I have searched for my unicorns but I could not afford a lot of the prices they wanted. Instead, I went through my stash and fell in love again with what I had. I'm both a process stitcher and I think a collector. I'm working through my collection now stitching what I have. One thing you didn't mention is the " if I don't get it now, will it be out of print later?" Thought process. I now use the " if I stitch this, do I want to pay for framing and do I want it hanging in my home?" That has helped me greatly! I applaud those that are willing and can pay for what they love !
I agree - a lot of these patterns would be fun to stitch but I wouldnt really want them on my walls. The ones I would want, well that's a different story! 💚 Thank you for sharing 💚
The woman who owned/ designed for The Primitive Needle was killed in an auto accident (really tragic). Her family opted (rightfully so) to not continue publishing her charts. Extremely talented, and highly sought-after… I myself have paid a pretty penny for Mirabilia’s “Santa’s Magic”, however, the linen was included (which I gave to my friend, I don’t stitch on linen). I also paid a LOT for Blackbird Designs’ “My Missouri Home” and “America”, and Birds of a Feather’s “All Hallows Night”. Those last 3 were on a Destash page and I did not realize what the Blackbird Charts were going for when I said “me please”. I could have gone back and taken my name off… however, I realize it was an investment in my hobby. No regrets. Nora Corbett and Mirabilia are one and the same. When Nora divorced her husband he got to retain the rights to the name Mirabilia, so she began releasing designs under her own name. She is now back to designing for both companies. The Philanthropic Pumpkin was sold as a kit, was not mass-released, and sold as a fund raiser for Special Olympics (their son participates in the games). However many that were made were all that were sold. This has been FASCINATING!! 💲💰💵💸💸💵💰💲
Do you know who inherited the rights to Nora’s mother’s (Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum aka Lavender & Lace) work? I put in an order for Santa of the Forest to a LNS, and the store owner stated whoever inherited her work is very slow about printing the charts and that it’s an “industry wide problem”. So, my order is “backordered” indefinitely, along with dozens of other people. Can anyone shine light on this?
@@luvslyfe1 I do not know. It may have been Nora and her sister Mary (who is also an artist). I DO know I’ve been able to find several L&L pieces along with Butternut Road and Told in a Garden (all by Marilyn Levitt-Imblum) at my LNS! Destash groups and sites such as Cobweb Corner all carry charts that are sometimes hard to get. I also put it out there on those groups if I’m searching for a chart, as there ARE cross stitchers out there that love to help out with Unicorn charts by either selling outright or lending. Hope this helps!! I had replied to your question before, however, I no longer see my response!! 😕🤔🤔
I paid $250 for a limited edition, signed/numbered design by Teresa Wentzler called “You were hatched…”. It is one of her dragon designs that is only available on the secondary market. I justified it as a birthday present a couple of years ago.
I am currently stitching Lady of the Flag. I got it from a sweet lady for free. She gave it to me as my sons were both military. My older served 3 tours in Iraq and was military for 14 years. My youngest son is retiring this year after 20 years in the military he has been to Afghanistan 3 tours, S Korea 3 times for a full year each time. This will be his retirement gift. He is very patriotic. Eventually I will stitch Lady of the Flag again for myself but in the blue color way. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing! I think stitching a different colorway the second time is a great way to get even more enjoyment out of such a special piece. 💚💚
For those who are looking to add cross-stitch patterns to their stash, I have found hundreds of them over the years at a local charity thrift store. I do see some at the national chain thrift stores, such as Goodwill, but by far the biggest selection comes from the private, small thrift stores in my area. I even find complete cross-stitch kits, kits for crewel, printed quilt blocks, vintage iron-on embroidery designs, soft-doll making patterns and other needlework items - for very little money. Most patterns are no more than $1 apiece, but I think I have seen some complete kits for up to $10.
Awesome video. I have stitched lady of the flag and it’s HUGE! And gorgeous. Took me 6 months of monogamous stitching to complete. I sold my chart several years ago and I think it was around $100 then. I got to go to market once in 2003 which was awesome. I sold a lot of stash over the years but lost alot of what I had left to hurricane Michael in 2018 which destroyed my house. Thankfully LOTF was saved without any damage, we are safe and rebuilt. And all is good. 😊
❤$ I loved all the info!! It took a lot of time to research this!! Thank you! I’ve been a cross-stitcher for almost 50 years and I am going to have to start going through some of my stash to see just how many of the patterns I have!! I can’t wait to tell my kids that they will have a good inheritance!😂
Very interesting! The prices for some of those charts were pretty fantastic! Not something I would choose to do but other hobbies can be much more expensive, so there is that.
$ wow!!! I don’t look for out of print charts so this took me by surprise. It is personal and I’m sure emotional. Not sure I need to look beyond the current charts at this point. There are many to choose from!
This was such an interesting idea for a video. Even though I’d never spend that much on a pattern, it was so fun to hear and see what others might invest in! Thank you!
