- What makes the classic 911 so special?
A little video trying to describe the mysterious aura surrounding the iconic car, and perhaps even give some tips to existing owners.
Shot entirely with a GoPro. - Авто/Мото
whats with the scares? shit im tryna sleep over here.
Joe Bueno why are you trying a sleepover? With who?
That's from the shit road handling hehehe
After watching this video for about 8 years now i still find myself smiling. Love this one. Still a video i send to all the non Porsche dorks to begin to explain the passion and love behind these incredible cars.
Excellent video with great humor. You just made me miss my Carrera 3.2 which I had for 7 years....sad. The sound of the engine....the sound of the door closing, the smell in the cabin and the 5 round instruments in front of you when you're behind the wheel. Today I'm Porscheless :( But I still remember the chassis number of mine if you wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me. Porsche - Fahren in seiner schönsten Form.
Es ist mein Traumauto ❤️
I LOVE my cherry 82 911SC.When I go out into my garage, I can literally hear it appreciating.
My 83 has been sitting at idle for ten years. Just got bored . Sorry.
I have all sorts of feelings when I think of my sc, the least of which is whether or not it is appreciating.
Thanks for all the positive comments! Really appreciate it! A new video is in the making.
You deserved positive comments... It's not too much artistic but funny :) Well done!
Raymond Linna I love your car. I would love to see more in-car footage from track days even if they are unedited. Do you do maintenance on the car yourself? If so, do you have a lift or do you make do without? Any suggestions for prospective 911 owners? My wife already supports the purchase, so the big hurdle is out of the way ....
joeracer302 Thanks! I have some footage (if I can locate it...), but it'll go into som edit or other, eventually. I do my own maintenance, but no difficult stuff. Just oil change, brake fluid and such. No lift, just jack and jack stands. Buy ASAP! Prices are rising... fast!
Raymond Linna Finishing my MS in mech.eng. this month, getting married (should have said before very-soon-to-be-wife, but that takes too long to type ... plus she already bosses me around like a wife, so she's my wife in all but paper) next month, moving in August ... I think it'll be a minute before I get around to buying another car to play with.
+Raymond Linna
Great job!
better lovestory than twilight
Agree... but then the naked crackheads behind the QuickTrip is also a better lovestory than Twilight.
79 SC, DD 20 yrs, rain, snow, track, autocross, multi-week trips, Banff, Glacier, Yellowstone, Mt Rainier, Yosemite, Laguna Seca, Monterey Historics, well over 120,000 smiles, price appreciation greater than all expenses combined, zero problems. "Nice car" comments at virtually every fill-up. "Beautiful car" comments from middle age women you'd think would never notice. Elderly gentleman almost cries when told "yes, its okay. You can touch it." Childhood dream. Like me. That's what's the big deal.
What's the big deal? 2545 lbs, 204hp, no A/C just pure unadulterated fun... no big deal. Try prying the key from my dead left hand.
people make it look like a big deal so they have something to brag about.
When you drive a 911, bragging is unnecessary.
The 911 is a well renowned sportscar. You don't need tons of HP and AC to have fun. You'd know this if you'd ever driven a 911 - which you obviously havn't. You can enjoy your fries in your refrigerated 'Merican musclecar.
So?? nobody gives a shit about you at all. I'm sorry for being rude, i know it hurts you so bad.
Today my friend takes me for a drive in his 930 in the hills. A perfect video to stumble across! Great tongue in cheek overview! I want one!
your baby’s face in that tunnel was incredible hahahah
Again, thanks guys! The car is a 1981 SC, European spec, 204bhp.
The bike rack is from www.seasucker.com.
+Raymond Linna You need a Porsche bicycle, the cheapest way to own two Porsches ;)
Damn!!
I love the 86 911
Raymond Linna I had the same one but Targa. Best car ever. I wouldn't better describe the feeling 😂 great vid ! Thx
I knew it! I'm not the only one who insists that 911 is a "family car"! Thank you, Sir.
