I have a request but I don't know if its in your field or not and its A rather large ask. I am trying to use CLEAN STREAM which filters out bad language for live broadcasting. It works but not great and would love you (if possible) to maybe look into something like this at some point. I'd love a text to speech feature with output to specific audio device... I'm wanting to live multi stream my karaoke cab experience but I'd rather not have to read chat while driving.. it would be nice to listen to it instead...

Hey Steve, this plug in is great! I set it up on my sister's stream and we love it.
I wondered if there was a way to change the audio notification sound whenever someone comments?
At the moment to do this, you have to go into the folder for the extension and replace the tone.mp3/tone.ogg audio file with your own.
If you have a suggestion on a better idea on how to change it, let me know

hey is there a way to change the dimensions of the overlay? For example I am trying to make my chat scroll horizontally on the top or bottom of my stream, but it is only wide enough to show 1 or 2 messages before getting cut off. Sorry if this was in the video and i missed it or anything like that. This is great
really thanks! but ive an issue. messages take like 50s since they are entered on facebook till the ninja strema gets them. Sometimes take 20s sometimes 40s... but its never under 20s... is there a way to fix it or is the way it works? thanks!

Are these delayed messages the ones that you are sending, or messages that others in the chat are sending?
Does it have the issue if Facebook's chat is visible on the screen, versus being minimized? It probably work won't as fast if you minimize the Facebook page/chat, as the browser will throttle it.

Interesting stuff, I really like the highlighting message stuff and could see that working very nicely for ama's and other highly chat focused streams.
I do wonder though, as someone who struggles to keep up with chat while streaming constant focus games geres like rts and speedrunning. Would it be possible to have dock/browser source read out chat with tts? Useful things with that could be parameters like reading three message per minute, pausing/unpausing or not reading names for consecutive messages sent by the same person. These are some things I've been looking for, however haven't found anything downloadable or intergrates nicely into obs with hotkeys yet. Still need to do further research on those but damn that'd be useful.
Also a quick side question for vdo ninja, is there a way you can force it not to use a proxy server? I haven't wanted to use it in some cases as I heard you're paying the expenses for that and I've typically got other free options available.

It would be possible to have it modified to read out messages, and even do speech to text. I've been playing around with the later, speech to text, so I can automate message replies with my voice.
If you wish to disable the relay servers on VDO.Ninja, you can add &turn=false to all the URLs; this will keep the cost of operation virtually near zero for me. While I do pay for bandwidth, so long as its not being abused or improperly used, I'm totally okay with it.

Awesome product and video however I have a question on something needed but I did not see addressed. Is there a way to set up a chat bot with this somehow? I really need the bot to hit the multiple chats with my donation and merch links etc. Especially the platforms like Rumble and Rokfin which my nightbot doesn't connect to.
There are ways to have a chat bot respond. You can add your own code to the custom.js file for example, but you are on your own for writing the bot code. I've provided examples with !joke though, to show how to respond to chat messages with a command.

Can you change the colors of the names? To make it a bit more distinguished between chats?
Can you adjust it so allow twitch channel point redeems to come through?
And Twitch now has it so that we can flag some users as monitored or restricted users, it colors the entire chat block when they send a chat. Can those carry over?
colored names is available. channel point redeems can be enabled as an option.
monitor/restricted users I dont know about, so I'll say probalby not supported yet
@@steve_seguin The colored names and channel point redeems are honestly the main thing for me. Distingushing people and see the twitch redeems for fun stuff is huge. The monitor/restricted users is more a bonus than anything else. Though the yet you added gives hope. Definitely gonna try this with next stream. Thanks for the info and quick reply!!
@@steve_seguin how do you do that exactly? I'm trying to allow people to use their chosen colors from Twitch, and random for anyone else, and nothing I do seems to change any name from white! Thanks in advance!

"Color names if color info available" and "Add a random color to uncolored names"
Once you enabled those, you can then open the dock link again.
Interesting way to bring in the chat. Couldn't you just create a plug-in to use OBS current built-in chat window instead of having to use Chrome browser plug-ins?

Thanks a lot. I need this becaus I stream on multiple platforms. It works perfectly but I've only an issue with TTS. I can't hear the Text to Speech (TTS) audio on the stream (I can hear it through headphones). I checked "control sound via OBS" in the browser source, but in the audio mixer nothing happens when the TTS is played and the TTS cannot be heard on the stream either
That's a problem. It might be using the system's TTS audio driver for playback, and that might be bypassing OBS.
The premium Google speech option I included might get around that issue. Haven't had anyone report problems so far tho.

