able to do it! #inspiration! 😊

      It’s been my experience that most airline staff is far more indulgent regarding luggage weight, when you fly business or first class… although it still needs to physically fit into the overhead or under the seat.

    • @pamhiar5708
      @pamhiar5708 15 дней назад +1

      While at a Lufthansa gate last year while awaiting my departure in Germany, I watched the gate agent trolling the area looking at bags. She then had several people come up to the counter and put their carry on bag in the sizer which also had a built in scale. One girl then was desperately going through her bag to take items out as hers was overweight.

    • @Every_State_Park
      @Every_State_Park 14 дней назад

      @ that’s what we were afraid of even though we have the correct size. But now we’ll just check if asked. It’s not like we get a prize for not checking bags.

    Thats the largest toiletry bag for a man I've ever seen! Mine is the size of one of those sections in that large fold up kit you have. I dont travel with shampoo or soap as I use whatever is provided at the accomodation so that might be part of it but I have found that I can buy virtually anything I might need in most countries so I don't worry about it that much. The only thing I really need is my deodorant brand which is non aluminium based.

    May I ask- what are the dimensions of your carry on suitcases? They look larger than what many airlines allow as carry on? Or are you checking these carry on suitcases and your backpacks end up being your carry on luggage?
    Thank you for sharing- enjoy your travels through SE Asia.

    • @RetiredNomadAdventures

      The dimensions are 22.7x15.4x9.6. We have used the backpack as our personal item and suitcase as carry on. If we have to check the suitcase due to size or weight, then the backpack becomes our carry on. 😊