I adore how easy it is to change the window's broken switches (or fix the problem temporarily in seconds by simply replacing the broken one with any other one that works), how simple it is to replace the headlight bulb, the closing door sound, the spartan interior, the decent mileage I get if my foot isn't too heavy...and oh, its feminine and yet aggressive shape when I turn on the neon lights in my garage is always giving me goosebumps... I just came back from Munchen carrying a Classic Porsche radio Navigation System in my arms (never let it down - must've looked crazy) and now I can't wait to see it fitted. My baby is a 1996 911/993 C2 386 bhp. Drive safe
The Recarro seats, the smooth shift, low idle rumble, the feeling of going 30 at 130 . The drift. yeah, I can see the feminine thing. Women like men who ride cycles.
Loved it!! I've got an 83 Targa, black, with the same tail. I can't open the garage without smiling and wanting to drive it. Your kid's eyes in the scary tunnel was great. Well done.
The key being on the left because of LeMans starts is a myth. It was placed there due to engineering/electrical constraints. Good video!
The old 911s have such a special feeling. Ergonomically it's a bit strange initially. They make you work hard to get most out of it unlike modern cars. You have to be smooth and deliberate with the gearchanges, toughen up your arms in the slower turns and know the powerband of the engine. The engine has such a unique mechanical howl that you simply don't get with new cars. They're amazing to drive.
You are so absolutely spot on... I've wanted one for decades and finally bought it a few weeks ago. the "feelgood factor" is exactly what you described. It has to be experienced to be understood :)
I’ve had an 1986 911 for 24 years and have put over 250k kms on it and still smile every time I get into the driver’s seat.
Brilliant, especially loved the bit "when you open the garage door" that's me every time, always makes me smile
I have a deep love for 911's and whenever a friend of mine shows hate, I am shocked to say the least. Rather than me trying to explain with words why I love these cars, I will just show them this video next time. :-)
You hit the nail on the head with these old 911s my 76 is in for paint and chrome and can't wait to get my baby back nice vid☺
Gorgeous video! Thanks! Should be an official Porsche commercial!
Thanks for making me jealous, Raymond. Every time opening that garage door is like a dream barn find. Who needs a wife, I mean house?
did you buy that with meth money?
JR Quijada Haha! Yes, I found that there was a market for a higher quality product. ;-)
It's sad that this comment is at the top, people can't mind their own business.
joke went way over your head apparently
Making a braking bad reference....
i never understood porsches before. but after seeing this, it completely changed my mind on what the car is capable of, and why.
love your humor..love the zeal for you have for the car..and..the baby was cool..especially in the tunnel..you got my sub!
Nice T-shirt. And that's a big grin at 3:42. Someday I'll score my own.
Fabulous video! Love the editing, presentation, and humor.
Excellent.
And yes I totally agree, in fact it's when I take the keys on my hands, I already have a smile on my face, sometimes a grin knowing it will be playful!
This was a lot of fun. Thanks for taking the time to have us laugh while learning about the 911. Have a great day.
Raymond, I totally enjoyed that video! I have an 83 SC and love it! Not my daily driver, but get it out of the garage enough. My 11year old son and I enjoy working on it together and going for long drives. So glad to see you enjoying your car ! Thanks again for the video! Heath
What a great job! Thanks for taking the time to do this!
This is such a nice video! Thank you Raymond!
as a fellow porschephile, i enjoyed the inside humor and candor - cheers!
Great and fun video ! Cheers from Croatia from a 124 Abarth owner but also a Porsche enthusiast
Love the video, the car, Michael's face inside the tunnel...and your sense of humour!!
Brilliant!
Raymond, what a truly excellent, entertaining, and drool producing video. You really should do more of these. I'm in deep in love with classic 911s, the sound, the stance; and yours just looks amazing! It's tempting to blow my savings on one, and to hell with the future!! Thanks once again - just brilliant.
Actually, to buy one is quite the investment these days. The prices are skyrocketing. Better than money in the bank! (Until the bubble bursts...If it's indeed a bubble)
Thanks!
