Ahh... cuttlefish. Of the three species you caught, those are my favorites. I cook them the Algarve way, fried in olive oil with plenty of garlic and fresh finelly chopped coriander, served with boiled potatoes sliced in half and sautéed on the same oil where you fried the cuttlefish. It never fails! They are also great charcoal grilled. Trust me, I'm portuguese. ;) Great video as usual! Keep em coming!
There were so many things I enjoyed in this video, from the gorgeous morning weather, the octopi you were catching, even the superb use of a Monty Python reference. But the piece I loved the most was seeing those dolphins that followed you along. I backtracked over and over to those sections. They were beautiful & they even seemed happy with their own catch. I know they may have been a tiny bit pesky to you but I'm so glad you capture them on video for us to admire.

- My Octopus teacher has something to answer for. First 20 mins is just a guy complaining about his life and poor relationships with his family. Which is simply a result of his own selfish choices. Purely a spin off from the section in Attenboroughs Blue Planet brought out the year previously. The Octopus population in my local area is exploding and causing a lot of damage to shellfish populations.
@@TheFishLocker honestly I'm an aquarist who works with octopus on a daily basis, but I'm all for catch and eat/bait, some species spiral out of control due to our actions. They are intelligent and cute but like you said, too many cause an upset of the ecological balance.

Its Sunday in the US and I had to go in to work this morning when I got your notification. I thought, "hey, I've been working, its time for a break!"; I started working 15 minutes ago, hahahaha. Lovely video John. I would be happy just to watch the dolphins.. Looking forward to seeing you catch some big fish. Tight lines.
- Fingers crossed for them BIG fish.
Watch "My Octopus teacher" they are amazing creatures. Please do not kill them for bait.
Cheers mate, always enjoy your videos, even if I can't fish much at all. Thanks for the tips. 👍
It is my pleasure. 😊👍🏻
Cracking video, yet again Sir. Loved the worms reference 👍

Great video as always mate and some good tips as I was looking at trying for some squid cheers mate and keep them coming
Hope u all well and safe 👍🎣🎣
- No worries mate and good luck. 😊
Another cracking episode. We had a few octopuses caught up here to. In the last couple years never seen afore new fish is always a good sign as our cod have dried up a bit this year
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁🤞✌️
- Its because of the reduced cod stocks that there are more Octopus and Cuttle around I think. Less eating them when they are young.
Its Sunday in the US and I had to go in to work this morning when I got your notification. I thought, "hey, I've been working, its time for a break!"; I started working 15 minutes ago, hahahaha. BTW, I love eating squid and octopus, but to me when cooking, its the 60-60 rule. Either cook it 60 seconds, or 60 minutes. Otherwise, its too tough. A pressure cooker works well with these things. Slice it and marinate in your favorite sauce, its so good.
- That is exactly what Jim and I were discussing yesterday. Its either a flash or a proper boil isn't it. Nothing in between. 😊
Another great video. I like the theory about them tasting the mackerel and not letting go, as usual, you have to think the same way as whatever you are trying to catch in order to catch it !.
Well done , and congratulations on avoiding a face full of ink all day! Cheers
- That’s the key about being a successful angler isn’t it mate. Use your logic and experience and figure it out. 😊👍🏻🐙
Not a bad day John good video stay safe stay well Manchester UK.
- Cheers Fred. 😊👍🏻🐙
Lucky conger, ling or cod for having such a tasty food!! Like you said, they are good foot! 🐙
- They are brilliant aren't they. Great bat and great to eat. 😊
Squid ink holy hand grenade 🤣🤣🤣 cant wait for the next vid!
- Haha. Lobeth the holy hand grenade.....
when they try to expel water or ink, i always feel like I gotta say gesundheit....... sounds like a sneeze. That was fun, and interesting, thanks for taking us fishing with you.
Haha yes it does a little! Glad you enjoyed it
