Hey Sound Bytes! Delighted with the response to this one. Feels good to be back on form. Please share it with fellow Witcher fans! Geralt was such an inspiring character for me and the Witcher universe has given me some of my most wonderful, fun, creative times. Huge thanks to CDP for their masterpiece
shame we won't be getting any songs based on witcher anymore, those were like the masterpeices of your musical mastery. seriously dude great job on this one.
+Not That Guy The Other "lost and aloof are the loves of my past." to "loves aloof are apart no more." this final verse from The Path along with "weary wolf at the end of war" is a rly good callback to Wake The White Wolf... these two songs DEFINITELY tie together and also complement each other rather well.
Out of all the gaming franchises, I would never expect Witcher to be the one with happy ending, but im glad it is. Geralt is too likable to be killed off. Good song Gav :)
His story isnt over yet. CD Projekt Red have not ruled out returning to Geralt and The Witcher series once Cyberpunk 2077 is done and released. At the very least, in any future Witcher games, Geralt will make an appearence. He is fairly young for a witcher after all.
+Titytit Mk2 I hope he shows up at most as a mentor for the new protagonist. The man earned his peace in full and it'd be heart-shattering to see him die.
Thats one thing i miss about older games, it used to be an expansion pack would be like $15 or $20 and it would double the content of the base game, now $15 gets you a cosmetic pack with a few new uniforms for your character. I love Paradox games and some of their $7 and $10 DLC packs only have added emblems or character models, and that seems to be the new standard. The Witcher is one of the few game series where a DLC pack adds more then an hour of bonus content :/
@@arthas640 Yeah, some of Paradox's 'DLCs' are tiny little things, but we also get some game-changing, large scales DLCs there so they aren't the worst for it at least.
@@dragoncatgaming5481 Yeah some Paradox DLC's add a ton of content, to the point of being complete game changers. With CK2 theres 1 that adds most of India, adding around 25% to the map and game play. With Victoria 2 a DLC damn near doubles the size of the game. I do love how much varied DLC they make and I love that they take some of the content from the DLC and give it free as part of continued updates, so the game doesnt stay the same on launch day as it is when the last DLC is released years later. I've heard Paradox does that since one of their first games was released so unfinished it was borderline unplayable but the fans made some fan patches and the studio used their input and changes to keep releasing offcial patches until the game was pretty good, and they kept the fan-studio working relationship to this day.
Geralt's Path certainly was long: - Taking down an entire criminal/terrorist organisation single-handedly - Being accused of regicide - Being involved in a war of ideologies and race between The Order of the Flaming Rose/Humans and the Scoia'tael/Elves and Dwarves - Fighting against Eredin and his Red Riders - Getting tangled in various political plots - Being friends with Dandelion - Having multiple love interests, with most of them being Sorceresses that could kill him in an instant What a life
And remember that the criminal deal happened when he was already 80+ years old and was already supposed to be dead somewhere. After being one of the most famous witchers of all times, becoming the subject of many tales and songs and being the most relevant person to influence the fate of the world by tutoring and saving the one who was basically elven-blooded Jesus.
-"Geralt, what did you find at the end of the path ?" *Geralt sighs* -"A gwent table and friends, Dandelion... Here, it's your turn." -"Can't believe you play the Empire of Nilfgaard..." -"Just shut up and play, dammit !"
This song is the perfect ending to Geralt's epic adventure. It ties up his story with lines like "weary wolf at the end of war" and "loves aloof are apart no more," harkening back to one of his other brilliant songs, "Wake the White Wolf." It has a sense of completion, addressing the sad fact that this is the Witcher's last adventure. It does this while also being a song of victory, as it twists that first idea and makes the viewer feel happy for Geralt. Finally, the imagery of the "end of the Path" is truly genius and could not have been done any better. Gavin has done it again, big surprise.
I've started to just "Like" these videos while waiting for the intro to finish. Miracle Of Sound is just one of those channels that puts out consistently awesome content.
Awesome song, and a fitting finale to your Witcher work. That bit at the end, though -- "loves aloof are apart no more" -- man, I suddenly choked up. Wasn't expecting that.
