Definetely not a begginers friendly tutorial, but I want to add an update regarding my experience. I've been crocheting this sweater for 3 months now, I'm about to be finished, just need to work on the sleeves. Here are the most important points to whoever want to crochet this right: 1- When working on the starting neck line (the 2 + 2 inches, work it out from the inside, not attaching the yarn from the outside as shown on the video, since it will create a weird looking line at the neck part. 2 - Try to pay attention to what Erin is doing with the neck part, find the center and from there count 5 stiches to the left and 5 to the right (you should have a total 10 stiches on the center of the panel) to ensure your neck will come out with sort of a v look 3- Go to min 14:39 to see Erin's measurements on the sweater, I recommend you to guide yourself on the inches and not the rows as I had so much trouble reaching the correct size for the pannels until I reached that part of the video. 4- When working on the ribbed part of the neck, I recommend you looking on RUclips a tutorial for Front Post Back Post stich, since on the video is not clear what she's doing. Use single crochet to work the front post back post so the neck will come out like hers. Also at the end of each neck row, I'd sugest to end the row with a slip stich to avoid having a side taller than the other side, so end it with a slip stich and start your next row with the stich you ended the last row, for example if you ended on a front post, that will be your starting stich again, and just go switching from front post to back post to get the ribbed neck. 5- Make sure the 32 stiches on the back panel matches your stiches on the front panel, I didn't take this into consideration and when joining both panels you will have to decrease and I will create a bit of a cluster look on the shoulders, so please count your stiches and if they don't match, don't panic you can just decrease when joining the 2 panels together. 6 - For the sleeves following Erin's measurement it will come too tight around the arm, I'd sugest making it longer, at least adding 5 inches more to the suggested length
@@frankiecarter9430 You're more than welcome. Please be aware that you need to gradually increase the sleeves, they are too tight following Erin's measurements, I'm starting to increase at row 14. My sleeve has 108 rows (about 56 centimiters long)
Thank you so much for the explanation. I started this sweater last year when I was a beginner to make the ribbed part of the bottom and left it there as I couldn't go further Now I started again from yesterday and I found out that what I made was totally different from what she made 😂😂. I didn't know about the front post stitch that time. I had to repeat the ribbed part again because I thought she's doing single stitch on the 8th one using only the front. Turned out it's both. I'm still new to crochet so I don't know how to explain people 🤦♀️

You're my first crochet project and I'm enjoying it so far though I tend to ran out of yarn so fast (lol, feelin' like a pro already) but yeah, I'm totally having fun doing it since yesterday and I promise to share this one to you when it's done. 😉🫶🏻
You taught me how to make a beanie in one of your videos and I am so thankful for that 😊 I gave it to my friend who's leaving our country to pursue his career ✨ Now, you've taught me something new again 😊 Many thanks!
I LOVE this, I’m making it for my boyfriend for Christmas. This is the prettiest and most clear sweater tutorial, I appreciate that you added video of how the sweater looked on. I was wondering if it is necessary to use single crochet to do the underarm and side seam ? Or could I just use a darning needle like you do to join the two panels at the shoulders ?
This sweater is amazing! I've been looking for a pattern like this for a while now, and I'm so happy that I found it. I almost finished, but I got stuck at the collar part. I did alternate between the front/back post stitchet like you wrote, but it just didn't turn out like yours did. I would really love to get some help because I need to finish this as soon as possible. Thank!❤ And I'm soory about my English, it's not my first language😅
Hey! Just a quick note, I really think you should specify what terms ur using in the description like UK or US just to make it easy to identify if I'm doing correct stitches / can do this project
Best jumper tutorial I've seen yet, very informative, not too fast and well recorded. Only other decent menswear video is the black and white cardigan tutorial by Dee's Creations. I'll give this one a go!
