It’s odd how Wilson did that willingly. The way I interpret the story is Maxwell didn’t want people to be dragged in, I interpreted it as the work of “Them”. The reason why I think its that way is because of how persistent he is in stopping Wilson from freeing him, considering that he talks about how much he enjoys being free it’s not like he wanted to remain on the throne. He just didn’t want others to befall the fate he ended up with.

i got excited about the new characters then I realized this isn't don't starve...
I think it actually, technically, is, but it’s another spin-off, but I think this one’s being handled by a different company.
Best to let them at least try. Worst cast scenario, they learn new ways to improve the version of Don’t Starve you play.

I feel like its weird because Wilson would be actively looking for suicide because he saw Maxwell turn in to a skeleton and Maxwell never explained to him that he didn't actually die.

Sure, but death in the Constant is more of a temporary affair anyway. Even if being surpassed as ruler of the Constant lead to permanent death, at least that is *some* kind of escape from eternal torment.
So I presume this takes after the events of the original base game, rather than dst? In an alternate reality where Charlie peaced and Wilson pulled a 5 head manuevre
Since we don't know if in the end of the game Wilson will be free, it could just take place between ds and dst, while waiting to be freed by Charlie

In the end of ds, maxwell died after getting replaced by wilson, who is now trapped to the chair so he did the same thing that maxwell did, summon people from the real world to replace him, which is ironic since wilson thought maxwell is evil for doing so, and now these people will also think wilson is evil for the same reason but when they replace him they will do the same thing and so an infinite cycle continues. Almost like how in dark souls people use their life to keep the flame on and the lord of cinder always changes throughout eternity.

So I guess we have 2 different cannon now, we have the DST timeline and DSNH timeline. One where Charlie frees Wilson, and one where Wilson becomes evil.
Or maybe it's what happens in-between.

FUN FACT:
There are two alternate outcomes to after Wilson takes the throne, either the plot of this trailer, starting Newhome, or Charlie taking the throne, staring off Don't Starve Together.
Shengqu seems to have a reliable background in terms of what ive seen and, i think, played from them. Considering it's a mobile game however, this could go either way.
Mobile game screams cashgrab, and their abuse of Wilson screams cashgrab. Wilson has already lived in the constant long enough to not snatch people unless canon is to be ignored because fuck story.

But even so, Wilson needed a blueprint to create that portal, cause otherwise why didn't he create that portal before to get out of the Constant?
I just hope it's good. I'm a HUGE fan of Klei's Don't Starve. Seeing it be held in another company's hands is a little effy... Just hope it'll do Klei proud. Mobile or not.

@DekusBf I mean, it's a survival game. Unless you are gonna play PVP, it doesn't matter that much. I am playing the beta version and apparently the only thing that is gonna be bought with real money are cosmetics and some elemental weapons (but you can still get them for free via spools or elemental altar crafting with fragments).

Those wondering. I’m pretty sure this is the Chinese release. They didn’t want to censor the original game for the Chinese market, so they made a whole new game. Which is actually very cool, props to them for doing so.
Edit: My bad. This is a lore focused game. Unlike original game that is survival focused.

So here's the thing. I'm working on a huge overhaul mod for DST which is heavily inspired by both Shipwrecked and Hamlet (also includes a lot of mobs and items from them as well) and how I'm going about this is using it for research purposes. The game looks promising but will very likely be a huge disappointment, but I'm sure there's a lot of good ideas being presented here. So I'll recycle it into my mod as well.
Don't expect the mod to be out anytime soon however. It's only in the research and ideas phase.

I really hope this gets a PC release and isn't left to waste away on the app store.
The new characters look awesome, the graphics seemed to be tweaked up since DST, and above all, we have some awesome new crafting options that seemed to be geared more towards permanent residence in the constant, not just surviving in it. There's so much awesome potential here, it would be a damn shame if it was all wasted on a phone only game...

The characters art style of klei is so simple: pure white eyes or just dot eye , simple clothes, simple face, simple hair , charachters only contain 2-3 colors i guest,
And this newhome opposites it: the characters has some design in there eye like makeup, there hair is complicated, there clothes are not much like at the same world where wilson and other characters came before they go to the constant.
In my own Conclusion: This people came from another period of time or not even in the same world where all the other characters came from.
