Cheers to moms! Thanks for the cloth bag, Constance. It's a great home for the zipper tape, while it's waiting to be sewn into project bags. :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Another great video, ladies. Your finishes and wips are stunning. Thank you so much for sharing another wonderful video and thank you so much for all the inspiration.
Love your video as always. I finally couldn’t resist anymore and I bought the scarlet berries. I will personalize the initials of our families with their favorite colors so each child, brother , brother and sister in law, parents will be represented by their initials in their favorite color
I hope you enjoy "Scarlet Berries" as much as I have. I like the idea of favorite colors! I think I'm going to stitch my granddaughter's initials in yellow (her favorite). Happy Crafting, Jocelyne! -Anna
Thanks, Robyn! Always appreciate your ideas and support. We love seeing what you're up to as well - your "GBH 1848" finish is spectacular! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Fred & Fred came out beautifully!! I think I'm going to have to try send them one of my pieces too, after seeing how well yours came out! I hope you're enjoying the sunshine!
Fred and Fred - love this new nickname for the pair! I've already sent another piece to L & M. They are taking a break this summer and are asking folks to send before March 31 unless you want to wait for the fall. We had the screen door open this weekend - love the fresh air! Hope to see you soon, Olivia! Happy Crafting! Have you been stitching on your houses? -Anna
Love the story about naming the birds - rich legacy and we share that in our family too. We did not do Barbies, TV, etc. and my grown children and grands are such interesting people, as are you. Happy time change! hugs
Thanks ladies for another great episode, fun to see how you girls process and stitch, I’m in Anna’s camp, I save the infrastructure for the last and I’m an AIDA stitcher, can’t even imagine counting out 300 something stitches on linen, I did learn though on those long stitch stretches to do a full x stitch every 10 stitches, GENIUS! Thank you
I'm stitching a long stretch now on a new piece and am trying the 9 half stitches and one full stitch method - I'm liking it! Happy Crafting, Trish! -Anna
Great to have a visit with you two! I'm so happy that you're going to look into the hem stitch. It's a finish that I want to do but I've been chicken to cut and pull my threads. Hope you show us how. I'm glad you both had good trips with your families. It's always fun to see the grandchildren! Thanks for taking the time for your channel!
Great to have you stop by, Doreen! I know it's going to be hard for me to pull the first threads when I try the hem stitch. I'm going to try it on a little Christmas piece I stitched a few years ago. Happy Crafting! -Anna
What the Flock? That WAS a lot of finishes! And I loved seeing all of them. Both of you do such beautiful work. I loved seeing your mother--that was precious! As always, thank you for taking the time to share your love of the craft.
Love your videos. It makes me think about my crafting and I have been inspired to use from stash. Sending a note to my stitch group to make sure they all know about you. Thanks for sharing.
How I love your videos!!! Carolyn, I would love a tutorial on your finishing techniques. I, too, had a great experience with L & M Framing. The birds are stunning. Thank you for sharing!!!
We want to include a note on the back of each bird and then send them to our sister Joan, who will take them to our family farm. I've already sent another piece to L & M - haha! Happy Crafting, Sarah! Hope to see you soon! -Anna
Frederick and Fredericka look fantastic, what a wonderful gift!! And I love all the matrilineal heritage as well - two different approaches, but both really interesting. I can't speak to later marking samplers but in the 17th century they were just hemstitched and rolled up. Not all band samplers are highly decorative - some are very letter focused and clearly more focused on teaching girls to properly mark household linen.