I'm currently crocheting this for my boyfriend, I'm switching up the colors by having the main color as hunters green and a stripe of Caron Cinnamon Swirl chocolate swirl color. It's coming out super well, I'm really happy with the drape the stitches create. I'll update after I'm finished and I give it to him.
I've never touched any sort of crocheting tools in my life, but I really want to start to learn. This sweater looks so comfy and since it's easy for beginners then I'll try it once I learn how to make a square 🤦♂️😂
Thank you for sharing. It is a lovely sweater. I am sure many people have asked you this question before... how to adjust the size of the sweater? I do need to make it much better for myself. Thanks ~
I really love this tutorial!! It's easy to understand and short and you can make a lot of things on your own without having to check back in all the time I have one question thoo or maybe I'm just a little bit confused....the neckline...on the one side I could easily continue and had no problems the other side i was not able to work it out like showed in the video without messing up the pattern....so i started from the neckline with a decrease and continue from there ...i don't it's a problem i hope i didn't mess anything up for later and yeah....maybe i just crochet different than you or didn't quite understand how you did it....but just in case anyone else had this problem - i think you you can resolve it like this
I made this and had to increase the width of the arm panels to give more room in the shoulder area of the sleeves, and ended up decreasing every other row of the neckline to give it more of a mock neck look
This sweater took me about 2 months to make (approx 60/70 hours) and I am quite a confident crocheter! It took me about 1,700 grams of wool, so around 17 balls. It looks amazing, the sweater is super warm. For the length of time it takes however, I don’t think I will be making it again. Thanks! :)
Probably the best how to crochet something video around. Kudos and great gratitude! 🙏🏽 Never too old to learn a new stich..around the post! Excellent camera work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️
I will be coming back here soon, i need to finish a previous prohect but i will soon be making matchinh sweaters for me and my girlfriend and this is a great starting point!!
Such a beautiful project, I do have a question regarding the neckline- it looks like you’ve worked some decreases throughout to allow it to lay flat against the neck and collar bones… is this the case, and if so could you perhaps describe how you achieved the specific shape in your collar?? I hope I’m not intruding on your trade secrets, I just struggle with understanding what stitches have been used when I look at finished products… still a student 😉 Thank you!
This sounds interesting! I'm currently working on preparing and spinning an alpacka fliece and I have about a kilogram of carded wool to spin as well so I'm looking for patterns that seem easy to adjust for different sizes and threads
I love the result ! I'm about to make the sweater but I have one question : on the third row, do we have to do a slip knot on top of a half double crochet, or a slip knot on top of a slip knot ? (and does it make any difference for the pattern ?)
Hi girl!! Yes you have to do a slip knit on top of the HDC! If you place the same stitch on top of itself the pattern will come out very different and it’ll also change the size/rows of the sweater. Start every row with the slip and finish every row with the hdc!!
@@itserinb Should the ribbing for the arms end on an odd number? I had an even number similar to how you did it the tutorial, but adding those increases on the sleeve made an odd number of stitches. So instead of starting each row with a slip stitch and ending with a half double crochet stitch, I had to alternate how I started each row by starting with a slip, then starting the next row with a half double, etc. Great tutorial! Thanks!
I can’t wait to make this sweater! I have so many projects lined up right now and have just added one more. How would I make the neckline smaller for this sweater? Would I just start the decreases for the panels closer to the center? Thank you!😊
Yes definitely! I used two different stitches to give the sweater some texture but it would be simpler and must quicker to just do HDC or DC for the entire sweater!
