that's actually very true.. I haven't even taken much time to look back and see where it's come from! I used to have the Holy Grail Reverb which was 1 knob and a switch haha! Still sounded great..ish..
The envelope is a LOFI setting. So you set your tone and then when you turn up LOFI it will engage the envelope. That is why you were not hearing much of a change,
also the Noise parameter is really great in the Vibe settings (type 2 and 3 are TAPE and VINYL or vice versa). The noise is then accurate to the vinyl or tape
Would be a really nice choice. Nice the way they threw in that funky lo-fi reverb. Sounds a bit like my Walrus Sloer, which sounds great on synth With the stereo chorus, would be perfect for getting Juno sounds from the Nymphes. And slow rotary can give you some extra LFO-like action movement, in stereo. Harmonic trem is a nice effect too. And the rythmic stereo trem does Boss SL-2 type effects. And then there's some drive, noise, and tape wow & flutter that's a bit Magneto / Shallow Water-like, especially with the Envelope filter.
Other nice cheaper pedal option I use for this is the TC Electronic SCF+. It's mono in, stereo out. Doesn't weaken the bass the way the Boss DC-2W Dimension pedal does. And it's quite flexible, on slow speed low depth, can do subtle stereo movement. And faster speed, can do a nice wobbly pitch vibrato. chorus, flangey and phasey effects. And it's all analogue, if you wanted to keep the signal that way. Similar, with the more expensive Boss DM-101. Also very flexible, mono-in, stereo-out and can do chorus as well as many kinds of delay / chorus-delay. I think of it like the more modern but more powerful multi-BBD version of the old RE- units. Sounds killer. These two aren't as powerful as the M1, but I feel their core analogue tone is better.
Great video, Thank you, Ricky, :P it sounds pretty good. But can someone explain why this is better than using plugins inside the daw? if it is running DSP inside of the box what is the point? thank you
What's up Deaftra! Thanks for watching. At that point it might be personal preference. Some cases might be; Helps keep CPU usage low. You're performing without a computer. You want to tie a synth with an FX to commit to a sound. Your mouse only allows tweaking of 1 knob at a time vs hardware which is as many knobs as you can touch. Some of those reasons are a bit of a stretch but i've come across all of them while making music.
i've had some issues with that. got a lot of pops, noise and weird distortion using my Digitone/Digitakt..... where can I read up some more on this topic? @henry hill
Totally not related to the pedal but that Sequential shirt is nice! Would love to get one of those. And also I don’t think I’ve ever seen a visual fade in a RT video! What’s next, star wipe!? 😆👍
i think so, the reverb is so good. you got some filtering, and great FX. So many pedals out now cover a lot of ground. I also really like the midi implementation on this one
Recently, and regretfully, sold my Shallow Water. I think may be worth saving up for this as a replacement. Stereo and midi is attractive and a complementary reverb it seems. But will it have the same mojo……… Thanks for another cool vid.
Did you (or anyone reading this) notice the M1 not being truly High Fidelity in the top end? I’m worried about getting one and it not letting all of the top end through on a synth. Would love to hear someone’s experience with synth and the M1
I work at Guitar Center in Danbury, CT, and we got one of these in used at one time. I was thoroughly unimpressed with it. This video definitely confirms my suspicious that it may have been defective, as every mode sounded like a static chorus pedal. It came off as weak, and not nearly as beautiful as the sounds here.
great demo but i dont understand why this is high or low fi or medium or even that interesting of a pedal...its just not, next to so many others or combinations or maybe the exploration here is limited, hard to tell. sorry walrus and mako.
Nice pedal. Great demo. But: i dont get it. Why this dual mono stuff? Sorry it just sucks. Bulky as hell. Double the failure source. I also dont get strymon/Eventide/microcosm: stereo in but dual mono out. WHY?? Dont tell me legacy. Íll have ONE adapter at the end. Not 10 for every pedal. Sorry sucks big time. Save my cash and the planet: stereo patchcable in: stereo. Mono cable in. Mono. Simple. While youre at it kill 5pin midi. Go 3,5 type a. Pretty please.
Great to see m1 compatible pedals finally.
Hahahaha
love my Julianna Analog Chorus/vibrato from them. adding one of those to any synth sound adds so much
Great segment, thanks! Take away: When all else fails, read the manual!
Yeah Dude! Been Rocking this pedal for months and immediately thought - “This is a Ricky thing!!!” Awesome overview!!!
Very very cool. Midi in *and* thru is a godsend on a compact pedal. Reverb sounds great. Massive stereo effects. I’m into it
Getting some serious BoC sounds out of the Peak + M1 toward the end there man! Thanks for sharing the way you do bro!
Ouuu just getting into this pedal and my guy's got a review? Let's go.
I didn’t expect the reverb to sound that good, it’s better than some dedicated reverb pedals, nice one Ricky!
Neither did I! Hahaha I wonder if it’s based off one of there other pedals 🤔
for realsies, had me at the reverb too. Everything else is a bonus.
I'm curious if its a sound off the R1 or something unique too.
I just got one of these last week. It's an incredible pedal!
Still waiting on my Chase Bliss Gen Loss mkII. thanks for the tech info on the Walrus M1.
came here to say this!
would love to see these two compared
The standard of pedal building at the present moment is insane!
that's actually very true.. I haven't even taken much time to look back and see where it's come from! I used to have the Holy Grail Reverb which was 1 knob and a switch haha! Still sounded great..ish..
Excellence as always Ricky. You jammed out at the end of this one. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great sound. I wish Walrus would make a wider desktop version with all jacks in the back and a more efficient UI.
There does seem like a large amount of button and switch combos that would be remedied with a bigger version.
Been eyeballing this one, for a minute...about to go pedal shopping, soon. Thanks for another dope video!
Thanks for the support! i'm seriously blown away by its reverb haha
@@RickyTinez This pedal has sure made the rounds, since this video. Well done!
That progression on the jam out is so good!
Final track really sounds amazzzzing
A great piece of hardware brother, thanks for sharing your thoughts and first experience. 🙌🏻
Yes. You did just make a sick track. Can't wait to download.
Sold a multfx pedal and got light pedal & shallow water. Finaly got a sound for my jazz guitar rig