I heard about this video when it was mentioned by the Hathaway Stitchers. I have recently returned to cross stitch after a number of years. I previously worked in a sewing shop where the only place to buy charts and kits was from a shop or a craft show. Imagine my surprise when this time around I discovered Flosstube, and the facility to buy and download patterns off Etsy instantaneously. I have spent a small fortune. However it was doubly ironic as I was looking at some Mirabilia patterns deciding what to send to charity. I have both Christmas Elegance and Lady of the flag, as well as Sleeping Beauty and a stone statue. They certainly look more attractive to me now.
I was desperate to get Blackbird’s Octopus’ Garden. I tracked it on Ebay for over 8 months. It ranged from $40 -$80. Then all of a sudden it dropped to $14! I jumped on it thinking I got such a great deal. A few days later I discovered that it had been re-released. I’m glad I waited. It was selling on 123 Stitch for $9.
💲💲I did lots of complex Eva Rosenstadt kits in my youth. I can't believe the prices some of these simple designs fetch. I could just look at many of them and stitch them up. I have a booklet with samples of all DMC flosses, so even color matching would be a breeze. My grandmother was that way with crochet. I could show her a picture and she would make it for me.
🤑 $27 is the most I’ve ever spent on a “pattern” but it was actually a pattern book with 9 patterns in it. Twin Peaks Primitives Gothic Halloween 2023. And I bought two, one for me and one for a friend. Also. Allison’s faces were amazing this whole video.
What an interesting flosstube subject!! I have several of the ones listed but I paid retail for them! Benefit of having been a stitcher for the last 4 decades 😉 Happy Stitching!!
Yes! I wonder what I would have bought (and not bought) if I'd discovered stitching sooner. Fun to see what experienced stitchers value and have kitted up!
My opinion…craziness!! If you didn’t see it you never would know it was available. On the other hand, I paid $100 for E S Spot sampler and now 1884 Stitchery has the rights to reprint it for $18. Did sell this before 1884 had it, for $45 so some Monies were recovered. Btw I’ve yet to stitch it😂. Peaceful Paradise is listed available at The Attic in Mesa, AZ. Fun listing you put together👏👏
I honestly would NOT have thought some of these were SO expensive! I bought TigerLily when it first came out, it was my first Nora Corbett (I was a Mirabilia exclusive stitcher for years) and since I live in Saskatchewan I wanted to do this one. I have it on my list to do this year so I guess I should pass the pattern when i'm done ;) I think the most I have ever paid so far has been $30CND
Yes, I think someone might want the pattern when you're finished with it! I had no idea it was the #1 before researching this. Thank you for watching and sharing!
Thanks for the video. As someone who's been stitching for 50+ years I found it very interesting. I have never paid more than $30 for a pattern only. Kits are another story.
I passed over your video then went back , I've been stitching for 45 or so years . I would love to stitch Lady of the Flag, but will never pay that price
Very interesting.... thanks for the shout-out...the "Peaceful Paradise" stitched version is from my needle as I am the Blacksheep... when I finished I knew it was valuable and OOP as I had it in my stash for years before I got around to it... I just passed it on to another stitcher for whom this was her unicorn... keep up the great videos ladies!!!!!
Your finish is so beautiful! I didn't understand the pattern's appeal from the cover but I did when I found your website. Thank you for sharing your stitching with the world!
This was an hour spent well. I really enjoyed seeing the insane stuff that's out there!! My unicorn is The Birds of a Feather nativity. I would love to "borrow" that and stitch it promptly. LOVE it!! It's my true aesthetic! (I know not everyone's cup of tea...) This is my first floss tube of yours and I really liked it!!! Thanks for sharing!
Just a few months ago, I paid $90 for a rare OOP Workbasket pattern. Original price was $10. This was actually a good deal. I’ve seen some go for twice as much. I can say it was worth it. It is one of my WIPs now.
Pam of Just Keep Stitchin’ has stitched a few of those expensive Black Bird and Birds Of A Feather patterns. That’s where y’all have probably seen them. Very cute but…💸. Great video, very eye opening!
Great topic! I have a lot of patterns given to me and have downloaded some too. The only bummer about being given patterns, you don’t get to pick something that you really want to stitch. (Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for the thoughtfulness.)
I don’t understand why the companies who sell these patterns stop selling them if people still want to stitch them. I understand if the company is no longer in business.
Scarcity drives demand! I’ve seen where Mirabilia patterns have gone OOP and there’s a rush for her other patterns “just in case”. They’re missing sales on the one pattern, but driving sales on the others. Would demand be as high on the OOP pattern if it was still in print? Or is exclusivity part of the allure…
@@JarannananaNora Corbett has gone on record saying she likes seeing the demand for her OOP patterns! I'd probably get a great boost to my ego too if I saw my work selling for lots of money!
Girls, don't worry so much about offending people. We don't feel judged, it's ok. I'm anxiously awaiting for you to show the expensive patterns. BTW, love the "Quilt Bitchin" too funny!
