Isolated Bass-less track
I'm a bassist here. Great playing, however I'm sitting here playing air drums, well, because that's the law..
Yes, even Tim had to air-drum Neil during the last break. That’s just the law!
Damn straight!
Hands down the BEST YYZ cover I've ever heard, keep up the good work!!
The twiddling of the thumbs cracked me up.
This was a great non-verbal review; I wish more reviews were done like this one!
I dont know how i can be so pissed off ( cuz i cant do this), and yet have a huge smile on my face at the same time. Amazing job Tim.
I feel you bro 😂👍
Me: Can you play YYZ?
Tim: Hold my beard. ;-)
You're a great player, man. Very impressive. I used to be able to play some of their earlier stuff, but didn't have the speed to play the later material. I had a stroke a few years ago, and have had to modify my playing style...it sucks, but I can still play and sing well enough to get paid, so I feel very fortunate :)...
Going to check out more of your vids, keep up the good work!
Just ordered mine! Thanks for making my arsenal fatter and wallet thinner! Rock on and Keep it up with YYNOT!
That's what I'm here for! lol
Tim…. You are an absolutely amazing musician!!! You have achieved bass playing royalty!!!
Hey Tim Steve From Deland Florida here.
Have you had your Geddy Japan models
Frets Pleked?
Hi Steve, I have not.
I refuse to watch any video where Tim talks, I like to think of him as the silent hero who let's his skills and facial expressions speak for him.
Awesome ! So bad@ss, awesome playing and tone! Can't wait to here the Ric bass next. :D
Great video!! The best cover of YYZ I've ever heard as well!! That pedal really does get you that Geddy tone!! Combine it with a J- Bass or a Rick and Presto!
dude. we go through this every time lol. I watch you play this and I’m torn between practicing more or just having you and the kids over for a bonfire and go back to drums.
incredible, Man. thanks for putting it up. let me know next time you’re in town
flawless performance, awesome sound, and i love how into it you are!
great video man
Its nice to see someone with Manhands playing Bass beside those people with fingers so long and thin you could scratch your ass from another room
it doesn't matter what you play as long as you do lots of facial expressions
Hey Tim, I have struggled to count the rest at 0:37. Could you provide some guidance? Thank you!
Other than Geddy Lee, you are quite honestly in my opinion the best bass player I know of. Very well done!!
I am revisiting tonight....love your playing...also love facial expressions and grimacing! ;)
You have a ton of personality, Tim
R
THAT..... is the way it’s supposed to be done!
(Who are the 11 numbnuts who gave this a thumbs down?)
Are you leading middle finger on the main line from g to d? So playing it MIM for a triplet effect? Because my fingers are naturally wanting to do different things each time, so I figure if i ask and get a consistent thing down similar to how your playing itll make the technique flow better. Thanks in advance!
Yes I am.
You're definitely awesome dude.
It'd be cool if Lee and Lifeson joined YYNot on stage 🇨🇦🎸🎸🎸🎸🇨🇦
if Neil was still around I would be cool if he’d join too
Tim, having had a play with it, how does it compare to the GED-2112 rack unit? (obvious differences aside)
Its like a mini version of it
Thanks Tim - so glad you said that - all the justification I needed :D
Love it.
I ordered it after seeing the video. Can’t wait
Great Playing! I also play Geddys songs.
But I also Sing and play Geddy. Been doing it since 1980. But, After All these years. I still never understood the middle run. Could you make a video with just the 3 runs. The rest I figured out. When Moving Pictures came out. Thanks
Geddy # 2. My friends call me Geddy Lee Nordstedt. You view a few of my videos on You Tube. Steve Nordstedt Sings and Plays. Thanks fellow Bass brother. Love your videos.
Dang boy, thats THE tone right there!
Thank you tech 21 for finally getting this right!
A lot of folks attempt this song but few have it down PERFECTLY!!! Great job and great sound!
Lovely playing Tim, what settings are you using on the SansAmp YYZ?
wow! the best yyz bass cover!
Wow, Tim!! I'm just amazed at your bass playing!! It's so joyful and effortless! The Ged pedal sounds fantastic as well. Tim, please, would you mind giving some advice for increasing the bass skills of young players? How many hours do you usually practice per day? Would you recommend any specific exercises? Thanks a lot, buddy! Rock on!!!
Wow Man! Make More Videos!!!!!