Hello me lovely, great video and tutorial, it was good to see that you had the camera in close , so that we could actually see you go around the front post and back post, it makes it so much clearer. I am a visual learner and that video was visual. Thank you. Have a good weekend. Keep safe and be lucky 💞💞💞
K, maybe I was a bit too ambitious, starting this sweater as a second ever crochet project) But! I'm pretty crafty, so I figured it out pretty fast (you just need a little patience!) It's been two weeks and I'm halfway done, did the front panel and one sleeve. I actually figured out how to do the shoulder part on the front panel, so the pattern doesn't get messed up, I started in the middle and after struggling for a couple of hours I did it! I also struggled a lot with the first row of single crochets after the ribbing, for some reason it was always one loop too much or one too little haha It's coming out great and really neat, I'm just a bit worried that it's not going to fit me (I'm an M to XL in dif types of clothes, but I compared the front panel to a sweater that fits me and it's about the same), BUT if everything goes south I'm going to try out blocking, maybe it'll help. Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm very picky with my style, I don't like a lot of crochet pieces, but I sure as hell like this pattern!
right now i have just finished crocheting the front panel. i made it a different size but overall it looks similar! it was also very relaxing to just do the same two stitches again and again. now i am starting to work on the sleeves (i need a little variety, thats why im not making the back panel) and i am afraid they are going to look bad because theyre gonna be too big for me but i will find a way to work around that. the store where i buy my yarn from also only has 4x 150m balls of the colour i need left and i am super worried its not gonna be enough.
so i am making the sleeve right now and about on row 50. i have about 20g of yarn left from the ball i calculated to be used for this sleeve. i am a bit afraid if it will be enough.
Hi! Love the tutorial! I'm a beginner at crochet but I really want to make this for my husband. However, I don't know how to make it a bigger size (size L in US Mens). Tips? Thank you!
i was trying to find a tutorial for this and when i saw the thumbnail i was like omg wait i know that street with the tunnel and then i clicked on the video and i know the mall you filmed it at and now i’m like totally freaked out 😭
i’ve finally actually learned how to crochet with this tutorial, you’re the bomb!! one question though, how tall is the guy wearing the sweater? i’m 5’4 trying to figure out if i should do less rows :)
Hi there! I know you've probably already received this question, but how would we adjust the pattern if it was a Men's small? Would 4 skeins work if it was the same yarn you used?
Hey!! I love this pattern and method- it was so easy to learn!! My sweater came out really really big though. I used the same weight of yarn and everything. Do you have an idea of why this might be?
This tutorial is really beginner friendly! Will try making this!! Can I know how many grams of yarn you used for making this sweater? Thank you so much! 🤩🥰
Hi , I’m not the neck line segment , I feel like the pattern will be thrown off if I crochet on at both ends of the sweater. Should I started at the end like in the tutorial for one side but then yarn on at my marker in the middle at the other side to keep the pattern or will that throw off my neck line look ?? Sorry if this didn’t make sense 10:41
Hi!✨I would love to recreate this sweater for my boyfriend but he’s a large, so could you provide some guidance on the sizing of each piece of the sweater please? I realised that you based it off the medium size. And also, would it be wise to use a thicker wool to speed up the process? Thank you✨
I’d say get his measurements first and use a 6mm or 6.5mm hook for your thicker yarn choice, based on his sizing add around 2-3 maybe 4 inches more to keep the oversized look. My only other recommendations are to keep your number around the same as hers but adding to width by the 5th or 10th row relevant to her medium size pattern (I.e: 90rows>100rows/105rows>110rows)
Using weight 5 and above will work, but if you want around the same stitch tightness relevant to her pattern sizing down the recommended hook size will give that effect. ✨ happy crocheting I hope this helps.
Hey Hi there. :) This video needs more than any of our compliments ✨😇. It's super amazing and very easy pattern. The only doubt I have is in the second row do u start with the SS or HDC?
Great tutorial, I have a question though, are the panels supposed to get wider with every row of stitches? This is my first time, and it's getting wider with each rows I've done. Thanks :)
After a week of repeating the video non stop im done 😊🎉
Oooh I need to see!!
Definetely not a begginers friendly tutorial, but I want to add an update regarding my experience. I've been crocheting this sweater for 3 months now, I'm about to be finished, just need to work on the sleeves. Here are the most important points to whoever want to crochet this right:
1- When working on the starting neck line (the 2 + 2 inches, work it out from the inside, not attaching the yarn from the outside as shown on the video, since it will create a weird looking line at the neck part.