I was confused when I didn't hear Tigerlily being mentioned. Turns out it was #1 😵. Nora Corbett has a free dragonfly pattern from the retreat in 2018.
the hands on design was a limited edition that the proceeds went to special olympics. We crashed the site when they went up for sale and was sold out in just a minute or two if I recall.
Came across your channel last night. Thoroughly enjoyed that discussion; it was so interesting - I recognised so many of the patterns from other Flosstubers eg the Hygge stitcher is doing the NC fairies. I was fascinated! All the best Claire $
I think the most expensive I've ever bought was the Long Dog Samplers book. I bought Violet and Tigerlily from a local auction site for NZD$20 each. I already had Tigerlily so traded it for Emerald Dragonfly, and got Silver for US$65. So it's worth looking locally if you are outside of the USA. Ida Mae and her companion Ray are my unicorns. ❤ p.s. I have over half of these 😂
$12 is the highest I have spent on a pattern. I liked the center square (witches over the cauldron) from the Halloween at Hawkrun Hallow. But seeing as how that was the only part that I really liked I couldn’t justify to myself paying $37 for just that portion. It’s a huge pattern, if I loved the whole thing I would have paid it. But not just for one square.
I have just come back to Crosstitch after a 20 year hiatus. This was fascinating! I do not like samplers, and I am halfway through the video, so I probably would not have paid any dollars for these patterns. I am really liking the newer designs From Cherry Hill stitchery that you can get done fairly quickly. When I downsized to my current condo I got rid of a lot of old crust stitch pamphlets. I am really kicking myself that I got rid of some shepherds bush books! One of them dated back to the 1990s and the designs would still be perfectly applicable today! Kick myself, kick myself, kick myself. And just to show you how cheap I am, I recently purchased on Amazon, an old Jeremiah Junction, booklet of log cabin designs. Seven dollars with tax! 😂❤
I found your channel with this video and what fun! I think you will find that the Salt Box Stitcher has stitched quite a few of the Loose Feathers patterns. She apparently purchased them years ago and only got around to stitching some of them in the last couple of years. Finished they look great. Keep up the good work!
One of the most expensive eastern-European designers right now is Sventana, one of her pdf patterns reach ~126 dollars, it’s 11 450 Rubbles, which for some people are their whole monthly salary. She has her own website
How fun!! Great idea. Thanks so much for doing that. Made me feel a lot less bad about how much I spend in one trip to the LNS! 😂 Definitely mentioning this on my next flosstube!
💰💵💸💲 That was so fun and a lot of research! The most I have spent is on a Hands Across the Sea but I would love the Freedom and Peace Mira’s. I know now what to look for in our retirement community stash sales❣️‼️
Y'all appeared in my RUclips home page and this title definitely caught my attention. I'm a newer stitcher so I just can't imagine paying these prices...and, Allison, your face was way more tame than mine during Stephanie's pattern/price reveals. I'll have to make sure to put some notes in with my patterns so whoever goes through my stuff when I die knows not to just toss all my cross stitch supplies...or "investments" as the Sunshine Stitchers say. ha. Anyway, great video and I'm now a new subscriber. Oh, and $.
Yes, make sure people know what they're finding! I need to get a little more organized in case anyone else needs to go through my stash. Welcome! So glad we found each other. 💚💚
Thank you both for a fascinating Flosstube. I definitely don't think I'd pay lots for a chart when there are so many beautiful patterns out there, but never say never! My most expensive chart is a recent purchase, 'A Unicorn, a Peacock, A Badger' which is going to be my birthday start if it arrives in the UK in time. It cost $32.89 from 123Stitch. I think it will take a long time to stitch this beautiful full coverage piece so I think it's worth it, and I love the fact it's based on an antique piece. I will often opt for PDF to save on shipping where possible. 💗
$$$ These prices are wild. I will say that I just paid $110 for an out of print Unicorn of mine. But that was a full kit and I’ll be using the kit materials. It is the Dimensions Santa Stamp. I’ve had an eBay search saved for 9 months and finally just made an offer on one. I offered $40 less than asking and got it. So definitely worth trying.
Ooh I love that kit! I can't remember if it was in our most expensive kits video, but I know a few Dimensions Christmas ones made it. Glad you got it! ❤️
The most I’ve paid for a pattern was $60. I wanted all of the Mirabilia OOP mermaids. My best deal was finding Mirabilia Queen of Peace at a shop for $18. That was a once in a lifetime find.
Oh wow that's so cool! Waiting for Ships is the only OOP Mirabilia mermaid that I have. I love her so much. I have the fabric but haven't picked a start date.
The most I have paid for some patterns: $113.68 (price with shipping) for my unicorn of Teresa Wentzler's You Were Hatched. This was a limited edition design of only 1000 copies that she signed. I paid $80 for a Bendy Stitchy Auction for charity for Brenda Gervais Birds of a Feather. I paid $50 for a Primitive Needle Halloween Game Board and $25 each for a few Prairie Moon charts. I would love to get the Primitive Needle Witches Hollow to stitch - that is my new Unicorn!
