Australian here, yep US remake of Friday Night Dinners...which was a very good show. Will the US version be as good? Time will tell.

It is a remake. And like all US remakes, it looks shite.
Like most US remakes, will end up in the bin. Adapted for a sensitive, heavily religious audience. There'll be little/no swears or you'll be burned in hell! I can already hear the Dad saying "Turd on it!" instead of "Shit on it!" 😅
I'm more worried about the current US remake of 1930s Germany than the remake of this show

Okay having seen the trailer I have little to no hope for this series but I will still give it a chance when it airs.
Quite often, these US remakes of UK classics never make it past 1 season, just look at their version of Inbetweeners.
I see a lot of people talking about Daniel Thrasher, I'd never heard of him before. I only recognised Carol Kane and even then I only recognised her face.
If this is heavily adapted for American audiences I can only see this going one way, in the bin!

I'm destroying the 169 comments to say that this may not be a masterpiece, but I'd watch it for fun. Daniel being there is a definite bonus. Edit: Just realised this is releasing one day after my birthday. Last year, I got a Roomie song as a 'present'.

I will try this show out. If anything, it made me aware of a foreign show I might try out as well (usually originals are better). Hopefully it will be like The Office, where it will be able to stan on its own.

The original British one is great! This looks very safe comparatively, which is often the way American remakes go. The US versions of both Shameless and The Office like you said were great too tho.