+Zevran08 Yeah, they did but...as a person who read hole saga more than few times and beaten all games in different ways I'm afraid it just would be the same without our friendly neighbourhood witcher. But on the other hand CDPR have proven that they are capable of creating great stories
Skelliege Winds - Great Lady of Worlds - Amazing Wake the White Wolf (metal and original) - Outstanding The Path - Unbelievably Spectacular Gav, I don't know how you do it but every song you make is absolute gold! A great send off for the songs about the white wolf and an amazing song in general. Excellent work!
I love how this one ties into Wake the White Wolf with the lines about "the end of war" and "loves aloof". This and the recurring "Justice runs in crimson rivers" line that shows up across your AC songs (including in French) makes me really appreciate how much work you must put into your songs.
I loved the ending of the game so much. It left me with a kinda sad, kinda hopeful feeling and I just wanted to continue adventuring and interact with the characters more. And isn't that the best you can get out of a story? Such a great series! Thanks CDPR for The Witcher! And thank you, Miracle of Sound, for the great song! Even though as I said I'm kinda sad it's over (wish I could just forget and experience the Witcher and the amazing expansions all over again) I also can't wait to see what they do with Cyberpunk 2077. If it is even half as good as The Witcher 3, then it will be a amazing new game.
@Endilbiach I melted as well. The fact that Geralt knew I was sitting there, on the other side of the screen and that subtle smile that just said "It's been one hell of a journey together, hasn't it my friend?" ;(
I just got chewed out by my boss before I left work today. Got home, sat down in my chair and noticed this alert on my phone. Thank you so much Gav, my day just got a Hell of a lot better.
I've been with Geralt through 8 books, and 2 games, and i can't believe it's over now. I hope that the next Witcher game is even half as good as the Witcher 3, and the Witcher 1 remake better be great!
Also I should've known this would happen. As soon as I bought the complete discography he made another awesome song that I need. If it were anything else I would just wait, but its a Witcher song.
How long was Geralt's path? Almost of a century of monster slaying, fighting in wars, stopping insurrections, tracking down his raven haired sorceress lover and his adopted daughter....At this point, the dude needs a la-Z Boy, a robe and fuzzy slippers, and a cup of cocoa
I personally also prefer Wake the White Wolf (I guess it has to do with its amazing use of different instruments) but all of Witcher inspired songs are great. It shows a lot of love and (I dare to say) understanding for the source.
Gavin, you've been worried that people hated your songs, don't be. You have a talent few can match, don't worry, your skill is matched by few. Keep going, don't gaze at the ones who try to break you down, don't stare at the ones who despise because there will always be the ones who do that. simply keep doing what you love because you do it far more than well. this song proves it, never relent, never hold back, because we all love it when we notice you love the subject of your song as much, or even more, than we do.
I agree with this completely. Gavin, your talent and skill is, from what I've seen, practically unmatched. Unlike most tribute songs, yours are AMAZING. I love each and every one of them, despite possibly being of a genre I don't like. You just make it all come together and I enjoy it so much.
Eargasm? Oh for heaven's sake, it can't be that good. I'm so tired of fanboys loving things unconditionally. I'm sure it's okay, but hardly... ... ...It is that good. Oh my word, it's brilliant. Yes. YES. YEEESSSSSS!
For me it all started when suddenly a track called "wake the white wolf" appeared in my spotify mix of the week. When i was reading all the books of witcher i was listening to witcher 2 and wild hunt tracks, maybe because of this spotify gifted me your masterpiece. Everytime i hear one of your tracks i feel back when i first played the witcher 3... thank you for this gift man. You are way too underrated. I hope you keep doing some tracks about witcher, for example about the main characters like Yen or Triss or maybe Regis. I would enjoy
This song is great and all. But not sure if anyone commented that at 0:17, when the rock flies near em, geralt body just extends into space and he respawns on his horse xD
This may be my favorite out of all of your Witcher songs, not just because it's such an amazing song by itself, which it is, but because of the ending lines referencing "Wake the White Wolf" and "Lady of the Worlds", which I also absolutely love. Those references make this song seem a continuum and a conclusion to your Witcher songs, and mirrors the game in such a perfect way. Absolutely beautiful.
