143 days my baby was in NICU . Less than 15% survival, we thought we would have to plan a funeral... instead we were blessed to plan his homecoming 5-9-18 . Forever grateful and in hopes to one day become a nurse myself .
WHAT!! I am born at 23 weeks. and I survived!!! that's crazy, make me cry because I'm not supposed to be alive. I want to be a neonatal nurse and I'm 15, I can't wait!!!!!!!💙💙💙
I just turned 16 a short while ago, but I was wanting to be a nurse since I was 5, but soon discovered the nicu field with infants at 11 and wanted to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for a while and then switched to ob/gyn bc I want to be a doctor, but I soon discovered I wanted to be a Doctor, but with the infants, not just pre/post birth, so I did some research and discovered Neonatology and am over thrilled bc this is the best of both worlds and I am so excited to finish out my next 2.5 years of highschool and work hard to get to that profession!
But Np nurses have to put the tubes through the baby's nose & mouth?? That sounds painful & to see that.. i don't know if I could support that..id be crying

Rachel Osei it can be a little quiet at times. The NICU is such a unique environment because of the way stimuli are controlled. It’s like a giant womb for the baby. You’re caring for the most vulnerable patients and it takes great care to make sure everything is done right, like IVs, their little NG tubes, their meds, and so on.
Rachel Osei If you are good in school, start taking classes to get to your goal. Get a job now at a hospital so that when you graduate, you will be hired at that institution. One step at a time, but when you get that RN license, you can have an amazing career with hundreds of specialties to choose from. If you find you don’t care for NICU, then try ER, Operating Room, CCU, Hospice, etc etc. You will not get bored.

Since then I have learned alot about the different nursing paths I could take and fell in love with the idea of working in the NICU. I'm currently about to start my sophomore and am working as hard as I can to fulfill my dream of getting the blessing of caring for those little miracles and supporting their parents.
This is what I’m pursuing 🥰😩I can’t wait
Omg...looking at those babies in that condition makes me want to cry. 😪 awww
I was born at 1 pound 7 oz, I’m so grateful for the caretakers in NICU who didn’t give up on me. Today I’m a thriving 18 year old preparing for college *anything is possible*