Thanks for this nugget of information, Katie! That's what I think Carolyn should do. When I was on the East Coast in February I went to the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center. One of the items that captivated me was a simple white towel with personalization and motifs in a gorgeous shade of red. I thought to myself, "I know a marking sampler came before this beauty." Happy Crafting! -Anna
Thank you so much Carolyn for offering to do a tutorial on your finishing. Your edges and corners look so wonderful compared to mine. I need to improve and as a teacher I feel you have the skills to instruct us well🤞❤
Such an enjoyable Friday morning for me….thank you! Wow, what a lot of beautiful finishes you have. I am stitching the MFE/Roxy Floss Salentine and have stitched the “Infrastructure” too. Moving on to the really fun fill in soon. And speaking of designing our own projects (like Carolyn’s marking sampler), I’m stitching the University of South Dakota seal as a graduation gift for one of my daughters. It’s not the easiest task but I’ll get there.
Hi Clare! You infrastructure folks are making me want to try that technique on a piece! Enjoy the fill in! So cool to hear about the graduation gift you're working on - I'm sure it will be very meaningful to your daughter. Happy Crafting! -Anna
MFE Hold on to your socks pattern is just beautiful and definitely a purchase for me when your flosstube is over. You are both soo much fun to watch 😊❤
Hello Ladies! I so enjoyed your video late on this Friday night! Great finishes and wonderful framing jobs! Loved the picture with your mother too! 🥰 I stitched a partial “ infrastructure“ on my “Four and Twenty Blackbirds” before I went to my last Sat’s stitch day. Just enjoyed the fill stitches. 😊 Have a great stitchy week ahead! 🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦🌺
I was amazed at all the infrastructure Carolyn had done. I hope yours worked well for you and that you had a great stitching weekend! Happy Crafting, Marilyn! -Anna
Another fun time with you gals. Loved hearing about your vacations. Glad you are both back safely. All the stitchings were beautiful. Loved seeing the framed pieces. They looked amazing. The picture of you with your mom was great. I can certainly see the resemblance. Her sweater reminded me of the Quaker designs you both love. Did one of you make it for her? Thanks for all the hard work it takes to prepare and present. Happy stitching in the weeks til we meet again. ❤, Donna
We're so happy to introduce everyone to our mom, Donna! Her sweater was store bought. She did knit (and sewed and quilted) a lot over the years. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Well this is "Ron", Becky's neighbor. Very nice to hear the shout out for Becky, and me of course. You girls are very talented. Beautiful work. now I have 2 drinking games and videos! Very good..
How fantastic! Thank you for the toast! It's Ron's world and we are just living in it. :-) I'm sure I'll get out your way. I have a bestie who moved out there and I so want to go to Needle and a hay stack. My hubby was out there this weekend!
I think you would love the little quilt store in my sister's neighborhood! Always plenty that catches my eye when I visit! Happy Crafting, Tracey! -Anna
Oh I agree! When I teach music theory I make an idiot of myself…they are laughing during a theory lesson and recall the info with much less stress. Fantastic framed pieces and the created sampler is inspiring. Jacob did not suggest backing the hem stitched pieces but I think it may depend on how you are planning to use it…the piece can still be framed and you may or may not want a more solid affect to the open space. If used as a runner, my grandmother did not back anything .
Carolyn, there is a great book on hemstitching by Marion Scoular. It is, ironically enough, called Hemstitching. I purchased this direct from Marion a few years ago.
You, ladies are one of my favorite channels! Love everything that you share! Would you share what you eat in a day? You both look so good and would love to know how you do it!
Thank you for watching and for your comment! Anna and I both have our builds naturally. I have enjoyed the "Noom" system, which has helped me think through the nutritional values of different food. I hope this is helpful! Happy Stitching! -Carolyn
I think that your sweaters look great together- and to my eyes, they match Frederick and Frederica. Love the photo with you both with your mother. I am no expert on marking samplers, but I think I heard somewhere that they were unlined and folded up in a work basket. On hem stitching - I have a very old little book - Linen Stitches by Ginnie Thompson, published in 1987 - she has a section on hem stitching - I don’t know if it’s still available.
It was a special experience to present the birds to our mom! Thanks for the book recommendation, Trudy. Looks like it's available on the secondary market. I'll be sure Carolyn sees this. Happy Crafting! -Anna
houses of HRH is the first time I’ve heard of HRH blocks being less than 92x92. Surprised me! I’ve stitched 3 and did half stitches every 9 followed by a blank or a full x stitch.