"lost and aloof are the loves of my past." to "loves aloof are apart no more." and "wake the white wolf at the dawn of war." to "weary wolf at the end of war." these final lines for The Path are a rly good callback to Wake The White Wolf... these two songs DEFINITELY tie together and also complement each other rather well.. God what I wouldn't give to have just HALF of Gavin's talent. XD
"Warm glow with a golden shine Come to rest under the virile vine Dark flow from the oldest shrines Blight and blood under the wealth and wine With black blood in my veins My silver sings again " I'm in love with this song especially for this phrase... you're awesome! :)
Man I still come back to this song to cap off a long workday or project. It's a really relaxing thing to listen to when you finish something challenging and stressful and you're about to finally relax for a while.
Geralt never liked being Witcher that much. Not Lambert level, but did quit taking any Witcher cotracts in multiple occasions. Fair to say that he had more important personal matters those times -> Books.
Oh Gav... I had to prepare to hear this. It gives me goosebumps. "I've followed the path so long" makes me remember how many times Geralt says in the books "I'm too old for this". Very very well done!! :D
The developers worked hard to give lots of weight to Geralt's movements. Thus, he's tends to take a moment before each movement. This can make the combat feel sluggish, or even unresponsive. In the first two games, using items was done outside of combat, so it often felt like you had to prepare ahead of time a lot. It's going for a different feel than Skyrim and other fantasy games of the hack and slash genre. Which isn't bad, just not for everybody and it takes some adjustment time.
I have always loved your music, but you Witcher music has always stood out. I recently played Witcher 3 several times over, and came back to give a listen and it actually caught me by surprise how emotional I got, cried a few seconds and laughed afterwards. This game is second only to Dark Souls for me, and even then it's a very close lead. Never stop, music jesus
I still can't believe how much 'continuity' you can put into your songs. The fact that the 'loves aloof' return from "Wake the White Wolf" is a perfect ending, as much as is the mention of 'a flicker of wild eyes' from Lady of the Worlds. Amazing work as usual!
I swear, I've been here since about the time Level 2 came out and I keep thinking "There's no way that Gav can surprise me." You'd think I'd learn better by now, but once again you've blown my expectations away. Please, keep surprising me.
Witcher is amazing. The books are awesome, the games are awesome, the movie... Nah, just forget it ( if you haven't watched it, you should be happy ). Story, dialogues and characters are so great, it's very hard to accept the end of books and games ( but there will be a new movie thankfully ). And this song? It just belong to the game, its soundtrack for me. Great song, nice lyrics and it has... the feeling. The feeling of awesomess. THIS SONG IS AMAZING.
Just finished the Witcher DLC's a few weeks ago and this song just makes me want to go through them again! Some many awesome moments, and that little look from Geralt will always give me shivers.
CD Project is the kind of company that is an example to all gaming industry. They take their time to make their games, respecting their artistic team and really worried about giving the player "the feels" of not simply playing some game but a piece of fine work (and even a masterpiece if you allow me).
If only they actually treated their workers well. We have since learned that CD Projekt Red has a really shotty attitude towards crunching their employees. That doesn't make Gavin's music or the game itself any less awesome though
If you think about it its kinda sad when he says "loves aloof are apart no more" meaning the amazing tale of Geralt of Rivia is over. Gav you did an amazing job on this song!
I get the feeling you really wanted to give it your all for the final song for Geralts story and it shows. Sorry, Wake the White Wolf and Lady of the world's, you have both been outclassed
+miracleofsound It's a shame how your original songs like Evacuate, Kickback and Amnesia are radio worthy, cause I'd love to hear them on the car radio as much as have the album's as well XD
I cried like a little... during listening. Witcher is my favourite story. First time I read books ten years ago and I still come back to stories and novels. I love games and their clear, good ending. Geralt deserved a rest :) Chapeau bas and thank you miracleofsound. You paid beautiful tribute to Witcher's world in the Path and other W3 songs.