was actually a perfect use of the word "sinusoidal"
I love mine with the digitone! I'm wondering why WA says it's not designed to be used with line level gear. :( did you use a reamp for this?
Is this the best Ricky Tinez end of video jam yet? I think it might just be.
Hey, I love you. Thanks for the shark fact. I like the little trivia.
Yo, that's Liam in the photo, one of the raddest dude's there is; period.
Mapped it to my P1 great pedal very nice indeed.
I've gotten quite a few pics from Walrus, in fact!
Awesome video man, I might have to look into getting some pedals myself coz wow😄
thumbs up for selachian trivia
I'm looking for a pedal to stereoize the Nymphes mono output - this sounds like a very solid contender! 🔥

@@compucorder64 Awesome! Thanks for the advice!
Sinusoidal is a word, and you used it correctly
Ricky, you going to be at Knobcon next month? If so, I'll definitrly stop by and say hello.
Shark week, experimental math, pronunciation and o yeah a pedal 😀
And here I am pointing back at you 🫵🫵🫵🫵🫵🫵 😋
Love your videos 😀
might look into pedals..just been using efx section on hardware samplers..

@@RickyTinez Hello Ricky ! you make some good points, I did not think about ....... than you again for your effort🍺
How do you find it handles synth level without a reamp box? Seen conflicting reports about it
i've had some issues with that. got a lot of pops, noise and weird distortion using my Digitone/Digitakt.....

Sounds like Korg retro Groove Boxes!
oh no...welp...buying this thing now

I actually liked the way you used to pronounce Tremolo, seriously though this is an ideal all rounder for synths right!?

@@RickyTinez Not gonna lie, I ended up buying one off the back of this video 🤭
“They don’t. You won’t get a Polaroid” lol
Ricky is the man
says nobody... hahaha
Does the m1 have USB midi?
What Mac is that?! I think you’ve already told us
This the best pedal for lowfi ?
Have you compared to chroma console?
Way to make me wanna buy this pedal… I have the R1 lol and the Julianna.
Recently, and regretfully, sold my Shallow Water. I think may be worth saving up for this as a replacement. Stereo and midi is attractive and a complementary reverb it seems. But will it have the same mojo………

Have you see the Chase Bliss Generation Loss MKII? Definitely a SW competitor and it’s in stereo.
@@MrMarcLaflamme yeah, I sold that too! Oops. Getting this now.
@@nostandingonlydancin no worries! The M1 still might be the best. Also Ribbons by Kinotone. @Jorb just put out a video on it.

i got a lot of pops and distorted signal when i hooked it to my digitakt/digitone setup. could it be i sent the audio volume in too hot?
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Reminds me of RE dead aim Save room song
Lofi? But it’s got hi-fi in the name!
I got a Polaroid 😎
M1 probably stands for Maco series 1. However “maco” is spelt in this context.
don’t think so, the Reverb of the Mako series is “R1”, the Delay is “D1” and the Amp & cab sim is “ACS1”, so I think it stands for “Modulation 1”
Now whooooo is saying "treh mo lo"?
Like a synth for a synth..
tre-moe-low
The ultimate lo fi pedal will be Generational loss from Chase.
Im a guitar player and bought this for my board. Can I run a MIDI keyboard into this then thru to a DAW?
Ricky say something about your moog plsss