Those Primitive Needles pop up every once in a while but the prices break my brain. One day I want to stich one of them, but I need to decide which one. Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
I am so glad you popped up! So tickled you did this and took the time to research!. Lastly, I'm really looking forward to this content! For me personally, I've stitched 50 years and have hundreds of patterns, mostly older but during the Pandemic went crazy over the new designers, love, love, love! But I don't think I'd sink a huge $ on a paper pattern. I am on a fixed income so that factors in.
💸I’m new to the yarn game - picked up crocheting with a side of stabbing therapy (felting), but guessing the algorithm thought “close enough!” Really interesting, too!
Just found your podcast and thanks for sharing and some of those patterns I have and how can people really sale them so high when they didn’t pay that amount $$
Most spent for me is $88 for Ella Vaughn. I didn't know the Philanthropic Pumpkin was so valuable. I did get lucky enough to snag the kit when it was sold. Have it just sitting with my finished charts!
I think the most I've paid for a pattern (not a kit) was about $30. Can't imagine paying hundreds even if I love it because I already have so many waiting to be stitched. Fascinating. Thanks for that.
this was really interesting to see! personally the most i think i spend is 20$ for a pattern, which were all full coverage ones. I had no idea some patterns were that expensive on the secondary market! But then again i've only been back to crossstitch for about 2 years haha.
Fascinating topic! Haven't seen any other similar videos out there on flosstube. Can't wait to see what you do next. I don't see myself ever paying hundreds of dollars for a cross stitch pattern. To each their own! $
Fun video! The most I’ve ever paid is $25. The most I’d ever pay is probably $100 if it was truly important to me. Right now I can’t imagine what that might be. Economics 101, something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. 💵💵
I spent somewhere around $25-$30 for The New Normal by Long Dog Samplers that I'm still working on 3 years later. I'm a fairly new crosstitcher so this was a fascinating dive into the pattern world!
$ I am a really frugal stitcher, I use CXC instead of DMC FOR example so could never spend those amounts...there are so many beautiful patterns out there, even freebies, I can't imagine ever needing to outlay so much. 😊✌🇬🇧
I've only been stitching for two years and have only bought patterns available in the shops. These all look beautiful and I can see why people would purchase. I'm in my 60's so I can totally see buying an unicorn pattern and paying a lot if I wanted to stitch it and put on my wall or tree etc. the sooner you stitch the more time to love it, so the price over enjoyment would be worth it. $ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Birds of a Feather is owned by Hoffmans distributing so they are being released but SLOWLY or maybe they are just sitting on them. Ida Crow has a great dupe with Notforgotten Farm that is really similar
Stephanie, the Hands on Design Philanthropic Pumpkin was a limited-edition fundraiser for Special Olympics - it was not ever released and was only available in a very limited way. $
It was offered at the Galleria market in her booth/room. The line was monstrous to get in and needless to say, it sold old very quickly within an hour or so of the opening of Galleria.
I personally love The Primitive Needle and her goofy little creepy/primitive patterns - I have a couple, but none of the very expensive ones! However, I know a lot of her designs regularly sell around the $50 mark (which is still a little steep for me). I recently got one for what I considered a steal ($18), because the eBay seller 1) didn't know what he had and 2) listed it as "Primative" instead of "Primitive" Needle. It was NOT "Witch's Hollow," though - while that is one of my unicorns, I can't pay the prices it typically goes for. I hunt thrift stores and estate auctions from time to time, crossing my fingers that I'll stumble across some of these. LOL The most I've ever paid for a pattern....hm.....rarely more than the original retail, I think. I bought Rosewood Manor's "Spring Quaker" for a pretty penny, but it was kitted with the fabric and Valdani threads, so that doesn't count. Thanks for a fun video! I've stitched for several decades (long enough that I DO have Bluebell, purchased when it was released - and I've never stitched it, so I should probably sell it!), and it is fun to see how newer stitchers look at the hobby and the behavior of the "collectors." So many of us probably have thousands of dollars worth of patterns and fabric in our stash...
I want to ask about the quit bitchin sweatshirt! I love the colors and design. If it came in a tee I'd love it! I work as a companion for a crabby 97 year old. She loves funny tee shirts!
Came to the comments for this-where can I get that sweatshirt? 😂 This is my first time watching you two. The algorithm gods smiled on me. I subscribed!
I totally understand people paying those prices for patterns, though I haven’t (yet). When my eldest was a baby, I was really into baby wraps and I spent unmentionable amounts of money on pieces of cloth. Some I sold when I was done with them and others I gave away to new moms because I wanted others to be able to enjoy them even if they couldn’t pay the huge prices. With stitching, I really believe the cost of the pattern is such a small amount of the investment in the project and if I was in love with one, I’d pay whatever I had to to get my hands on it. And remember, you can easily spend close to $1000 on a driver if you’re a golfer, and I don’t see this hobby as any different.