I love those lines at the end, Wake the White Wolf was one of the things that constantly reminded me that Witcher 3 was a thing that was going to happen, and it was going to be fantastic, the farewell of an amazing adventure, so many years, so many stories, so many roads traveled, at the end the White wolf can finally rest, and to realize that after playing through the game + the expansions could not be more satisfying. Thanks for paying homage to one of gaming's best, one of literature's most underrated and a love letter to European Culture
Amazing song as always Gavin. I freaking loved every second of witcher and all it's expansions. That litle smile Geralt gives at the end is kinda bittersweet. It's great that CDprojekt ended Witcher on a high note but i'm sad i'l never play with Geralt again. Rest wel white wolf you have reached the end of your path :,).
Probably my favorite song of yours so far. Not just because of the lyrics, but because of the contrast with all your other Witcher songs. They tell a story all on their own.
Your songs peaked my interest in the Witcher series about 2 years ago. I can happily say now that Witcher 3 is one of my favorites ever and its all thanks to you.
I still remember the scene in Time of Contempt hen Geralt is dreaming of a house for him and Yen for Ciri to visit them with her husband and her three children.
Excellent song, a perfect way to round out all your Witcher 3 songs and as an end to Geralt's story. That last bit where Geralt looks at the camera was particularly good, since that look just seemed to say "It's been fun, but this is where we part ways. Until next time, friend."
Beautiful, Gav. A fitting cherry on top of your collection of Witcher songs. The expansion was fantastic, and this song captures its atmosphere well. Keep it up.
I like the callbacks to wake the white wolf. Weary wolf at the end of war (wake the white wolf at the dawn of war) loves aloof are apart no more (lost and aloof are the lives of my past) very clever. It would've been cool if you got a reference to all your witcher songs seeing as how this is the last one. And yes im including ploughing a troll, if cdpr can reference it you can too.
Wow, all I can say is WOW! Such a beautiful, stunning and especially meaningful song. It shows Geralts way, his toil and how he can finally rest, now "at the end of the path". I am grateful to have enjoyed this amazing song. Thanks a lot for this!
Four years. For Four years i was oblivious. About a week ago, i started playing the first "Witcher" game, and had to fight a vampire like creature. and had to use the potion "black blood" to fight it. I had always written that line in this song off as "cool sounding lyric" for Vampire themed thing" but no. you clever nerd. i stand in awe once again at your ability to weave a worlds lore into a epic song!
That stare he gives us at the end of Blood&Wine, Geralt breaking the 4th wall as to say his farewell to us, damn that gave me shivers when I saw it :') Very good song Gav \m/
A fitting final song for the White Wolf. Both the song and the video were great, as always. If it wasn't such a rock song, I'd even wipe a tear away because of the touching lyrics. I particularly loved that final moment in the video. Really nicely done! Thanks Gav!
HEY GUYS! I think I've found a reference to Ploughing a Troll in Blood and Wine. Between the ruins of Fort Astre and Fox Hollow there's a marker for guarded treasure. There's a troll with a dead man in a cage. When you loot the guy you get a rag with writing on it. It says that he spotted the troll near his house and went to report it to the camerlengo. On his way there, the troll surprised him and professed her love. He rejected her and so she kidnapped him, giving him soup made out of carrion and onions that he refused to eat. He says that he hopes a bard will create a song about his plight. It's really cool and I've not seen anyone else talk about it.
Wow man that was a beautiful send off for the white wolf love the clips and how edited them together to go along with the track especially the last couple shots brought me right back to when i finished my multiple playthroughs before moving on loved it thx
Blood & Wine is easily among the best DLC i have ever played. Held up against the lofty expectations that come with Witcher 3. This song fits perfectly for the tale told. You can be thoroughly proud of this song Gav, you bloody aced it.
Your music has brought me such joy every since I first discovered you and the Dragon Age Inquisition song All As One. I always feel so energized after hearing these songs for games n movies I love plus your originals (Amnesia and Kickback) =)
Amazing. The perfect response to Wake The White Wolf. It actually calls to mind things I felt while playing through the game but hadn't paid much attention too, but the realization that Geralt's journey is coming to an end is an enduring theme throughout the game and one that lends it a rather bittersweet note, and this song captured it perfectly.
This music sounds like it belongs in the game

"That we do..."

This song is honestly a little depressing. Not because it's bad, Just because it signifies the end of our journey with Geralt.

