Just found your channel - I like your style! It took Pick Floyd a month to get that lo-fi sound in the studio back in the day. Great pedal - especially for those that partake in the devil's weed and have a few months to get through all the possible sounds.
Seems like an incredibly versatile pedal. Tone tweaking is practically endless. Worth considering as an all around modulation device. I've never owned anything by Walrus Audio, but am expecting delivery of their Kangra Filter Fuzz later today. Needed a fuzz and after trying several I was sold on the Kangra once I tried the filter side... which can be used alone, in tandem with the fuzz side, or to filter other pedals. Sounds so funky! Looking forward to stacking the Kangra with some overdrives and a Source Audio Multiwave Distortion I've added to my main gear recently. After hearing your demo of the MAKO M1 I can see myself getting at least one other Walrus pedal. Thanks for a great demo & review!!!
Thanks Glenn! I loved the Kangra but sold it cuz life happened and i needed some cash. I miss it. The filter was a whole extra layer of tone shaping for the fuzz AND very fun for the funky stuff.

best video on this pedal, comfortably. had it a week and i love it! perfect for me who only has one spot for modulation. the tap tempo is spot on for me (some pedal's tap tempo i've found a bit hard to get right). I've tried to dial in that static lowpass filter tone you made (mixed with my distortion) and can't get it!! What did you have the 'tone' and 'x' set to, do you remember?

You won me over - so much so that before I'd finished watching it, I subscribed and checked out your website, and the healing mission with your band I discovered there especially evoked my admiration and respect. It's very much consonant with Learn from the Masters Music Outreach's mission of sharing the healing power of music. Your review is such that after watching it entirely, I intend to watch it again to derive even more benefit (plus it's enjoyable). I own all 4 Mako series pedals, and I confess the quality of the sound tipped the scales against the countervailing aspects of complexity and learning curve. In light of these impediments, I really appreciate your enthusiasm and explanations, which have helped me in getting past them and enjoying and appreciating my equipment even more. Keep up the good work! One question: I've watched several videos on the M1, and I don't recall anyone mentioning that (unlike other pedals I use) when you power it off it goes to the last *preset* used and not the last *setting* used when you power it on again. So, if you find a sound you like, if you don't save it to a preset before powering down, it won't be there when you power up again. To me this is a big negative. I wrote to Walrus and they said others have voiced this complaint as well, and that they're working on a fix (I think via firmware update). However, they did not give a timeline. I'd appreciate your comments on what I consider to be a detraction from an otherwise great pedal. I also agree with you regarding the absence of a mix knob, and a flanger being more desirable than envelope. As good as the phaser program sounds, I'm sure the flanger would sound great (especially if they made a mix knob function). Perhaps they'd heed your recommendations on this more so than many of us?
Thanks for this video! I was wondering/hoping the vibrato could replace the one on the Julianna and I think you gave me the answer (which is yes). Between that and the clockable tremolo I feel like everything else on the M1 is just a bonus
That rotory on fast was awesome !! in slow it was kinda more like a trem effect. Otherwise ... sounds like if you could afford 2-3 of these it would make for a nice lil modulation section of your board.
This pedal is puuure madness, I just took the time a few weeks ago to read AT LAST the manual, and I discovered there was also a drive and a reverb inside !!!!! what more can you need ? What's the purpose of having more expensive multieffects units which cost 3 times the price of this one ?

Great overview of the pedal man! This thing gets killer tones. I had to buy one after I saw this demo. But for some reason my rate knob doesn't seem to work. 😢 Not sure if the rate knob is locked while toggling certain switches or not. Did you have any trouble with the rate adjustment?
Ah man! I haven’t had that problem. Perhaps try a factory reset? If not, Walrus Audio’s customer service should be able to take care of you 👍 and tell ‘em I sent you.

Hey I also asked them about swapping the filter circuit for a flanger like you did in the video here. I have their polychrome and I love it but yea they told me they aren't able to swap out the filter. Maybe they'll do a MKII and add a flanger? Thanks again man for getting back to me. So I currently use Alexander Wavelength for my multimod pedal and it's pretty good, but my all time favorite modulation is the Dimension C chorus effect. Do you think this pedal get me close to it or will I still need to keep my DC-2W on my board?
that's a great question that I don't have an answer to. I do have a DC-2w as well so I could try it out and see. Keep in mind though, the DC-2 effect does its "thing" in a manner that a chorus pedal does not, so it won't be exact but I would love to see how close I can get

I expect the Julia served as the base of comparison. But there's also the series and tri-chorus, which the Julia does not do... The tremolo can do everything the Monument can do. I suppose the real question is, do you HAVE TO HAVE ANALOG or is digital good for you? I personally think the M1 has a bit more color than the Monument thanks to the Tone and LoFi controls. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. As for the Phaser, the Lillian was pretty good but I like the flexibility of the M1 better. You can probably get close with Lillian. Now, if board space wasn't a worry...honestly, I'd probably still use the M1. On it's own there's quite a bit more sound than the standard. The LoFi stuff is really fun and can come in very handy. But it would be used in addition to say a Flanger (think MXR) and possibly a Phase 90. For me those are kind of "go-to" sounds I always want and the M1 can do my chorus, trem and rotary. Hope this long comment helps!

@@SeanPierceJohnson maybe you can be the first to do a comparison of the two 😉 Bonus points for including the MD-500 and/or Strymon Mobius. Personally, I don't want a modulation pedal right now, but the Walrus M1 or Wampler Terraform are considerations if I later decide to get one. I don't like the sounds of either the Boss or Strymon in this case, going by video demos, though the Boss is pretty darn versatile, at least. Other people will appreciate the comparison involving those Boss and Strymon mod pedals. There are no Terraform vs M1 comparison vids, so you could be the first at that if you want.
I need to get another power supply. The issue is my that my current one isn't high enough. I have few adapters from Electroharmonix and I think they are not 350 ma. @@SeanPierceJohnson
that may be what's needed. I'd recommend looking into a power brick if you have several pedals to power. lots of great options out there at various price points.

You assume correctly. If it could run multiple at one time I’d have showed how to do it.
Might as well get a Boss MD-200. Much cheaper. Does the same.
the MD-200 is also bigger and uses a different MIDI plug. and some folks don't like Boss modulation.
this is why the gear world has options...
I think this Walrus has better sounds and that ‘lofi’ is simply amazing. But agree, if you’re looking something cheaper, MD-200.