$ ❤ this is my first video of yours - very much enjoyed it too! But also OH NO. I had not heard of or seen any mirabilia or Nora Corbett patterns before. And they very much appeal to me… not that I have the concentration span to finish something with that many stitches… off to google I go! 😂
The most I spent on a pattern (and likely ever will) was for Lady of the Flag at $175. It's a trauma/healing stitch (I have 9/11 PTSD) for me, so that made it worth it. So for me, I would spend a lot for a piece that I had an extreme emotional connection to.
What a fun video. I have always wanted The Lady of the Flag chart and I got it for $20 on a stash unload sale. I am about 1/3 done with stitching it, I was surprised that it sold for more than Queen of Freedom.
First time watching you both & will now go back to watch your other videos! Very interesting what goes oop and suddenly in demand & the prices people are willing to pay 🤔 Happy stitching
It was interesting to see what patterns can go for. The most i paid was $75 for Primitive Needle Halloween Parcheesi. Not something i would normally do but Parcheesi is a well loved game in my family and Halloween is a favorite holiday. I plan to stitch it several times.
There are definite benefits to having been a Mirabilia fan for pretty much as long as Nora has been designing lol. Thinking about this list (and not just the Mirabilias), the data geek in me is thinking that it would be interesting to correlate those sales with some other things, like mentions on popular FlossTube channels or the Queen City retreat last year that was a Mirabilia retreat. The Queens and Lady of the Flag have been pretty high priced for a while, but I know that some of the pixies were discussed in the retreat attendee fb group, shown on some FlossTube channels and on the brag table at the retreat. Ida Mae and Ida Ray were shown on Sarah's Stitchy Spot, and of course Pam fromj Just Keep Stitching is a huge Birds of a Feather fan. Having said that, there is way too much stitching to be done to do that sort of data mining lol. I picked up Elizabeth and the Lavender Sky (one of your honorable mentions) last year. I thought it was a reasonable but it now price at $35, which was about my upper limit that I would have spent on it. I didn't read the listing as closely as I thought and was completely surprised when I opened the package and it was the complete kit.. with the price tag still attached. It was a case of someone not being completely aware of what they had.. The Hands on Design chart was a very limited release for a charity. It was a full kit and sold out in a matter of hours when it was released. They've said that there are no plans to release just the chart. This was a fun video.. it's interesting to see what other people value charts at. 🪡👠
I am very new to cross stitching and it boggles my mind that patterns are so expensive. I have never spent more than $20 but that’s just because of budgets. Sometimes the expensive patterns are so worth it!
Fun flosstube topic. I think I've paid around $30 for a OOP that I HAD to have but still haven't stitched. 😂 Looking forward to the kit show. 😊 🪡 ❤️ 🇨🇦
thank you for sharing! yes, most of the OOP charts I have, I haven't started yet! I've stared two and have eight not started yet. Some of those are kitted and ready to start this year, but a few won't get started until next year. But I'm glad I have them!
Wow! I'm someone who has only bought 1 pattern that was no longer being printed. I was lucky and found someone who was willing to sell it for what they paid for it. At this moment in time, I couldn't justify spending that much ($75+) on a pattern. However, I don't have a unicorn pattern that I have been searching for, for years. That might be a game changer for me in the future. Interesting to see that some of my current, kitted up patterns, are worth as much as they are selling for.
Oh wow, yes! If you have some of these kitted up and ready to go, you'll have fun stitching them! Whether you sell the patterns at the end or keep them, it will make it even more interesting. ❤️❤️
I haven’t bought any used patterns yet aside from old pamphlets at McKay’s Used Books that were 50 cents a piece (none of them were anything outrageously outstanding or valuable, but there was a number of ones that for that price was more than worth it for one pattern out of them or such that was appealing, or that I thought I might combine with something else, so I bought maybe 10 of them out of three or four shelves worth of random craft pamphlets.) But i’m someone for whom finding deals is itself a hobby - so the cheaper I can get something or the best deal, the happier it actually makes me. But I can imagine there could be a pattern or two out there eventually that might make me pull the trigger on a $40 to $50 pattern if it was the right one. $
@@Allisonatthemoment yes! There’s very few cross stitch magazines my public library *doesn’t* have a digital subscription to! They’re a little less great on the books front but I can forgive them on that one :)
The most I ever paid for a pattern was $65-70 dollars. It is Dimensions / The Gold Collection's "Soft Sounds of the Orient." It was designed by James Himsworth - one of my favorite designers for Dimensions. The most expensive kit I own is Chatelaine's "Serengeti Mandala." I ordered it at the tail end of the pandemic, and waited over a year to receive the kit and all the floss, but it was so well worth the wait. All said and done; pattern, floss, making working copies of the chart, the fabric - the whole package cost me in excess of $400-600.00. I will never tell my family about this one!!
This was so much fun. I stitched Queen of Freedom and marked up my pattern before I knew better. 🤦♀I bought a Dimensions kit off the secondary market before but nothing close to these prices.