Hey man, i don't know where you live but you got a great sense of humor. i've watched your video quite a few times and always makes me laugh. Good for you, keep it light, it's a blessing. Take care of yourself, family and i hope that your 911 is good to you as well. I have an 84 similar to yours and i love it. Stay well.
Utterly brilliantly… the work of genius. A lovely car too.
A very fun video. I loved when Michael was popping the binkie in and out. His eyes in the tunnel are classic. You obviously know how to use your car correctly. Enjoy it!
Love the video and had a few giggles whilst feeling a bit nostalgic.I had a right hand drive 1980 Minerva Blue 930 in Australia for about 10 years. Drove it to work daily and then to the track on weekends. You really don't know how good these cars are until you own one for a while. Nothing compares. I thought they were a blown up VW but I got one because I loved the shape. Soon realised there wasn't much at all VW-like about it! I now drive a Toyota Landcruiser TD 100 series. Talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous, but I love them both, albeit for different reasons.Get a 911 or better still a 930 if you can. Worth every cent.
You can really tell how this man loves his 911
Best 911 video ever!!!! You checked all the important points why you should own a 911. Congrts & regards
That pasha interior is SICK.
Funny one, I love the 1974 targa my dad sold to me, that thing is so much fun to drive!! I get lot s of thumbs up when cruzing around, great video.
This incredible video is great, lots of it bubbling in truth, naturally passed !! Thanks for sharing!!
I just discovered this video. Well done. Thank you.
Great vids. I love the 911. It's low, fast and so unique. It has my heart.
As a 1978 targa owner I can appreciate every sentiment portrayed in this video .Beautifully told ..
And as you said 'just look at them '
Great video. Makes you love the car so much more.
I have now watched this more than once.
I love this video, I have BMW e46 coupe. I know it's not the same thing in the car world but it was my dream so I share a lot of things you showed in this video...
Really nice video 📹 made for quite literally, Best car ever made.........what legend: The 911.....and it's awesome to know u still maintain the 930......superb
The ignition switch on the left is so you may fasten your seat belt with your right hand while starting the car. You may start the car in gear.
I worked in detailing as a teen, can’t tell you how long I searched for the ignition on a 911 the first time a Porsche rolled in
Raymond, beautiful video/film and beautiful car. Cheers!
Great Video! You're car reminds me of my 1st Porsche, an black 85 Carrera Euro with the 231hp high compression engine. Man I loved this car so much, everything about it just like you said, the smell of the leather, the way the doors latch, the smell the heater boxes make.on a cold day especially. Also I had a 91 964 C2 and I currently have an 06 Cayman S, but something about the simplicity of that one makes me miss it. BTW nice chrome fuchs also, mine had aftermarket bbs wheel which I never really cared for.
Having just recently purchased my first 911 I have watched this video a half dozen times and it cracks me up every time. What is the color of your SC I absolutely love it. Great work!
Just as we passed 70k views and 1k likes on this one - check out my new one.
Thanks to all!
One of the best videos ever and hands down one of my favorites.
Couldn't agree with you more! Excellent and humorous. Thanks for sharing your passion for 911
Great video Raymond. I've a 993 and totally agree with all you say, particularly the bit about "you must drive it the way it was meant to be driven". Keep enjoying your car.
I think it should be said that in retrospect the 911 isn't necessarily a spectacular car on its own, it just stands out as a pure example of a good sports car in an era when there weren't many to be had.
I've got a 1988 Targa with whale tail & you nailed it with "911 feeling". Excitement every time I'm heading over to it with the keys. Props on the Benny Hill throwback..one of my childhood favs, but you needs a few more slaps on the head :).
Right on. My 1969 911E had all those things and more. Wish I still had it. The 458 is nice though.