2 - Try to pay attention to what Erin is doing with the neck part, find the center and from there count 5 stiches to the left and 5 to the right (you should have a total 10 stiches on the center of the panel) to ensure your neck will come out with sort of a v look
3- Go to min 14:39 to see Erin's measurements on the sweater, I recommend you to guide yourself on the inches and not the rows as I had so much trouble reaching the correct size for the pannels until I reached that part of the video.
Totalmente, debo ver todo en cámara lenta y prácticamente adivinar lo que está haciendo
Where i can find the pattern?

You're my first crochet project and I'm enjoying it so far though I tend to ran out of yarn so fast (lol, feelin' like a pro already) but yeah, I'm totally having fun doing it since yesterday and I promise to share this one to you when it's done. 😉🫶🏻
yesss I need to see it!!
Just followed this to make my first ever sweater!!! Thank you for the lovely tutorial :)
Aww thank you for being here! 💖
Took a week and half but I made Mine!! Gonna add a hood to it too!! Thanks so much for this beautiful pattern!!🖤
So quick!!
It’s definitely very comfy!! I hope you decide to make it 💓
What a cute design! You did a great job explaining everything.
Thank you so much!! I hope yours turns out great 🥰
Thank you for sharing. It is a lovely sweater. I am sure many people have asked you this question before... how to adjust the size of the sweater? I do need to make it much better for myself. Thanks ~
FINALLY A PATTERN FOR ONE MY SIZE!!!!!!!
Let’s goooo
i love the fit and texture of this sweater! I think it may end up being my first one!
I really love this tutorial!! It's easy to understand and short and you can make a lot of things on your own without having to check back in all the time
I have one question thoo or maybe I'm just a little bit confused....the neckline...on the one side I could easily continue and had no problems the other side i was not able to work it out like showed in the video without messing up the pattern....so i started from the neckline with a decrease and continue from there ...i don't it's a problem i hope i didn't mess anything up for later and yeah....maybe i just crochet different than you or didn't quite understand how you did it....but just in case anyone else had this problem - i think you you can resolve it like this
I’m definitely going to try this one. You seem like you give easy instructions. Looking forward to making this.
hello! i just finished making my sweater with this tutorial and it came out so wonderful. thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Hey can u just tell me how to start second row after the ribbing bcos it's missing from the tutorial
Thanks! :)
It’s definitely a time consuming sweater, the stitch work is dense for sure lol
I have more simple patterns up now and about to release another ❣️
Probably the best how to crochet something video around. Kudos and great gratitude! 🙏🏽 Never too old to learn a new stich..around the post! Excellent camera work 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️
Wow thank you Norma!! I appreciate your kind words and support 🤍🤍
Love this❤❤❤. Though i may have to repeat the video several times to master everything 😂. It seems easy not until it's done 😅
I always wondered how sweaters were made! You are awesome I look forward in doing this❤
Aww thank you so much!!
Thank you. I’ve come back to this vid about 10 times now for a reference, I appreciate you and your passion. :)
Finally a nice and easy pattern to make 😊 thank you 🐱
I will be coming back here soon, i need to finish a previous prohect but i will soon be making matchinh sweaters for me and my girlfriend and this is a great starting point!!
Such a beautiful project, I do have a question regarding the neckline- it looks like you’ve worked some decreases throughout to allow it to lay flat against the neck and collar bones… is this the case, and if so could you perhaps describe how you achieved the specific shape in your collar??
I hope I’m not intruding on your trade secrets, I just struggle with understanding what stitches have been used when I look at finished products… still a student 😉
Thank you!
I was wondering the same here
My friend been asking for a sweater for a while, so finally decided to do it for them. Definitely need this pattern with a turtle neck!