Oh my gosh!!! I am definitely more Allison than Stephanie hehe. This was a wild ride. I don't know if I'm weird (I mean I am! ) but I don't have any 'unicorns', I don't massively get the FOMO of it all, but I totally get that if you HAVE to have something you have to have it. I couldn't justify any of those from my budget - though I loved the idea of if you wanted one desperately, save up from the patterns you'd buy separately and do it that way. This was so much fun to watch and super labour intensive so fantastic job ladies! Allison's face at times was just so hilarious and I was exactly the same...! $
$ running upstairs to check my Birds of a Feather Charts!! I think I have Bluebell or maybe its that one flower fairy I dont have..gotta check!! Thanks ladies!😊
What great info! That’s so tragic 😢 I wish they’d release the pumpkin as another fundraiser ❤
Thank you for this information! It's so fascinating. A great reminder that these designs come from real artists who have real lives. ❤️

There were only 1000 of these released, all hand signed and numbered by Teresa Wentzler for the Fantasy Faire market that year. ❤
❤❤❤
“I just became a Mirabilia fan on accident, I didn’t mean too”
Same girl same! 😂
Great episode
Ahahah! Not me buying more since making this video 😂😂
As a knitter and crocheter who only does small cross stitch kits every once in a while this video was a wild ride.
That was a really fun episode!! I don't think I've ever spent over $25. Can't wait for the most expensive kits!!
Thank you!
Hi! New subscriber. I began stitching over 40+ yrs. I took a 15 yr hiatus, but began again and I'm on project #6
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️
Glad it was helpful! Let us know if you find any good ones!
Very interesting! The prices for some of those charts were pretty fantastic! Not something I would choose to do but other hobbies can be much more expensive, so there is that.
Good point! Most of these are less than a few rounds of gold! ❤️🌎
$ wow!!! I don’t look for out of print charts so this took me by surprise. It is personal and I’m sure emotional. Not sure I need to look beyond the current charts at this point. There are many to choose from!
True, there are so many good ones out there! ❤️🌎
This was such an interesting idea for a video. Even though I’d never spend that much on a pattern, it was so fun to hear and see what others might invest in! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! ❤️❤️
I'm so glad you waited, too!!! Congratulations!
That’s so wild! See it pays to be patient !
Well, this was a fun video. Thanks for sharing something different. It was intriguing. Good job.
Thanks for watching ❤️🌎
🤑 $27 is the most I’ve ever spent on a “pattern” but it was actually a pattern book with 9 patterns in it. Twin Peaks Primitives Gothic Halloween 2023. And I bought two, one for me and one for a friend. Also. Allison’s faces were amazing this whole video.
Love the video. I have three of these charts and I have paid $$ for them. They make me happy, I just need to get them all stitched!
Glad you like them, and we'd love to see them when you work on them! ❤️🌎
I am loving the data analysis! This was great.
Steph is a genius and I LOVE how she uses her intelligence for everything she’s passionate about ❤❤❤
Thank you! 💛
Thank you so much for sharing! 💕
I honestly would NOT have thought some of these were SO expensive! I bought TigerLily when it first came out, it was my first Nora Corbett (I was a Mirabilia exclusive stitcher for years) and since I live in Saskatchewan I wanted to do this one. I have it on my list to do this year so I guess I should pass the pattern when i'm done ;)
I think the most I have ever paid so far has been $30CND
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope someone let's you borrow it one day! ❤️❤️
Pangaea or dimples designs go for sooo much! They're my unicorns!!!!!
wow i'll check them out! ❤️🌎
Just a few months ago, I paid $90 for a rare OOP Workbasket pattern. Original price was $10. This was actually a good deal. I’ve seen some go for twice as much. I can say it was worth it. It is one of my WIPs now.
I love that you got it and are stitching it. It’s a good price if you enjoy it in my book! ❤❤❤
I remember seeing that pattern during one of your videos. It's beautiful!!
This was fun to see - thank you for all of the time you put into researching! - Sheri
Thank you for watching! 💚
Pam of Just Keep Stitchin’ has stitched a few of those expensive Black Bird and Birds Of A Feather patterns. That’s where y’all have probably seen them. Very cute but…💸. Great video, very eye opening!
Thank you! Yes, so cute!
Great topic! I have a lot of patterns given to me and have downloaded some too. The only bummer about being given patterns, you don’t get to pick something that you really want to stitch. (Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for the thoughtfulness.)
I understand what you mean! There are lots of great freebies out there to if you don't want to buy any patterns!
I don’t understand why the companies who sell these patterns stop selling them if people still want to stitch them. I understand if the company is no longer in business.
Not sure either ⁉️
Yes, I don't understand the motivations behind so many of these decisions, but I'd love a peak behind the curtain!
There is only so much room in their warehouses to store stuff.
❤️ Thank you! ❤️
Thanks! That was so much fun to watch AND I have a copy of Hoodoo Voodoo by the Primitive Needle!!! I had no idea it was that valuable!
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, keep it safe!