@@steve_seguin I found a way to loop the system TTS audio to OBS: I selected explorer.exe in system application recorder and voila, people on the livestream can hear the TTS

You can also try using a virtual audio cable to capture system audio, and route that into OBS, if wanting to use the default system TTS as you are now: github.com/steveseguin/social_stream#text-to-speech

Amazing effort buddy. Means a lot. But I am facing an issue. I keep the web browser active at one corner of the screen (mac) and the chat overlay works for a while. In my zoom live stream, I have close to 200-300 participants and when many chat at the same time, the dock doesnt get updated. Can you please help me how to resolve this? Even when I go to the window, click on it and open the chat box, it doesnt update.

@@juanechevarria8442 Normally you'd just open the Instagram live video stream page. If you can see the Instagram chat in the instagram page, normally SocialStream can capture it.
If using the standalone app, you may need to sign into instagram within the app for it to work. If using the extension version, you just go to the instagram page that contains your live chat.

Is it possible to get Twitter replies to work in this tool? I know they are a quite a bit different than the chat logs, but Twitter doesn't seem to allow commenting on videos except as reply tweets.
I've added twitter support to my other chat extension; chat.overlay.ninja That lets you select tweets and replies I think, but it won't be a constant stream -- just featured chat.

I have a question I can't change the colour of the live chat overlay instead I change in the index document and save. What can I do. I change the colour values of BG-chat and bg-comment, refresh the cache in OBS and nothing happens. Thank you so much.

I’m using this in OBs. How can I made the message fade in and out when I click on q message to display in obs. Instead of sliding up and down. ?
add &fade to the overlay page. I'll add this as a toggle option next update.

I already removed every other chat plugin and addOn I used to display comments/chat on my stream. One more thing for some reason when using Mobcrush I get duplicate chat messages and I’m not talking about the one I send through the plugin I’m talking about the one viewers send. Maybe you can look at that or add filter for duplicate messages

My google chrome can find the zipped file I downloaded. I see it in the download folder but when I try to load it via the extension, the download folder shows empty.

how do i set it up to see the FB live chat , inside the game i'm playing? i don't use a fb gaming page, just my personal one, i tried it but i can't see them , i can see them only if i use a second monitor to check my live stream , or using my phone, but when i go back to the game full screen, the comments from fb live chat doesn't even pop up , thanks

how do I hide the messages in the overlay after a certain amount of time? they arent leaving in obs. Is this only on the viewers side they will hide?
&showtime=10000 can be added to the URL, on either the dock or index page, to hide messages after 10 seconds.

you can send one message to all platforms, and pull all messages from all platforms into a single chat stream
Doesn't work anymore. Chrome gives error saying it is no longer accepting versoin2 it will only take 3

Hi there is there a limit to the number of messages ninja chat can handle? I was using earlier on a live stream and lost the messages in streamlabs
There's no limit, but some chat sources might stop the chat if its not "visible" on screen somewhere.

Its great tool. How can I manage with facebook comments, which are longer and ending with "Show more"? In dashboard it shows with this text and dont change even when I click it later on facebook. Thank you
I'll look into offering a solution to this "show more" issue. Never noticed it before. Facebook doesn't make solving these types of issues easy for me.
I pushed an update. You will need to re-download the extension, then reload both the extension + facebook. Seems to be working for me now with long messages - let me know tho if it doesn't work.

the yt/twitch/etc chat pop out windows must remain open in the browser. You don't need to keep the dock open if you have the dock in OBS instead
@@steve_seguin I've just come across this amazing tool. I too wanted to confirm, can I do it all using just OBS instead of opening up the Chrome browser and setting it all up? Also, with Facebook Live not having a popout chat(that I've been able to find) does that mean having to view my own stream(as a viewer)while also streaming using OBS
@@dragonballnz you can pause your FB video and keep just the chat live
It's an extension, so it will need some browser open running it.
Future versions might be standalone.
@@steve_seguin thanks Steve, you don't get enough credit for this. I properly tested it lastnight with Twitch and Facebook, and the night before privately with one person.
If I popout the twitch chat, it opens in a new window. From there, can I close the main browser or will that stop the extension. It's a shame facebook doesn't seem to have a popout chat capability.
However, apart from that it seemed to work fine. Was one issue though where the Facebook comments coming through were coming through twice. Couldn't figure out why, was using Chrome.

If Ecamm Live has a browser / web source option, you could include Social Stream there.

@steve_seguin Thank you for the quick reply. I do have the option to add a widget overlay with URL and widget options but I seem to not understand getting the feed to load but will try some other aspects. If I understand correctly, Chat is not the same as Comments such on Twitter.
Hi. Do you have a chat extension for Firefox? Not a fan of Chrome.
I used to have a Firefox version, but Firefox doesn't support many of the features and is very cumbersome to support in comparison to Chrome.
I may have a compatible version in a few months, but it will likely take a lot of work to make it happen at this point.
It will work with other Chromium browsers though; MS Edge for example, and perhaps Brave.