Dunno, it's great, but it's really hard to match the quality of Lady of Worlds.
+Creator13 I, personally, prefer Wake the White Wolf
I think that all his Witcher songs are great (especially Wake the White Wolf)
Thanks for the kind words :)
I agree with this completely. Gavin, your talent and skill is, from what I've seen, practically unmatched. Unlike most tribute songs, yours are AMAZING. I love each and every one of them, despite possibly being of a genre I don't like. You just make it all come together and I enjoy it so much.
Unbelievably Amazing. Everything in this song is perfect. Eargasm.
Thank you very much :) I think taking a little time out did good for my inspiration!
Will you do no man's sky song when it's out?
I really hope you will still doing song for quite a long while because you are my favorite artist
Eargasm? Oh for heaven's sake, it can't be that good. I'm so tired of fanboys loving things unconditionally. I'm sure it's okay, but hardly...
...
...It is that good. Oh my word, it's brilliant. Yes. YES. YEEESSSSSS!
+Cailus Griffin I started reading this and was going to leave a piss off comment but then read the rest. Lol yes it is that good!
1:35 is the proof that the Witcher is Slavic :D
This song is great and all. But not sure if anyone commented that at 0:17, when the rock flies near em, geralt body just extends into space and he respawns on his horse xD
"Through everything carried on
It’s hardened my hide"
And picture of Vesemir and Geralt together.... Too soon!
Im glad geralt got a happy ending though. He went through so much, and us with him, and now the White Wolf can actually take a good long rest.
After listening to this masterpiece, it really hit me that we won't be seeing anymore of Geralt. Goodnight sweet prince
"lost and aloof are the loves of my past."
to
"loves aloof are apart no more."
and
"wake the white wolf at the dawn of war."
to
"weary wolf at the end of war."
these final lines for The Path are a rly good callback to Wake The White Wolf... these two songs DEFINITELY tie together and also complement each other rather well.. God what I wouldn't give to have just HALF of Gavin's talent. XD
The instrumental part in the beginning of the video its enough to make me love this music
"Warm glow with a golden shine
Come to rest under the virile vine
Dark flow from the oldest shrines
Blight and blood under the wealth and wine
With black blood in my veins
My silver sings again "
I'm in love with this song especially for this phrase... you're awesome! :)
Man I still come back to this song to cap off a long workday or project. It's a really relaxing thing to listen to when you finish something challenging and stressful and you're about to finally relax for a while.
Witchers never die in their own beds.
...but this one deserves to
...they just go MIA.
Wait, wrong game.
Makro Geralt does
Geralt never liked being Witcher that much. Not Lambert level, but did quit taking any Witcher cotracts in multiple occasions. Fair to say that he had more important personal matters those times -> Books.
geralt sure lived up to the dying in bed part in the books, huh!
Oh Gav... I had to prepare to hear this. It gives me goosebumps.
"I've followed the path so long" makes me remember how many times Geralt says in the books "I'm too old for this".
Very very well done!! :D
Wow... I haven't even played Witcher yet and this is sending shivers down my spine... another epic job, Gav!
you haven't played the witcher yet? fix that
I really want to but the gameplay bothers me a bit too much.
GingerSwan what about the gameplay bothers you?
The Meme Master idk what it precisely is, it just feels uncomfortable to play.
The callbacks to Lady of Worlds at the end is a nice touch.
"With black blood in my veins, my silver sings again."
Loved how he integrated gameplay mechanics in the song.
This is game of a Century. Period.
Любимая игра! Любимый канал на ютубе!)) Песня просто завораживает!
A really fitting goodbye to the white wolf
This song is simply AMAZING! Good job Gavin. Thank you for all the songs about Witcher :)
Grettings from Poland :)
Pozdrawiamy! :-D
Pozdrawiamy :) CD Projekt RED stworzyło wspaniałą grę, a Gavin wspaniałą muzykę opartą o wydarzenia z Wiedźmina ;)
I cried at the end. Rest well, White Wolf.
I still can't believe how much 'continuity' you can put into your songs. The fact that the 'loves aloof' return from "Wake the White Wolf" is a perfect ending, as much as is the mention of 'a flicker of wild eyes' from Lady of the Worlds. Amazing work as usual!