That was so interesting. I had no idea patterns sold for so much. Thank you for sharing all your research. 💰
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching! ❤️🌎
I would give almost anything for Queen of Freedom, I think she would be a perfect gift for my dad.
That one goes up for sale quite often! You might be able to snag it for a lower price if you watch for deals!
I was confused when I didn't hear Tigerlily being mentioned. Turns out it was #1 😵. Nora Corbett has a free dragonfly pattern from the retreat in 2018.
That one is so pretty! I have the pdf saved to stitch one day. ❤️🌎
Enjoyed this flosstube style and topic. Don't see a lot of others branching out from the typical flosstube formula.
Thank you! We love all things cross stitch 😂 it’s good to explore hobbies in new ways 👍 Thank you for watching!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much! 💛💛
the hands on design was a limited edition that the proceeds went to special olympics. We crashed the site when they went up for sale and was sold out in just a minute or two if I recall.
so I have the pumpkin and Lady of the flag and Queen of Freedom
ooh that's awesome! thank you for watching 💛
I was at a retreat last year and Lady of the Flag kitted up auctioned off for $500😲
I hope it went to a good charity! ❤️
Fascinating !!!!!!! $$$$$
Excellent informative flosstube! Ty
Thanks for watching! 💛
Came across your channel last night. Thoroughly enjoyed that discussion; it was so interesting - I recognised so many of the patterns from other Flosstubers eg the Hygge stitcher is doing the NC fairies. I was fascinated! All the best Claire $
Thank you for watching! 💛💛
Thanks for this really interesting flosstube. I enjoyed hearing what made the top 25 list! Love and blessings x
Thank you! You too!
❤ p.s. I have over half of these 😂
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing this great tip!
Yes, the Hawk Run Hollows are gorgeous but a bit pricey! ❤️🌎
That's a great deal! ❤️❤️❤️ So glad you're enjoying stitching again!
I found your channel with this video and what fun! I think you will find that the Salt Box Stitcher has stitched quite a few of the Loose Feathers patterns. She apparently purchased them years ago and only got around to stitching some of them in the last couple of years. Finished they look great. Keep up the good work!
Oh thank you! I watch her channel, but I'll go look through some of her older videos for more inspiration and info. Thank you for watching! ❤️🌎
One of the most expensive eastern-European designers right now is Sventana, one of her pdf patterns reach ~126 dollars, it’s 11 450 Rubbles, which for some people are their whole monthly salary. She has her own website
Oh wow! Thank you for the information ❤️❤️ How do you find her patterns? Google didn't come up with her site.
How fun!! Great idea. Thanks so much for doing that.
Made me feel a lot less bad about how much I spend in one trip to the LNS! 😂
Definitely mentioning this on my next flosstube!
You are so welcome! I watched your FT episode and I hope you find a pattern treasure at one of your estate sales. ❤️❤️
I don’t cross stitch but I still loved this!
That's awesome! Thank you 💚
💰💵💸💲 That was so fun and a lot of research! The most I have spent is on a Hands Across the Sea but I would love the Freedom and Peace Mira’s. I know now what to look for in our retirement community stash sales❣️‼️
If you find one, definitely let us know! We'd love to hear all about it! ❤️❤️
I love that piece! It will be fun to watch you stitch it!
Thank you, just ordered a floss organiser to put all the threads in 😅. Aim to start it in March 💗
@@loftymakes oooh fun!!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for watching! ❤️🌎
Most spent for me is $88 for Ella Vaughn. I didn't know the Philanthropic Pumpkin was so valuable. I did get lucky enough to snag the kit when it was sold. Have it just sitting with my finished charts!
Wow! That's so exciting! Thank you for sharing your history with some of these with us. 💛
I think the most I've paid for a pattern (not a kit) was about $30. Can't imagine paying hundreds even if I love it because I already have so many waiting to be stitched. Fascinating. Thanks for that.
Thanks for sharing!! I love hearing everyone's experiences and opinions on this!
this was really interesting to see! personally the most i think i spend is 20$ for a pattern, which were all full coverage ones. I had no idea some patterns were that expensive on the secondary market! But then again i've only been back to crossstitch for about 2 years haha.
Thanks for sharing!! ❤️❤️
Fascinating topic! Haven't seen any other similar videos out there on flosstube. Can't wait to see what you do next. I don't see myself ever paying hundreds of dollars for a cross stitch pattern. To each their own! $
Awesome! Thank you! ❤️❤️
Totally wild! This was a great discussion topic...would love to see the 'kit' version!
Thank you! I can’t wait for that one too!
Thank you! That will be a fun one!
Fun video! The most I’ve ever paid is $25. The most I’d ever pay is probably $100 if it was truly important to me. Right now I can’t imagine what that might be. Economics 101, something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. 💵💵
💚💚💚
Very interesting.
Thank you! ❤️🌎
Such a fun episode! And so interesting to see how much some of those patterns go for. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! It's a wild topic ❤️❤️
I spent somewhere around $25-$30 for The New Normal by Long Dog Samplers that I'm still working on 3 years later. I'm a fairly new crosstitcher so this was a fascinating dive into the pattern world!