I'm just trying that technique (9 half stitches and 1 full stitch) now, on the border of "Marvel Not..." It's really helping me count! Happy Crafting, Angela! -Anna
Your finishes are beautiful. Regarding L&M framing…did you send your needlework to them without an idea of the frame and pricing? That would be difficult for me, but your results were fabulous. I look forward to the finishing tutorial. My corners are always wonky and I’d like to see how to stitch the line in the fabric for lacing. The fruits of plenty architecture approach worked for me on a smaller scale with Cardinal Points by Long Dog. I found I could stitch with more confidence and faster because I didn’t have to count as much with the internal/pattern stitching.
Carolyn and I had some ideas about how we wanted the birds framed. I was so curious about the process of working with a framer like L & M that I finally just decided - we're going for it! After hearing about people's experiences with stitching infrastructure first, I'm being swayed towards trying it myself! Glad it worked well for you. Happy Crafting, Becky! -Anna
I am a Pennsylvania German! My mother’s family is from the Bedford area. I also live in California. I will definitely look for the Pennsylvania German sampler book.
Carolyn was wearing the Natsumi sweater designed by Yoko Hatta and I was wearing the Ranunculus sweater designed by Midori Hirose - both knit by Carolyn. Happy Crafting, Delores! -Anna

A sleeper is also an unassuming car from outside appearance but hiding a 454 under the hood (not that I would know). A must for scofflaws. Vroom 🏎️ 🚓🚓🚓🚓
Your bird finishes were stunning! So tasteful, letting the stitch piece shine! Love you ladies! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Rhonda! You may have been able to see that Carolyn and I are feeling great about those two birds! Happy Crafting! -Anna
You Girls are a FORCE!! So inspiring, thank you
Thanks, Jesse! Happy Crafting! -Anna
Another great flosstube ladies! The shout out to Becky was awesome!
AKA Becky’s Mom! And your Mother is adorable!
Cheers to moms! Thanks for the cloth bag, Constance. It's a great home for the zipper tape, while it's waiting to be sewn into project bags. :) Happy Crafting! -Anna
Love your videos - I could stitch everything you two are stitching as I love all of your project. Thanks for sharing you work.
Thanks, Peg! I feel that way about some FlossTubers I watch as well. It's like an instant connection! Happy Crafting! -Anna
What a flockin fiesta that was! Finishes looked amazing, you guys are like pros now. Thank you for my dose of ahhh.❤️Diana
Haha! It did feel like a party! Happy Crafting, Diana! -Anna
I love your sweaters, what knitting talent you have. You two look like sweater models. Love your FFO's! Beautifully stitched and finished! ❤
Thanks, Jenny! Carolyn wears a hand knit almost every day - amazing! Happy Crafting! -Anna

I look forward to your RUclips’s. Love your style and easy going and fun personalities
So nice of you to say, Louise. Thank you. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Love the story about naming the birds - rich legacy and we share that in our family too. We did not do Barbies, TV, etc. and my grown children and grands are such interesting people, as are you. Happy time change! hugs
And I still like to identify birds! I absolutely love being outside with my grandchildren. Happy Crafting, Kathie! -Anna

And I think it's so cool that Carolyn is going to use it as a tool, truly as a marking sampler. Happy Crafting! -Anna

Good afternoon 🌞 you ladies have done a fantastic work. By the way did you make your sweaters 🎉❤
Hi Cynthia! Carolyn made both of the sweaters! She wears a hand knit almost every day. Happy Crafting! -Anna
you could iron interfacing on back of the sampler that you are going to do hem stitch finisih.
Thanks for the idea, Angela. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Do you mind telling me the pattern names for both sweaters you all are wearing. They are beautiful. Thanks in advance, Delores