Wow, this is some of your best work, in my opinion, nice job Gav!
Thank you! :)
after a really bad day this was a great thing to hear thanks man
This is absolutely awesome! Thank you for your great work Gav! :D I'm looking forward to buy another album of yours!
Wait, you telling me there is a Witcher movie?
oh God, why?
Yes there is a Polish made movie. a TV series as well if I recall correctly.
Agreed
Dian Cecht There are many movies and TV series
The movie had some decent moments (the song dandelion played at one point was great)
Just finished the Witcher DLC's a few weeks ago and this song just makes me want to go through them again!
And, for that, they have our full support!
I agree thats why I respect them as a gaming company
If only they actually treated their workers well. We have since learned that CD Projekt Red has a really shotty attitude towards crunching their employees.
That doesn't make Gavin's music or the game itself any less awesome though
Lets not forget that they crunch their employees real hard k?
gush gush gush
This aged magnificently
I just finished this absolute masterpiece of a game and I gotta say, this track really felt like a perfect send off.
You REALLY like The Witcher, huh Gav?
How could he not? The Witcher 3 was one of the greatest games ever made.
It was also heavily requested. So he isn't alone here.
+Breakfast221 I didn't like the combat at all, ruined it for me.
Who doesn't :D
What exactly was it you did not like about the combat? (No worries, I won't bitch at you for having your own opinion, it is just plain interest. ;) )
:) Cheers!
Damn, Gavin must write something about Hearts of Stone, I think Olgerd deserves his own song, it would be really cool.
Iris broke my bloody heart ! She deserves a song too ( in order to "never forget her" as Geralt would say )
When Geralt looks at the camera at the end of Blood and Wine, and when that video of 9-10 years of the Witcher Games came out, I cry every time
Your witcher songs are always such a pleasant experience
Farawell, Gwynbleidd.
I'm not crying, you are who you are !!!!!!!!!!!!! The music plays deep for the last journey ....
Ahhh I love the tie-ins to other songs that gav always does. From 'wake the white wolf at the dawn of war,' to 'weary wolf at the end of war.'
Your songs peaked my interest in the Witcher series about 2 years ago. I can happily say now that Witcher 3 is one of my favorites ever and its all thanks to you.
Witcher 3 now has 4 songs.
10/10
My God... This witcher songs of yours just make my cry every time I listen to them.
By the end of this I had tears in my eyes. Excellent work!
Also the shimmer of white skies and a flicker of wild eyes got references
wait where is ploughing a troll referenced?
“Rest well, White wolf” yet I feel his journey is still not over. Great song
56 Nilfgaardians, Witch Hunters, and members of the Eternal Fire disliked this.
Anyway, great work, amazing song you have made.
446 actually
Wow, all I can say is WOW! Such a beautiful, stunning and especially meaningful song. It shows Geralts way, his toil and how he can finally rest, now "at the end of the path". I am grateful to have enjoyed this amazing song. Thanks a lot for this!
New song to listen on repeat for three years straight. :D AT THE END OF THE PATH!
That stare he gives us at the end of Blood&Wine, Geralt breaking the 4th wall as to say his farewell to us, damn that gave me shivers when I saw it :')
Very good song Gav \m/
A fitting final song for the White Wolf. Both the song and the video were great, as always. If it wasn't such a rock song, I'd even wipe a tear away because of the touching lyrics. I particularly loved that final moment in the video. Really nicely done! Thanks Gav!
Perfect way to end it. Beautiful song.
After such a long journey it's finally time to say goodbye.......
Farewell, White Wolf
Blood & Wine is easily among the best DLC i have ever played. Held up against the lofty expectations that come with Witcher 3. This song fits perfectly for the tale told. You can be thoroughly proud of this song Gav, you bloody aced it.
Your music has brought me such joy every since I first discovered you and the Dragon Age Inquisition song All As One. I always feel so energized after hearing these songs for games n movies I love plus your originals (Amnesia and Kickback) =)
God... I just love Geralt so much. So happy he gets to be happy in the end. This song captures it. Great job, guys.
“This world doesn’t need heroes, it needs professionals.”