Hi, where did you get the pedal from, I cant find it anywhere? Inside person at Tech 21? All of your videos are executed brilliantly, and the tone (Right hand) is spot on. I even purchased YYNOT album on Apple music. I have the streaming thing, but wanted to support you all in your wonderful endeavors. Keep up the phenomenal work, you and the group are killing it!!!
Thank you! I am lucky enough to be working with Tech 21. It will be released in May
Amazing!! If I work really, really, really hard, I think I must just be able to play YYZ just as good. :D
Dude, no fair! It took me about a year to learn Red Barchetta, which isn't nearly as hard as YYZ, and you are are just sitting there toying with it! Not only are you nailing all the main parts, but you are also playfully toying around with your own improvisations. Super impressed and I had to subscribe.... but I sure wish I could play like you. I guess God doesn't bestow talent to everyone equally. 😂
Love it and your playing...i bought one...Where do have your settings in clock numbers plz sir ?
I cant tell if anyone has asked yet so sorry if they have, but what are your pedal settings? I love the tone
Zan Halen if you brighten your screen you might be able to vaguely make out the pedal settings
Amazing! I'm curious if you already tried this small box in live settings?
Hate you Tim 🤪...🖤
Omg that was freaking spectacular! Cheers from Houston, TX.
5 years from now I'll have a beard that long. But in 5 years, I still won't be able to play YYZ,,,
waw .....
Tim... You rock this stuff!! I need to practice more... HAHA!
BRAVOOOO ¡¡¡¡
check my channel ¡¡¡
saludos ¡¡¡
Ok Thanks I’m sure the USA Model comes Pleked. Just plays easier
Good playing. Try to mute the strings by anchoring thumb on E and A string as you play D and G strings. It's also much easier to play D/ G string as your fingers won't be outstretched due to you anchoring thumb so far away on the pickup/ E string. This is a classical guitar technique. It's also one Geddy uses!
Neither of my thumbs do what they are told and they are both too stubborn to start listening now.
Tim Starace ruclips.net/video/WddSQVTwj_Y/видео.html. You’ve got this man. Try it. You’ll never look back.
Good but not quite. You're leaving gaps of silence in between notes. Not Geddy's style at all.
JIMMINY CRICKETS!!!! Basically this pedal is what the rackmount "should" have been. Great work, great tone!
Hmmm.. I wonder how the Vintage Microtubes would stand up to the Ged Pedal? It too has a blend knob.
You nailed brother, the accents are right on, the tone so Geddyish and of course you covered it just about flawlessly....great work !
Great tone luv yr feel. Tim can you please tell us the settings you have on that YYZ pedal. Thank you.
Thanks, the fact that you so obviously enjoy playing bass inspires me to come back and get the tricky (for me) second solo of this track under my fingers! The rest I can play, but that solo has always eluded me, I can play the notes but not the rhythm! Incidentally I'm intrigued as to how you leave that room - is there another door?
This made me realize I need to make my fingers stronger. That’s amazing attack, man!!
Your tone is gnarly. Amazing playing too Tim!
Sound touch bass distortion grooves..
Everything here is perfect
thank God Tim plays Fenders and Ricks and is not waiting to have a Wal to play Gedd´s bass lines
Agreed, best thing on bass I have heard since G Lee Esq...mighty!
Amazing. Truly awesome player. Do you know what mids are set at on this? I have a Para driver and wondered if it was worth getting this pedal also. Geddy Lee bass drive is about the only distorted bass sound I like.
How in the name of al that is holy can 11 people not like this?
13 morons now
Take my money! I’m getting that pedal, ASAP.
Awesome! Loved it and love the happiness you display while playing it! BRAVO! Will have to look into that SansAmp!
Fantastic playing Tim! The pedal sounds gorgeous too!
I have a stingray bass, do you think I can use this pedal to get that sound or do i need the fender too. Lol
Hello there. You learn the song by ear?
Nice and sick cover !
Lol have that same poster up on my wall
This is so joyful (never mind the impressive technique), I'll be grinning all day. Awesome job and thank you!
really nailed Ged's tone, great job
Thats a good technique, you rock dude keep on playin
It's awesome you can play in real time the parts that Geddy had to punch in.
Punch In????! how many thousands of times has he pulled this off live?
@@secretjourney4815 the bass solo fills in the studio YYZ were recorded separately and dubbed in later. Maybe he wanted to make sure he didn't flub one and then have to re record the whole song again
Well, making a review at home, even at a professional level like Tim is doing, isn’t the same as making an album in an expensive studio unless that studio is your own.