Thank you very much
Just finished mine ❤❤❤🎉
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Erin ! Thank you so much for this great video. I was just wondering how you decreased on the collar ? I just can’t seem to understand ! 😊
I made my first sweater ! Your tutorial was so easy to follow. Thank you so much ☺️
Hi can a 5pc of 100g yarn do a (29 length and 22width) sweater? 😭
Am new to your youtube channel and I enjoy your crochet sweater tutorial video so much. But I will definitely try it once I buy my crochet wool
This sounds interesting! I'm currently working on preparing and spinning an alpacka fliece and I have about a kilogram of carded wool to spin as well so I'm looking for patterns that seem easy to adjust for different sizes and threads
Merci so much for your video because thanks to you I begin I have never tried to made my sweater I m so happy
I'm going to upload this video to my post with the source! I want to share it with others too!!
😊😊😊🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for this pattern thinking of doing this in peach and lavender😍
I gotta look this over.. intriguing collar.. !
I’ve been crocheting for a year or so and a big project like this is a little intimidating still but I’m gonna try!
You can do it!!
Hi ! I'm about to make this sweater, but I'm wondering about the size, do you have the written pattern for the size, maybe for L, or XL? Thank you 😊
They said size men's medium
This is lowkey some visual asmr 💚
Beautiful color. Beautiful loops. Gonna try to make this for my boyfriend.
Same here. 😂😂😂
@@itserinb Thank you so much for your answer ! i'm gonna do that right now :)
Thanks!
Oh nice to know that...🤔
Im making this for my fiancé
I've already made the 2 panels and just have the neckline and sleeves to be done.
Thanks for the amazing tutorial
You got this!! Good luck 💖
I’m going to make a fred weasley sweater so this pattern will be perfect
Wow I never thought of that but it definitely screams Fred weasley 😂😂
Lovely video and work. You give a clear tutorial what my husband asked for it. Will it be possible to get a pattern form you?
Was thinking of writing a pattern for it this year, but it will take a while 🥰💖
I'm currently crocheting this as a birthday gift for my bf 😍 can you make a tutorial for men's cardigan? 🙌
I can’t wait to make this sweater! I have so many projects lined up right now and have just added one more. How would I make the neckline smaller for this sweater? Would I just start the decreases for the panels closer to the center? Thank you!😊
Yes exactly!!! Or even decrease on the inner corner even less than I did, it won’t taper off as much 🥰
This looks great!! If you wanted could you just do single crochets for the whole thing instead of the slip stitch and half double?
Yes definitely! I used two different stitches to give the sweater some texture but it would be simpler and must quicker to just do HDC or DC for the entire sweater!
Your model is absolutely gorgeous and the project is amazing and easy to
He says thank you!! 💖💖
I'm in the process of making this sweater, 60 rows so far!! Pushing on!!
Hi can a 5pcs of 100g yarn do a (29length and 22width) sweater?
@@Clarkkii I really don't know... But I think that's not enough. So far I'm on the back part. Finished the front part but I've used a lot of yarn.
Hello me lovely, great video and tutorial, it was good to see that you had the camera in close , so that we could actually see you go around the front post and back post, it makes it so much clearer. I am a visual learner and that video was visual. Thank you. Have a good weekend. Keep safe and be lucky 💞💞💞
this makes me so happy to hear that this diy could help you create something!! thank you for supporting me and leaving such a kind comment 🤍🤍
Hello I am a 14 years old boy from Germany and I thank you so much for this nice tutorial. 👍
I just got some Tunisian Crochet needles. This pattern will be perfect for me. Thanks for sharing.
Wow the sweater looks amazing!
Trying this right now. Wish me luck! 🍀
Finally I'm done with mine❤
K, maybe I was a bit too ambitious, starting this sweater as a second ever crochet project) But! I'm pretty crafty, so I figured it out pretty fast (you just need a little patience!)
