I was born in CDA and spent my first 25 years of life all around Northern Idaho. Moved to Florida over 4 years ago. I lived in Sandpoint for 8 years. Spirit Lake's water system can't handle more development and would cost tens of millions to expand it.
Your probable the reason all the prices are going up, because of all the growth. Rent and buying is no longer affordable, check out the wages in northern Idaho.

Hi John, we actually just did a series on Sandpoint and posted the first one last week. ruclips.net/video/PeCgGDQw7OE/видео.html Another one will be posted this Friday so make sure you have the notifications turned on so you get notified. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Sandpoint is ok, lots of traffic, but plenty of stores to shop at, I prefer it out in the woods where I'm at, I won't say where, but get yourself some property, you won't regret it
Dude, stop making Idaho look better than other states! The Californians are not moving to here anymore, soon enough most people from different states will make the Idaho housing market will increase into $1 million dollars! Good luck with that!
Housing (renting) has nearly doubled since 2012. When I moved in, my 3bd 2bth was $900. I moved out when rent reached $1550 in 2018. Now I'm in a home valued at $109,000 in 2018 and now it's skyrocketed $42, 000 and is valued at $151,000. Long story short, buy soon before home prices get even higher.
Good to know there are the lower end homes still too. We bought our beautiful century home for around $120,000 Cdn, near 3 years ago and will likely sell it for near $200,000 (if we emigrate). Housing is hot up here too. We'd want something for $150,000. Our needs are simple and there's a good chance we'd come down w/ a full sized winterized camper to live in while we figure it out. I've almost had apts. smaller than those darn things, the way they make them now, holy moly,
Hey Frye Guy Frye, there are container home builders up here in Coeur d'Alene! If you are interested in learning more give us a shout and we can get you more info. (208)907-5757
Prices are definitely going up and all of us locals are feeling it. But as the saying goes, all ships rise with the tide. It might take a little while for the job market to catch up but I feel confident that it will.
It’s true. I’ve been trying to get that close to one in the wild but so far the elk urine cologne hasn’t tricked ‘em. But there’s no question, we have wild bull elk that size in North Idaho.
First part of august 2021, medium price for a home in Rathdrum is close to 450K (almost 1/2 million) and you need cash to by, its getting crowded in Rathdrum, we are full, go back to Washington or California, thanks
Looks like it's turning into California .. I'm middle income in Michigan and I don't think I could get a place in Northern Idaho for what I'm paying now .. 🤔
It is really sad that people who were born and raised here, cannot even afford to buy a house. Even renting is becoming impossible without roommates. I find it sad that you are promoting having people move here because it is causing locals to have to move out :(
I hear what you are saying, Sarah. The fact is that places like Austin, Bend, Frisco, & Boise have been growing rapidly for years so it's not just us. I've watched this place change dramatically the past 29 years and while scary at times, it's going to provide a lot more opportunity for the next generation. 95% of the people I grew up with left because the opportunity here was almost non-existent. I like seeing that part change but you can't have one without the other.
@@LivingLifeNorthIdaho I would have to disagree with you. The cost of living in Idaho has dang near doubled over just the last few years, but yet the job market in this area is the same as it has always been. How is the next generation supposed to go to school when they are forced to pay a ridiculous amount in rent for a small place to live? My daughter might not even be living here by the time she is an adult due to the fact that her parents, who are both hard working adults who grew up here, cannot afford to buy a house. It is wrong.
@@sarahrenee03 I actually do agree with you to a degree. Housing has skyrocketed, I've seen a pretty dramatic rise in prices in just the last 2 years. The median home price in CDA (as of July 2021) is right around $500,000, and even the average rent has jumped up to $1400 per month, but finding good paying jobs around here is really difficult.

Expensive housing. Homes in rural northern Idaho are twice the price compared to rural Wyoming, rural Wisconsin, rural West Virginia, rural Alabama.
And or Kentucky as well ! Country for half the price .. 😁
Area amenities covered. Missed the cost of living discussed (name of video)other than the median house cost.

Heck at them prices ,I'll stay in the Ozarks!
What towns are close to the Canadian border??
Bonner’s county is pretty close to the border.
Lets be honest here. Most of the prairie is gone and the rest is being torn up. The house cost is WAY higher than you are telling.

Where is the cheapest property in north idaho im looking for 5-20 acres
I don’t think cheap and property in North Idaho go together anymore. But Lewiston seems to be the most affordable.
