Becky pleads with her, and Amber finally agrees to let her see the baby when Rick goes out. Amber asks Tawny to leave for an hour, then lets an excited Becky in. Rick tells Tawny that Amber seems to be at peace with herself for the first time in a long time. In the hallway, Thorne is in shock over what he's just seen. Brooke fights her feelings of passion, but Ridge insists that Thorne isn't enough for her. Brooke is stunned to see Taylor standing by the bed. *Ridge Has Pulled This on Brooke Before* Ridge tricking Brooke to break up her relationship with Thorne is similar to when he played on her feelings for him so she would give the company back to his family (in 1994). This time he’s doing it to save his mother and back then he was doing it for his father. I wrote about Ridge’s muddled actions in the earlier storyline in episode 1718. In the 1994 storyline, Ridge convinced himself that he was just rebuilding friendship with Brooke but in reality he was pushing all the romantic buttons that lead her on and she eventually believed he was going to leave Taylor for her. Ridge believed he could walk right up to the line without actually betraying his wife, get the company back, and claim he hadn’t actually deceived Brooke. In the 2000 storyline, the deceit is more explicit but Ridge has once again convinced himself that he doesn’t actually have feelings for Brooke and that he can walk right up to that line when in reality, the fake fight he’s been having with Taylor has layers of truth and so do the words he said to Brooke about their history and the feelings between them. In both storylines, Taylor is keenly aware of her husband’s subconscious feelings and she’s the one who puts an end to things before it goes too far - back then she appeared at Big Bear and exposed Ridge’s scheme to Brooke and this time she appears in the hotel room and tells Brooke that the whole thing was an act. Finally, @Annie has argued that Ridge & Taylor will be punished for their deceit with the arrival of Morgan, a dark figure from Ridge’s past who harbors a traumatic secret (her aborted baby) and similarly back then the couple had to confront a dark figure from Taylor’s past in James who also harbored a traumatic secret (his mother/Sophia). In many ways then this is a redo with important updates: Brooke shows more resistance to Ridge this time and Taylor is more actively involved in the deceit, indicating that she and Ridge are a more united front this time -- a stronger couple now with babies to boot.
Great analysis! I also commented on how this plot point has several other parallels in the show's history from Thorne's point of view as well (the "vo y e ur"). But it does say something about how Ridge looks at Brooke that he is actually willing to dec ei ve her like this repeatedly. He may be attracted to her, but deep down, he doesn't _re s pect_ her.

The men on this show🙄. Instead of actually confronting Brooke and Ridge, Thorne runs off and avoids facing the issue. Then he creates a whole issue just by avoiding the confrontation. This is a common move made by the men on this show. Sometimes it works in the narrative's favor (it does here, to an extent). Other times it plays out as just plain stupid (the mannequin incident involving Thomas, Liam and Hope is a case in point). Either way confrontation and resolution are not things these men are particularly strong at.

Watching this episode after so many years, I must realise that if Brooke hadn't seen Taylor entering the room, she would have fallen into Ridge's arms admitting she still loved him. Discovering that Ridge and Taylor were planning to separate her and Thorne instead, made her feel stronger into confirming her love for Thorne.
I think the show did a good job leaving it open to interpretation what Brooke would have done if Taylor hadn't walked in. I am inclined to agree with you - I think that even though what Brooke _said_ implied that she was in love with Thorne, her _actions_ seemed to indicate that she was still as attracted to Ridge as she ever was.
@@annieo6527 Brooke resisted a lot more than I was expecting! This scene with Thorne seeing Ridge and Brooke kissing is a nod to several similar scenes in the show's history. However, these scenes have been written with different outcomes in the past, meaning that this familiarity gives us no clue as to how this storyline will (or should) end. In 1992, Thorne saw Jake kiss Macy and chose Karen, but was never comfortable with that decision and returned to Macy. In 1996, Ridge saw Grant kiss Brooke and chose Taylor, to whom he is happily married now. And here, Thorne sees Ridge kiss Brooke, with Macy as his obvious rebound, and we _honestly don't know_ which woman the show wants us to see as the "right choice" because _Thorne himself_ is confused about this. Right now, Brooke is his first choice, but the "long term trend" has always been that _Macy_ is his first choice. This means that the Venice scheme can be read as either a _deception_ or a _wakeup call_ (se my comment in episode 3218 about the two narratives in that scene).

Maybe it would have helped. But for Becky it still would always be "her" baby and Becky always feeling drawn to the boy.
How could they have explained to Rick why aunt Becky would always get so emotional near the baby? Or what if the marriage again suffers and Becky feels that _her_ son deserves better than parents at odds ?
There really is no way they can keep Becky away from that baby in the long run. He is legally hers and she feels like his mother on an emotional level. And Amber knows it, as we can see by the look on her face as she watched Becky holding Eric.
@@annieo6527 I don't think it is that easy for Becky - Becky did give her baby up for adoption and signed away her rights in 1999 after Becky had given birth to that baby boy.....
- but yes, Becky has changed her mind about the adoption and she definitely has more rights to that baby than Amber has, who didn't give birth to nor did she adopt that baby boy.
@@mara4450 but did she really sign away her rights? The baby was never taken to the adoption agency, so I'm assuming those papers (even if signed) were never filed.
Thorn ain’t act like that when Macy,Darla or Ally died 😩
The stans and the so called “wanna-be neutrals” still don’t get it! And of course everything is Tridge’s fault now. 😂🤦♀️
The stans really are ridiculous!! All the times she's destroyed everyone's relationship, now dat karma had come to bite her in d a@@, its poor Brooke now!🙄🤢
@@ambika66681true, they even feel sorry for Brooke, which I could never be👍🏻😂
Thorne's acting is cringe AF. Like *@Nick* said: in terms of acting Jeff Tachta is the best Thorne
Yes! Whenever WH tries to do "dramatic" acting, it reminds me of a chimpanzee. Both his facial expressions and the way his Thorne suddenly can't walk upright when he's upset.
JT did a _much_ better job of those scenes after he saw Jake kissing Macy.
He only has one expression! 🤬
Expressionless RM is still less irritating !
On the plus side, this makes Thorne more convincing as Ridge's brother.
@@annieo6527 Chimpanzee is right 😃 plus this Thorne is spiteful just like Thorne 1
@@NewYorkNick0607 How so? You said WH looks nothing like a Forrester. Or you mean the below par acting?
Brooke feels betrayed good for once she gets to feel what she puts others in what she inflicts on others and how painful it is she did it to Caroline then Ridge then Stephanie Then Eric and the list goes on and on
For once Brooke was trying to do the right thing !!
Good luck with Morgan Tridge, a woman BROOKE will bring to your lives, and you will pay for what you did, and ironically so will your mother whose life you are "trying to save":
It was so angering to see Taylor stopping Brooke from slapping Ridge. She didn't even let her have that. Her turn will come.
Tridge get through the Morgan incident stronger than ever, though, and Stephanie kicks her psychotic ass, so 😂 nice try.
@@FayeIL Sure, but they got quite a rough up from Morgan, both them b it ches and I enjoyed every minute of it.😈😈
Morgan will make for great television
@@tiroyaonejustinphologolo9763 She was a great addition to the show 👍👍
@@marn25you enjoyed it only because Morgan was Brooke substitute as a troublemaker in Tridge relationship. For once someone else did the dirty job trying to break up the leading couple...
No
Hope there will be more! Is this where Brooke brings Morgan de Witt into show? Please continue vids and show those they are great.
I dont like saint Taylor
A lot of us feel the same way!