Thanks for watching! ❤️🌎
$ I am a really frugal stitcher, I use CXC instead of DMC FOR example so could never spend those amounts...there are so many beautiful patterns out there, even freebies, I can't imagine ever needing to outlay so much. 😊✌🇬🇧
Thank you for sharing! ❤️❤️
❤️❤️ I agree! And most of these will only be more expensive in the future!
Pam with Just Keep Stitching has had some lent to her and the angels was one of them!
Oh wow! That's awesome ❤️❤️
Birds of a Feather is owned by Hoffmans distributing so they are being released but SLOWLY or maybe they are just sitting on them. Ida Crow has a great dupe with Notforgotten Farm that is really similar
Oh that's so interesting! They're printing out Prairie Schoolers pretty fast. Surprised they aren't jumping on the BoaF!
Thank you for sharing! It's been wonderful hearing about the stories behind the patterns. ❤️
Oh wow! It was only sold at Galleria? Could people buy it online?
@@CrossStitchtheGlobe only at Galleria.
wow!@@marshakruze6056
LOL
The most I've ever paid for a pattern....hm.....rarely more than the original retail, I think.
I'll have Allison reply - I'm not sure where she got it ❤️
Came to the comments for this-where can I get that sweatshirt? 😂 This is my first time watching you two. The algorithm gods smiled on me. I subscribed!
Not sure if it's the exact one, but I found it on Etsy from FeatherpopShop
This was a fun video to watch! 😊
❤️❤️ Thank you!
I agree - even $100 on a pattern is so much less than I spend on a trip and will last me just as many hours of enjoyment!
$ ❤ this is my first video of yours - very much enjoyed it too! But also OH NO. I had not heard of or seen any mirabilia or Nora Corbett patterns before. And they very much appeal to me… not that I have the concentration span to finish something with that many stitches… off to google I go! 😂
Thanks for watching! If you get bitten by the Mirabilia bug, you have to let us know what you start!
The most I spent on a pattern (and likely ever will) was for Lady of the Flag at $175. It's a trauma/healing stitch (I have 9/11 PTSD) for me, so that made it worth it. So for me, I would spend a lot for a piece that I had an extreme emotional connection to.
Thank you for sharing!
Most paid $35 but would consider more if it was a unicorn, lots of fun ❤
Thank you! ❤️🌎
I'm in LOVE with that Gigi #2!!
It's VERY cool!
Love Thomas and the Mirabella girl! Have a great time at market!
Thank you 🤗
What a fun video. I have always wanted The Lady of the Flag chart and I got it for $20 on a stash unload sale. I am about 1/3 done with stitching it, I was surprised that it sold for more than Queen of Freedom.
That's so awesome - congratulations! Is it a fun stitch?
First time watching you both & will now go back to watch your other videos! Very interesting what goes oop and suddenly in demand & the prices people are willing to pay 🤔 Happy stitching
my first time watching them too!
Thank you so much! Yes, it's wild what becomes expensive and what doesn't. ❤️
thank you for watching! ❤️
It was interesting to see what patterns can go for. The most i paid was $75 for Primitive Needle Halloween Parcheesi. Not something i would normally do but Parcheesi is a well loved game in my family and Halloween is a favorite holiday. I plan to stitch it several times.
Thank you for sharing! We love hearing about the stories behind some of these designers. ❤️❤️
🤑 great seeing you again... very interesting video.. keep them coming..I dont think I could ever pay those prices for a pattern ❤
Thanks for watching! Not exactly a dollar store haul, but I love learning about both! 💚💚💚
Thank you so much for sharing all of these details! We love hearing about the history and details behind the patterns. ❤️❤️
$55. Wonderful interesting info. Omg. That took alot of time and research. Thank you for doing that.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! ❤️❤️
I am very new to cross stitching and it boggles my mind that patterns are so expensive. I have never spent more than $20 but that’s just because of budgets. Sometimes the expensive patterns are so worth it!
Oh I’m not new to cross stitch but I had noooo clue these prices were so high! 💲💲
Some of them are so pretty! I agree 💛💛
Fun flosstube topic. I think I've paid around $30 for a OOP that I HAD to have but still haven't stitched. 😂 Looking forward to the kit show. 😊 🪡 ❤️ 🇨🇦
$30 is my top right now and I’m not sure what could put me over that as that’s quite a bit 😬 for me anyway
thank you for sharing! yes, most of the OOP charts I have, I haven't started yet!
❤ 50 cent sounds like my kind of pattern 😂 I also take advantage of my local library’s stash of cross stitch magazines and 📖 🪡
@@Allisonatthemoment yes! There’s very few cross stitch magazines my public library *doesn’t* have a digital subscription to! They’re a little less great on the books front but I can forgive them on that one :)
That's very cool!
Uh oh! lol I mark up all my patterns but I only thought about making working copies on about my third or fourth project 🤦🏻♀️😂❤