It's been two weeks and I'm halfway done, did the front panel and one sleeve.
I actually figured out how to do the shoulder part on the front panel, so the pattern doesn't get messed up, I started in the middle and after struggling for a couple of hours I did it!
I also struggled a lot with the first row of single crochets after the ribbing, for some reason it was always one loop too much or one too little haha
It's coming out great and really neat, I'm just a bit worried that it's not going to fit me (I'm an M to XL in dif types of clothes, but I compared the front panel to a sweater that fits me and it's about the same), BUT if everything goes south I'm going to try out blocking, maybe it'll help.
Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm very picky with my style, I don't like a lot of crochet pieces, but I sure as hell like this pattern!
Hi! Im thinking of making this sweater because its so lovely
This is so cute and love the colour 🤩 xx
Thank you so much!! 🤍
@@itserinb what color did you use ?
this video is three years old but i have decided to update my process whenever i come back to the video to check the next step!
right now i have just finished crocheting the front panel. i made it a different size but overall it looks similar! it was also very relaxing to just do the same two stitches again and again. now i am starting to work on the sleeves (i need a little variety, thats why im not making the back panel) and i am afraid they are going to look bad because theyre gonna be too big for me but i will find a way to work around that. the store where i buy my yarn from also only has 4x 150m balls of the colour i need left and i am super worried its not gonna be enough.
so i am making the sleeve right now and about on row 50. i have about 20g of yarn left from the ball i calculated to be used for this sleeve. i am a bit afraid if it will be enough.
what fabric yarn would be best for this?
@@user74848i think she is using acrylic so thats probably best. plus it is easily accessible
@@gloss2468 thank you
Hi! Love the tutorial! I'm a beginner at crochet but I really want to make this for my husband. However, I don't know how to make it a bigger size (size L in US Mens). Tips? Thank you!
Did you ever figure out how to make it bigger? I’m trying to do the same thing for my dad.
Hey can you please let me know the final measurements of this sweater?? Looks amazing thank you!
i was trying to find a tutorial for this and when i saw the thumbnail i was like omg wait i know that street with the tunnel and then i clicked on the video and i know the mall you filmed it at and now i’m like totally freaked out 😭
this tutorial is so perfect! checking back once I have my materials ready :))
So how is it going?
I'm halfway done with mine!!!!
i’ve finally actually learned how to crochet with this tutorial, you’re the bomb!! one question though, how tall is the guy wearing the sweater? i’m 5’4 trying to figure out if i should do less rows :)
He’s about 5’ 8”! If you need less rows just hold the panel up to your body to see if it’s long enough for you!
@@itserinbthank you so much! :)
Hi there! I know you've probably already received this question, but how would we adjust the pattern if it was a Men's small? Would 4 skeins work if it was the same yarn you used?
Did you ever figure it out lol
This was so hard for me, can you make a video of what it looks like after the second row of half dc and slip stitch combo
Awesome tutorial, thank you!
Hey!! I love this pattern and method- it was so easy to learn!! My sweater came out really really big though. I used the same weight of yarn and everything. Do you have an idea of why this might be?
Hmm hard to diagnose without seeing yours, but this pattern was designed with a very oversized fit! 💖
This tutorial is really beginner friendly! Will try making this!! Can I know how many grams of yarn you used for making this sweater? Thank you so much! 🤩🥰
This tutorial is so easy to understand 😊 i really want to know the total length of the yarn you used so i can calculate and buy the right quantity
@@kanyewesticle9438 thank you very much✨
Can u make a series just for men sweaters, cardigan bcoz i dont see any kind of sweater for mens
Hey Hi there.
:)
This video needs more than any of our compliments ✨😇. It's super amazing and very easy pattern. The only doubt I have is in the second row do u start with the SS or HDC?
Great tutorial, I have a question though, are the panels supposed to get wider with every row of stitches? This is my first time, and it's getting wider with each rows I've done. Thanks :)