You need to use the time wisely and as cost efficient as possible. :)
@@jamesnoble8205 He used the Rickenbacker for the different tone in the solos
Show off ; - p And with a Tecate too. Hmph....
Spot on , how many hrs did you spend on this to get this song down
Hell yeah!
What about sharing those settings with us?....
Deeply considering getting this pedal but curious to how it would sound with an Ibanez bass playing metal
I'm on an Ibanez TMB-100 and this pedal can do just about anything, trust me.
Featured in a tech21 vid. You made it bro
👍
Out of curiosity, what are the controls on it dialled at? I wanna know so I can attempt to sound like that when I get mine, haha
Is this the bass player from YYNOT?
The best cover on RUclips by far
The poster behind you, where can I get that!!!
Damn, damn...that was VERY accurate. Shite!!
Awesome, perfect and fantastic playing ...!!!
0:46 this part @ 0.5x speed 🤘🏾😡
What were the settings you used?
Hey Tim! Your Geddy Lee tone is amazing! It's hard to believe it's coming from the pedal. You probably play with the GL signature bass as well, but, can you post the settings you have on the YYZ pedal? Thanks
was that a budwieser? ewww. at least the playing and tone was tasteful. go drink Yuengling. lol. jokes aside, great job, Tim.
Seltzer...
Sup Bro!! Love the facial expressions you rock! I just picked up the pedal this morning🤘🏽
Rush rush rush rush rush . & yyNot
Kick ass, Tim! Great sounding pedal, as well.
Damn dude u kick fucking ass
I learned this when touring stopped due to Covid (took a while haha) and the only part that’s still got me is counting the spaces between those unison runs after the intro riff... I can’t seem to find any straight count that works! I can hit it... but i have no idea what they are counting. AMAZING playing Tim! You’re def the cleanest I’ve heard do this by far. Bravo! 👏
Thanks! That run has a "feel" timing and eye contact is a must live. Btw, Ged and Alex play different notes during that part.
@@TimStarace oh man, thanks for confirming my suspicion!! 😂 I have a feeling I’m also playing Alex’s part on that first run. This song is such a doozy!! Took my mind off the world shedding it this year tho. Thank you for the incredible playing and helpful words. In an internet full of amazing musician videos, your’s are my favorites to watch. Always inspiring (and humbling ;) 🙏
Great... Rush masterpiece
Great demo, and playing!
Frigging AWESOME!!!
I do believe you have played this once or twice. I think I use to call myself a bass player. lol Great job Tim you make this look easy and its not. I am a fan of a much brighter clean piano string bass sound. I have been with Warwick and S.I.T strings for over 28 years now. I change my strings every show and I have for years.I love your tone and finger picking. That SamsAmp is kicking ass. You can hear me play Rush Headlong on my sound cloud as well as 67 original songs if your interested. People have no idea how long it takes to get as good as you are. Most places we play they don't want to pay us for the skills we have. You are a extremely great player and I am a fan now. soundcloud.com/richard-hatcher-2/rush-headlong-flight-bass-and-drums-mix
Is it possible you can do a review on this pedal, Not playing a rush song ??..I'm a big Rush fan, But would like to see what else this pedal can do .. Thanks
Great sound. I love rockin’ this tune. Endless fun.
Is that a Geedy Lee signiture Bass fitted with Tom Brentley pickups?
Yes
@@TimStarace Thankyou so if I purchase that model from a fender dealer do I have to do the swap?or does Tom supply fender ,,? Thankyou
@@stephenfell4338 You would have to swap them.
@@TimStarace thankyou so it's a signiture model minus the signiture pickups , &pots, so you have to buy and fit them your self, so basically it's just a cheaper Fender Bass from walmart "marvelous"
@@stephenfell4338 Not at all. Tom makes specific pickups for Geddy as does Fender. Working with Geddy, I can assure you NOTHING with his name on it is less than steller! The Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass is awesome sounding and playing bass right out of the box. Adding Toms pups brings another awesome option into the equation. As any versatile, creative artist does, he has more than one color on his palette.
I'll also add that the GLJB is the best bang for your buck Jazz Bass out there.
👏👏😀Very, very good..!! Congratulations..!! Show..!!
Note for note perfection. 🤘
You do the best covers period. I saw your other ones. You have a great ear my friend. Love to come and see you live.
Some solid playing and tone dude
