That guy has a couple of extra brains hidden in that nose. I’m sure of it. How else could he sing, play keyboards with his feet while shredding the bass like this? There is an old B&W video here on RUclips from 1976 of Rush playing Anthem live and to really piss is off, he almost never looks down at the neck of his bass while playing this. Yeah, rub it in Geddy! I guess it was really easy for him then because he didn’t have the keyboards and Taurus pedals and stuff, just singing and shredding the bass. Piece of cake. He had to throw the rest in to make it a bit challenging. RIP Neil.
@@cosmicman621 Yes we are. Even more unbelievable is the entire concert of them at that Junior High School. It was right after their first album had released and John Rutsey was still the drummer. We’re really lucky that some TV station filmed the entire concert. That has to be the earliest footage I’ve ever seen of them.
Tim is like that cool electrician or construction guy who fixes your house, then you go to the bar with him for a beer just because he's a cool dude and he ends up sitting in with the band and absolutely brings the house down with his monster chops, and until that moment you had no idea he even played bass.
Anthem was recorded in 1974. This bass line and tone was revolutionary then and is still some of the best ever recorded. 48 years ago. So good to hear it so high up in the mix where it belongs :)
Your ability to mimick the original player's tone is flawless. Last time I heard somebody who could Geddy his bass this well was 8 years ago. Your a cool cat Tim. Thank you for sharing!
Incredible. It's like getting a private bass lesson from Geddy himself. Thanks for sharing your mind-blowing talent. Your heart is as big as your talent.
Truly incredible!! You NAILED this song down to every last detail! I have yet to see anyone get that Geddy tone down better than you do; great playing!
One of my favorite bassists on RUclips - you are a joy to watch, my friend! And the tone.. man, Geddy would certainly be proud haha. Your Rush covers are second to none.
I had an audition back in the 80s, and they called this song. They said come in when ya know it..... Still haven't showed up! This, and Analog Kid ..... Nice playing Sir!
So.. i bought a BRAND NEW rick off my co-principle, case n all, sunburst red. 800.00,, traded it for a peavey 4×12 bass cabnet to a guy who claimed rickenbackers sounded like coo-coo clocks..... moral of the story here is. Im an idiot. Wana hear a mean cover on a rick. Dude does one of frank zappas "valley girl" sounds sick
Guess What !! I did my Homework.!! That is Tim the Bass player for YY Not. !! Phenomenal Band Guys.!!!! I Have watched several of their videos over the past few years now. Tim is the most phenomenal bass player I have ever seen.!!! Too bad they play in California A lot. I would love to go see one of their Shows. I live in Ohio.!!!
When playing this kind of thing, there is a big difference between playing it and feeling it. So many covering rush are just playing it, copying it, trying to mimic it. It is so refreshing to see someone who really feels it like how geddy actually plays. I have been enjoying your videos, and the energy in your playing.
He Looks exactly like the bass player from the Rush Tribute Band YY Not. Im just wondering About That. He never Responds to Any Comments.I could be Wrong on This.
Awesome job Tim! I have wished I could turn down everything else to pick up one instrument. You make me wonder why more people don't play bass! Hope you keep doing these videos, Some Yes would be great too!
I wish the same, I've picked up playing bass for almost a year, sometimes you watch legends like Tim and it makes you want to quit because of how good they are and how bad you are lol
That was awesome! That was dead on right there! You had the tone, and everything perfect brother! Excellent job! Love that white Ric a lot!! Keep it up!!

So many talented bass players, guitar players and drummers inspired by RUSH! I wish there could be a talent show to see whose worthy to pick up the mantle? Musicians who know RUSH songs and the talent show would be judged by Geddy and Alex. RIP Neil.
OMG You are Amazing Dude !!!! WOW !!! That was so Good !!!!! Blows my mind how good you are !!!!! OMG.!! Literally can't belive what I have just Watched !! Like watching Geddy !!! That was Unbelievable !!!!!!!!!
Forget saying Geddy played bass, he played lead BASS!!!! Fantastic rendition. Keep the spirit alive. I miss Rocky. I hope I spelled her name correctly.
Now we understand why Rush as a 3 piece produce such a full and rich sound; they's playing the hell out of their instruments. Very nice Tim and very instructive.
I am a huge rush fan and bass player, yet whenever I think I have a song down, I just come here and get schooled on the nuances. Thanks for the eye opener, I completely mistimed the second part of the solo.
And Geddy plays all that sh** singing at the same time... that guy is unbelievable. RIP Neil Peart.
No doubt, it's basically like singing while soloing.

Timing is extraordinary. This is what people mean when they say a band has a tight rhythm section. His playing is just dead ass on the money.

Tim obviously has the heart of a teacher to post such videos. It's as if he wants the rest of us to learn it too instead of keeping it all to himself.
