If you really want to help the poor. Make more housing, that lowers rent, have more producers of food than corporations controlling prices and produce more, that lowers the cost for food, make more jobs than there are people, that raises wage, although raising wage isn’t strictly necessary if you can make things cheaper. If you just artificially raise wage (which essentially all UBI and minimum wage is, it just makes everything more expensive as youve kept the supply the same but increased the demand.