That’s a commonly held myth, the only reason the ignition is on the left is because Dr. Porsche was left-handed and that’s where he preferred his ignition. If you look at Porsche number one, years before they did any racing, you will see the ignition on the left. The other thing is if you’ve ever done a running, start racing, you leave the car in first gear, so it doesn’t matter which hand you start. All you do is turn the key and dump the clutch.
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing!
I recently fell in love with the 911. this only fanned the flame. great video!!
You should check out Ammo NYC. He has a few videos on his beautiful 911.
This video gave me a really good smile and I truly enjoyed it
Excellent Raymond, a long life dream to own a 911. enjoy
Great video, this is the 911 in all his versatile ways. Thanks for post it... and good luck!
I would lose my hair to drive a 911 like yours.
Awesome Video!!!!Congratulation!!!Makes me love the 911 even more!!!
Great little 911 video, funny and insightful.
Mad me laugh on a night-shift - thanks mate!
Great video. We will be sharing on our social media channel. Thanks.
Great video! You made me want an old 911 now!!
Hey Raymond ( a.k.a. moby ;) great video dude 10/10, put a smile on my dial & made me appreciate my own Porsche just that little bit more ( 1983 SC convertible ) keep living the dream & safe motoring....looking forward to your next post mate....Greetings from Australia !
Great video indeed. I appreciate the sense of humour and the 911. Love it. Thanks
Great video, superb editing, with practical dad jokes splashed in.
I very much enjoyed it.
Love it! you just forgot to tell that a Porsche does not leak oil, it marks his territory
Cool! I agree! But don't forget the FUCHS rims. Your SC has extremely nice ones.
Another plus. Like Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs there is a lot of parts interchangeability between generations. My '73 has '89 turbo brakes, a later transmission (915?), 3.0 liter dual plug and a bunch of GT3 suspension parts. Everything was pretty much bolt in. And like the small block Chevy, the Porsche air cooled flat 6 (other than the 2.7) is bullet proof and with proper care can go hundreds of thousands of miles.
Raymond awesome video ... thank you!
Awesome video....every Porsche owner should make one.
This is one of the "BEST" videos on RUclips!
very endearing video; I drive a Cayman S personally, but the pleasure is definitely derivative of the Carerra's legacy
Great short movie about the 911! Here in germany I see the new ones so often and sometimes an old one. It´s such a special feeling when a porsche 911 comes along. :) So nice to see that you seem to be happy with your car! =)
Great video man - it's funny and does highlight some of the reasons why people love 911s.
That 'Benny Hill' music at the end was a corker! The whole video was SO well put together. Kudos!
LOL! excellent video! I always wondered what that ticking sound was - i figured it was something with the clock but what exactly, no clue - keeps excellent time btw. Oh, and thanks for that tip about the guages - think i'll wait till i get the Momo wheel ;)
Im all smiles watching. Thank u😊
This is great! 911s are a different breed of car altogether.
NS Freeride bike, and a 911 turbo, you sir, got your priorities right!
You made my day with this video
So hilarious! loved this video!
Just bought a 944 a couple weeks ago (im 17) sold my miata the same day to buy it haha! really love this car the way it makes you feel and when it comes alive in 3500rpm is just amazing! being able to drive so fast around corners is the most amazing feeling ever and the people love the car and are always asking questions haha!
My first Porsche was a white 1984 944, and now it's a white 1984 3.2 Carrera. You will end up the same way - once bitten, totally smitten!
Gio Verde I ended up selling the 944 and I got a turbo mr2 sold that and I have a 350z next time I own a Porsche its gonna be a turbo 944 or a 911
Josue Garcia
Haha I was first looking at the MR2 before a 944. Hope you get your 911, but trust me normally aspirated 911 is out of this world, so a turbo would be 'out of this universe' Good luck and look well
Thank you sir! and to you too!
Josue Garcia 😉
This was pretty great, nice work.
the ignition is not on the left so you can "start the car while engaging first gear", but so you can start the car while jumping into the seat! You put the correct image up but not the right text.
Both you and that Singer dude are making me want a 911..
just great man! Nice 930 too!
